Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 10th January)

Best Days: Early Saturday, Monday morning at south swell magnets

Recap

A fun SE swell continued to offer 2-3ft across the coast yesterday morning with light offshore winds, while today the swell was replaced by a more distinct NE windswell but with poor winds.

This weekend (Jan 11 - 13)

Today's NE windswell will ease back overnight as winds swing offshore, with beaches exposed to the swell expected to offer 1-2ft waves at dawn before fading during the day.

Sunday will see tiny levels of leftover NE windswell but a change moving through during the morning will kick up an afternoon increase in S/SE windswell.

Next week (Jan 14 onwards)

A better pulse of S'ly swell is due Monday morning generated by a mid-latitude low pushing up past out coast on Sunday, with 2ft+ sets expected at south swell magnets under N'ly winds.

This swell will fade into the afternoon and the rest of the week will consist of small levels of NE windswell, that may become stronger into the end of the week and following weekend.

Longer term some tropical developments may bring some more meaningful swell the next week, but we'll review this Monday.
