I think they got that right remi. I reckon Ethan would have improved his right if he finished it but he went for a bigger punt because I guess he thought he needed more. And then didn’t complete his 2nd left. Can’t deny the risk and progression italo through in the higher risk mid wave portions, even if you don’t like his style.

I agree with you lostdoggy. I want to think Italos left was overscored due to being incomplete but until that point he had been shaping up a big score so I can't disagree with the judges. Ethan could have been given more for his first left, but he wasn't that exciting really. I hate judges because they didn't fudge the scores to have Ethan progress to the final. Also Italos first right, where's the variety? Overscored maybe? I don't know. 8.17. Fair enough. 'Maybe'.

Way I saw it Griff did repetitive moves right through the middle of the left - I counted 4 in a row, coulda been more - while Italo did a 'combination of major moves', blow tails, lateral power carves, even rode backwards for a while, and both finished with the same move. Yet got the same score?

Somewhat incomprehensibly, the wsl finds its nadir hundreds of miles from the coast, in a paddock under wafting fertiliser dust, unable to quite find a believable scoring difference in applying criteria to an identically repeatable wave. Trying to drive engagement with a train engine greased with Californian love and little else. I really want the WSL to succeed but the whole bedshit to bedshit approach is helping no one. This is a particularly low point.
