With lockdowns happening around the world Australian surfers appear to be at quite an advantage when it comes to training (read: actual surfing).

Although I for one highly doubt this year’s tour will ever get off the ground due to the international nature of it and the ensuing restrictions each different country will impose on travel.

......BUT if it were to (or even for next year), Aussie surfers are able to get the reps in, in our prime surf season.

I’m imagining Julian Wilson scoring pumping Merewether last weekend, Jack Robbo doing laps of the SW, etc.

Meanwhile American and European surfers cannot enter the ocean. Not so sure about Brazilians or Saffas?. Hawaiians can surf but coming out of north shore surf season.

It’d be like half the AFL comp getting a pre-season in and the other half of the teams doing push ups at home.

How many foreign pros managed to stay here for lockdown?

Leo
Kelly
Rookie South African Matt McGillivray

There’s definitely a number of QS surfers that have stayed here.

Not all of America can’t surf but mainlanders won’t have as good surf on offer as Oz

Hawaiian’s will be surfing
Jordy’s on the North Shore still surfing

I assume the tahitians can surf?
