Recap

Small S swell yesterday reached 2ft in the a’noon at S facing beaches under light winds. SW-S winds have increased today with an increase in S swell to 2-3ft at S facing beaches reported.

This weekend and next week (Mar 3 - Mar10)

No great change to the weekend f/cast. A weak ridge from a high (1023hPa) tracking towards Tasmania supplies light winds tomorrow, likely variable inshore early before tending NE freshening through the day as the high quickly slips NE of the Island. Expect fun sized swell to 2-3ft at S facing beaches.

Through Sun we’ll see increasing NE-N winds, along with a vey well aimed fetch of NE winds off the Gippsland to Bass Strait stretch whipping up NE windswell. Expect 3-5ft surf early under fresh NE winds, peaking with 6ft sets before easing during the a’noon as the fetch gets shunted E’wards by an approaching complex low. With winds tending NNW in the a’noon there should be some fun waves  to be had.

Monday sees clean NE windswell to 3-4ft with offshore winds providing groomed conditions, as a complex low brings synoptic W’ly winds and wintry conditions.

NE winds are persistent off the NSW coast next week which should hold NE swell to 2ft Tues and a last little spike Wed wth 2-3ft surf. Conditions remain groomed with continuing W-W/NW winds being driven across the state.

By Thurs the low starts to move E and we’ll see small S swell making landfall as SSW winds sweep past Tasmania (see below). Expect surf to 3ft from the S with winds shifting more W/SW-SW as the trailing fetches behind the low sweep up through the state.

Complex low brings small S swell pulses next week

S swell is on track to peak Fri  as the low slowly moves through the lower Tasman. Expect surf from the S to 3-5ft at S facing beaches, smaller elsewhere. Winds look OK, with a W’ly bias through the day.

Longer term and we’ll see swells ease into next weekend.

Check back Mon for a fresh look at it and have a great weekend!
