Best Days: Saturday midday out of the wind as the swell builds across the South West, possibly dawn Sunday across the South West, much better Wednesday onwards

Recap

No surf the last couple of days with the coast becoming as small as it gets with hot offshore winds.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This weekend and next week (Feb 3 - 9)

Tomorrow morning will start tiny to flat again with an offshore NE wind, swinging more N'ly into the afternoon and the NW into the evening.

A new SW swell from a tight but intense polar low earlier this week should fill in, building to 3ft across the South West into the afternoon (tiny to the north).

A peak is expected Sunday morning to 3ft+, and the models are still a little divergent surrounding the local winds.

We're expected to see variable winds pre-dawn, but a W'ly change will move in soon after, so try and get out early as possible and keep an eye on the local wind observations and the surf cams on first light.

A light SE wind is due on Monday morning but we'll hardly see any surf with fading 2ft sets across the South West, flat to the north.

We've finally got some better swell on the cards mid-late week as a slow moving frontal progression pushes up towards us through Sunday and early next week.

A fetch of strong to gale-force W/SW winds will initially be generated through our south-western swell window, with a weaker elongated fetch of SW winds developing after through our southern swell window.

This should produce some fun swell, building later Tuesday and peaking Wednesday morning to the 6ft range across the South West, 2ft+ in Mandurah and 1-2ft in Perth.

Winds look good and from the SE Wednesday morning, with a slow drop in swell and swing in direction to the S/SW Thursday under E/SE offshores. Friday looks clean and smaller again, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
