Wot to do in a Melbourne Winter

I joined Swell net today...
I been sucking off them for so long
I felt I wasn't being Australian ..
so my daughter saw the guilt and signed me up for my Birthday ..

Now I feel i have a license to fill the blogs like the rest of the swarm ..hopefully it will make sense cus its late .I am older. and I don't care anymore - wot others think ..
Isn't that a nice spot to be in.? ??...

Here's the ramble ...
I hope it helps anyone feeling a little down ..

As we all know winter is not all that good in Melbourne,,,
After some years' experience I've come to realize that u just have to ride the seasons out ...
If yr in Melb. that means hibernating ...

If your unfamiliar with the process
I'll.. lay it out for u..

First stock up with food
(It helps if yr got 300 mtr to walk to an Aldi store )..Ya ho!...

(Every real estate seller mantra. Location, Location. location)
(pub 200mtrs, recreational assistance everywhere, beach 1 km, The Gatwick 2 kms).

Next become a chef
..got u got so much shit flying at u from the media ..24hrs ..

But choose wisely
only listen to Anthony Bourbon,
he is the only one to tell ya straight up wot food is about
..(Anthony ..Vale )

So go fill your stomach
visit the local Indian/Asian food shop.
there's a whole world of tastes in there to discover..
(inc, tomatoes flavored US via India to Aus, chips $2 bargain)
..(there even got killer mushrooms if yr interested...)

Next is tightening down hatchers ...

and staying warm
(It is called the southern artic Ocean for good reason
Its frigging ice cold
but it's does deliver the swells and NWs for Bells,
a consultation prize for the bitterness.
besides it put hairs on your hairs
giving a double lined hairy balls characteristic
for Vic winter surfers,
they don't walk. its more of a waddle)

Cold proof yr houses critical
Good whiz bang Panasonic split cycle a/c.
goes well in small units like mine ..
does the whole house in 60 secs ..
..Instant Bali...just need to light some incense ..

Another good trick learnt from the West Coast Otways ..which get very very cold ..
Insulation panels
place in windows at night
(avail at Bunnings @ $20 a sheet)
U can cut to size to fit window panel ..
if ya artistic u can wallpaper them with yr favorite surf spot
,,but i won't tell ya wot I got hanging on me wall

Next you got to find a project.
something to really occupy yourself with
.... like the time I was housing sitting for my daughter
in Woollangong ..

All it did was rain rain rain and rain .oh and .on on shore on shore-shores.
...F.ck i thought, only idiots wud live here ...?..
Anyway ..me and the dog ...
...watched the entire series of Breaking Bad .
+ other series about? the lawyer bloke ..
Me & the dog cruised the beach in the Arvo

Living on the Pacific is grand esp. for a Vicco ..
..I hope you appreciate how lucky u got it
That Gt Oz coastal current
that flows from the nth/east
bringing all its warmth
...if that's living in Wollongong .. I'll take it ..

Anyway, back in Melb. I waz saying u got to find a project ..
in winter to keep u occupied ...

..last yr I did the stock mkt..
...just as I was getting the hang of it ...
..Trump appears on the scene ..
..all bets are off the table ..
the guys fckn mad ..,,

I think I will wait till the smoke clears ...
and equilibrium returns along with sanity ..
But I did learn something ..
NVidia
has the inside edge on AI for the next 10 yrs ,,
they own /control the super chip ..
and that is wot Donald wants,,
This is one of the reasons why the Chinese
want to invade Taiwan
....no other reason other than.

Meanwhile about this yrs project for winter ...

I sail on Port Phillip Bay
a 40it's an old tug.
. but we managed to out maneuverer
some of the better boats
by better I mean $$$$$$ boats
Anyway, occasionally we have a lucky day ..
and upset them ..
Nothing better than walking into the bar after
a 1st and smiling at the rich * famous.
who paid a fortune .. for the privilege
of being beaten by ...da dogs!,, ha

Anyway we happen to lose
this summers series by
.. wud u believe ,,a whole ,.0.4 secs
FFFF,,,,,,,,,,,cccckkkkkk..
(someone needs to die for this ) ..

So I take my anger and redirect it..
Its off season now
we only sail every 2nd week ...
and the boss (capt)
is away,, in the med ..(some hav a life)..

Anyway ..I getting to the point of the story ..
To overcome my deep frustration, I decided
....I'm going to crack the DNA of winds & weather ...

So I sat down
gathered together everything
I written about my past sailing experiences,
Dairy of weather events sailing tips advice
weather information from gurus, specifics of Port Phillip Bay winds
any other info I have collected in the last 20 yrs of sailing ..

Somehow, I decided
I am going to make it into an AI program...
Don't know how ..just yet ..
But at least I've got all the components ...
Just need to assemble them ..

(I've already discovered how to land a 40ft yacht
on a "postage stamp")
Useful when u want to start a race on the line
at max speed / 40ft 6 tons at 8 kts..
scares the fcken shit out people ,,,
( i think our boat is getting a bad rap on the start line for our tactics ) .

(We are even experimenting with golf range laser finder
to measure distance and speed to line
Next we are going to hire a frogman
to plant a tracking bug
on the hull of our competitors,
so we can track and cover them -
(Mossad (Isreal ) are good at making little unseen bugs).

I think that wud drive the other boat nuts
trying to work out why
we always got them covered ...

Anyway, the point I am making is,,
I learnt I knew nothing about weather ...

Reading swell nets assessments of LWT etc. was interesting but it didn't connect together ..
so I sat down
went back to uni ..on the www
for 3 mths. I have been discovering
about the drivers of world weather
the currents
the enormous interaction of systems within systems,, man,
the general bloke in the street would not know or understand
or have a clue of wots going on ..
or wots happening above there very heads ..
every day/night ..
Only true wind/weather
people sense wud sense the awe of it all.
I encourage anyone,,
who's a little bored on a raining on shore arvo ,,
tap into the www,
start exploring
start with Mr. Hadley and his cells ..then
working your way North & south then east and west ...
the systems current winds/temps
man ...its a whole new world ..

I can understand why the boys at swellnet
like their jobs,
,, reminds me of working for airlines
and getting paid to go surfing
very cushy , when u can make $$ from wot u love doing ..

...strangely few of us choose to do that ..

I will leave u with this small thought

Don’t keep forever on the public road.
Leave the beaten track behind occasionally and dive into the woods.
