How do you get wind obs history for the north shore? Where's that windswell chop coming from?

There are no automatic weather stations on the North Shore (NOAA have four stations on Oahu but they're mainly on the southern and central parts of the island).

You can get current wind barb plots here - with one station reasonably close to Sunset (it's apparently on site at the Kahuku Military Training Area) but there's no archive info available.

Oahu seems to be under the influence of a mild S'ly right now but the latest data from KTAH is E/NE.

Alright cheers TB.

Just wondering what kind of synoptic setup would make the winds deviate from the trades in winter. If it's anything akin to patterns I am familiar with. Like a mirrored version of a frontal progression maybe?

What generates strong poleward winds in the sthn hemi winter? On the East Coast, why don't we get such strong pre-frontal winds in winter? Anyone, Donweather perhaps haha?
