Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 27th March)

Best Days: Sunday, Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at exposed breaks

Recap

Near flat conditions around Perth yesterday and more so into today, with clean small waves at exposed breaks around Margs and Gero.

This weekend (Mar 28 - 29)

A very slight uptick in size is due tomorrow across the South West but with less than favourable S/SE winds, while Perth will see better E/SE winds but no real swell (Gero SE winds).

A stronger increase in SW groundswell is still due on Sunday but the size has been pegged back a touch with the frontal progression which is just to our south-west not being quite as strong as forecast on Wednesday.

Still we should see Margs building to 5-6ft through the late afternoon with Perth only jumping to 1-2ft late and Gero 3ft. Winds should be good and offshore from the E/SE across Margs and Gero Sunday morning, E/NE around Perth ahead of S/SW sea breezes.

Next week onwards (Mar 29 onwards)

Monday morning should still offer good size across all coasts with an easing swell from 4-6ft in Margs, 1-2ft in Perth and 3-4ft up at Gero but winds don't look as favourable as Sunday with a light SE'ly around Margs and Gero, better and from the E/SE in Perth.

The swell should continue to ease through Tuesday although a reinforcing SW groundswell should soften this trend, generated by a late developing frontal system tomorrow evening.

Margs should drop from 3-5ft with 1-1.5ft sets around Perth and 2-3ft surf up at Gero under variable winds through the morning.

For the rest of the week there's nothing significant on the cards, with a very long-period SW groundswell in the mix Tuesday having no major size, while a small short-period swell Thursday will struggle to get above 3-4ft with tiny 1ft waves around Perth.

Winds should be favourable though and offshore from the E each morning with Friday looking a little dicey.

Longer term a moderate sized and inconsistent SW groundswell is on the cards for Saturday with favourable winds, but we'll have a closer look at this on Monday. Have a great weekend!
