South Australian Forecast (issued Wednesday 11th November)

Best Days: Mid Coast later Friday and Saturday, then Sunday morning, South Coast Monday morning

Recap

A good reinforcing SW groundswell filled in yesterday providing better 1-2ft waves across the Mid as winds remained favourable most of the day, while the South Coast saw terrible conditions but plenty of size.

A slight drop in size has been seen today with clean 1-1.5ft leftovers on the Mid, and onshore junky waves down South with E/SE breezes.

This week and weekend (Nov 12 - 15)

South Coast: The coming forecast period is quite poor, with relentless S/SE winds due to spoil some good swell energy from tomorrow right through until Monday. This will be due to a persistent ridge of high pressure sitting in the Bight from now through until early next week.

Tomorrow will see easing levels of SW groundswell with fresh to strong S'ly tending S/SW winds, becoming smaller Friday with strengthening S/SE tending S'ly winds.

Into later Friday an initial increase in W/SW swell is due ahead of a stronger swell Saturday, generated by a vigorous polar low through the south-east Indian Ocean the last couple of days.

This low is passing under WA today while weakening and dipping down towards Antarctica, leaving a moderate to large W/SW groundswell in its wake.

Middleton should peak Saturday to 3-4ft+ with 6ft sets at Waits and Parsons, but along with persistent and fresh S'ly winds.

A drop in size is due through Sunday as winds tend more SE-E/SE, keeping conditions well below average.

Mid Coast: Tiny 0.5-1ft waves are due into tomorrow and early Friday as yesterday's swell continues to ease, but the late kick in W/SW groundswell due Friday afternoon should see 1-1.5ft sets across the coast.

Saturday will be the day to surf as the swell peaks to a good but inconsistent 2ft on the sets, easing back from 1-1.5ft on Sunday. Morning S/SE winds are due ahead of S/SW sea breezes, swinging back to the S/SE late again. Sunday should then be clean before afternoon sea breezes kick in.

Next week onwards (Nov 16 onwards)

South Coast: Monday will finally see winds swing offshore for the South Coast with a straight N'ly but small easing swell from the 2ft range at Middleton and 3ft+ at Waits and Parsons. Get in early as a shallow SW change is due into the afternoon.

Longer term there's nothing significant due until later in the week, due to a large blocking high deflecting swell generating storms away from us early next week. We'll have a closer look at this Friday though.

Mid Coast: There isn't expected to be much size at all left Monday with tiny clean 0.5ft to maybe 1ft sets, with effectively flat conditions from Tuesday. The better W/SW swell due later in the week is worth keeping an eye on, so check back Friday.
