Better Days

To cope with the miniscule monotony Swellnet photographer, Jack Dekort, has trawled back through his recent archives. Lifting his spirits by recollecting better days from the past year.

Not So Sunny Coast

Here, Jack puts his imune system to the test, while also baiting himself in the bush to those sneaky blood suckers, all to capture these grey but moody images from the not so Sunny Coast.

Saturation Point

Jack Dekort was on the ground in Bali and saw the lineups reach saturation point with the likes of Rob Machado, Craig Anderson and Ozzie Wright sharing waves with 70 other punters and 20 water photographers.

Canggu Sunset Power Session

On the backside of the swell Jack went for a swim at Canggu as the sun started to set, capturing Sam Rhodes (teal boardshorts) and Levi Torresi in a high performance power session.

One more day of denial

The anguish of being a surf photographer!

For six days the Gold and Sunshine Coast's have been pumping and Swellnet photographer, Jack Dekort, hasn't surfed once. Oh, he's been in the water alright, scored a raft of killer photos, but is yet to catch a wave himself. Commitment? Devotion? Deranged..? Whatever, from our point of view his denial oughta be applauded.

These photos are from Thursday at you-know-where. We'll have more of Jack's hard-earned images - with some utter gold amongst them - on the site early next week.

Mix Tape

Jack Dekort has been spicing things up of late. Varying his shots between tack-sharp hi-fi images of Ziggy Alberts, kinetic speed blurs of Matt Hill, and moody empties in a Jon Frank vein. P'raps he's curious, or bored, or adaptable...whatever, here's his talest mix from a week on the Sunny Coast.

Highway Run

It starts with the 3am crunch of tyres on a gravel driveway, boards in the back, minimal chat. Then thunder down the highway, toons on the deck, a cup of coffee, and warm to the day as the sun rises over an empty beach.

A few sessions on new terrain rounded out by a full-scale, take-no-prisoner bakery strike - Portuegese Tarts 'n all. Later bump into a few crew and have a sly sesh at a breakwall on the way home.

Unknown, unsponsored, unbelievably shacked.

When this Duranbah sequence landed in front of me I was trying to identify who the surfer was. After all, with a smooth, mid-face transition into a long and well-ridden pit you'd think the fella would be sponsored, right?

Around The Grounds: Part 1 Gold Coast

This Easter was one of the most fruitful in recent memory with almost every surfable coast on the continent receiving great waves. Over the next two days we'll be running Swellnet Sessions from the Gold Coast, Sydney, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia too. Yeah, everywhere pumped.

First up is Swellnet photographer, Jack Dekort, who made a quick trip from his Sunny Coast home to the Gold Coast to capture these great images.

Sunny Coast Sun

The Sunshine Coast has been struggling to meet its moniker the past week. Persistent rain has blocked the sun and caused flooding of LNP proportions. Once the clouds parted and the sun shone again Jack Dekort followed Mitch Adams to the beach and nabbed these shots.

Mitch on rail and in the air.

Beachies and Points

We've got leaps and bounds for the footyheads, Saints and Kings for the inner-city dwellers, and six and out for the cricket yobs.

Well, here's our surfing version - Beachies and Points. As shot by Jack Dekort and featuring Mitch Adams launching on the beach and Jackson Winter styling on the point.

Golden Hour on the Points

The Noosa Festival of Surfing is currently in full swing with competitors riding a variety of craft while traversing First Point. Earlier this week a crew including Jack Lynch, Jackson Winter, Mat Chojnacki, Luke Potter and Mark Sharp shucked the contest vests and took to the water in the wee twilight hour.

Jack Dekort caught them having a ball as the sun dipped in the west casting a golden light on the water.
