Thinking of booking a trip on the Wisesa boat , just wondered if anyone has had any experience with the boat/company etc.

Thinking of end Sept 6 of us.

Thanks
Andy

4m saltwater Crocodile hanging around the boat moored out from a break in Sumba last trip .

Or so I’ve heard.

I think I have told this story before but one trip to Rote we went over to a nearby island where they had a juvenile saltwater croc in a pen. They had caught it in the lagoon without any problem. Then Mum came back and cruised up and down for a week looking for junior. We were surfing every day a couple of ks away. So they are definitely around in the eastern end of the archipelago.

I spoke to a bloke who did the Nth Maluku trip. He said it was pretty, but the waves weren't great. The quality waves they had were heavy, fast and a bit sketchy. He loved it, but he's also an older rich bloke who does 6 or so boat trips every year. Didn't sound like the way you'd want to spent your annual leave each year.

Funny about the croc - last trip to Sumba I did I copped plenty of shit from some of the local fishermen for being Australian. There'd be a huge increase in the number of big crocs in Sumba (according to them), and they'd decided we must have let them all free from the croc farms in Australia haha.

Don't know if its this boat, but know guys that have done the Muluku run and known guys that have stayed on land cheap.

It's obviously a totally different ocean and one that even in season can go flat for days to weeks and even when waves its mostly fairly short period stuff.

Obviously like anywhere can pump, but need all the stars to align.

Cheers for the info, they look like a dive outfit that run surf trips too , so was wondering if they actually know anything about surfing / spots/winds/what tide etc. Would any of you guys recommend Rote/Sumba end of Sept ? I hear the SE trades are strong down there, I was thinking/hoping they would have calmed a bit by end Sept ?

On the Crock subject, I swear the gods honest I've seen one near the ranger station at Panaitan 2 years ago , we were going ashore and there it was in 3ft of water just under the rib. I'd say about 2m long. Not massive but I wouldn't like to tackle it .

Cheers, i'm the Wisesa boat owner, be free to contact us for any inquiry or informations about surf charter.
Yes i do run both dive and surf cruises, but it doesn't mean that i don't know what i'm speaking about regarding Surfing, i'm surfer myself and understand very well the combination in between swell / wind / tides to choose a spot, no worries for that. Also on our surf cruises you always have a very professional & experienced surf guide who of course also know what he is speaking about, and always will be the first to jump in the water, as we are not beginners in this activity we know all the spots already.
September this year we did this cruise from 11 to 21 , we got wonderful conditions with very light winds, and we scored few spots, specially in Sumba, i can send you the pics par email.
It's true that September is at the shoulder season often wind is good but if the season is late, we can still have the strong tradewind that affect more Rote & Savu rather than Sumba (where we have more protected spots) it's why in September we like to do a start & finish in Sumba, then we can go up to Savu &,Raijua if sea conditions permitting.

I would think that they would want to have more spots than just Nemberala that work in the trades for September.
