Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Tuesday 12th May)

Best Days: Thursday, Friday morning, Sunday afternoon onwards

This week (May 13 - 15)

A small new inconsistent SW groundswell due today is expected to ease back through tomorrow ahead of a better SW swell Thursday. This was generated in our far south-western swell window to the south of South Africa.

Exposed spots should offer infrequent 4-5ft+ waves through Thursday before easing Friday from 3-5ft and further down through Saturday.

The trades should weaken a touch into tomorrow before strengthening again through Thursday and Friday, easing into Saturday and becoming lighter Sunday. Variable winds will be seen each morning still across most spots due to local land breezes.

This weekend onwards (May 16 onwards)

From Sunday fun levels of SW and then S/SW groundswell are expected across the region from a series of not overly strong but favourably aligned polar frontal systems pushing up and towards us.

The first pulse building Sunday will be the least consistent with a secondary pulse through Tuesday and then another inconsistent pulse Thursday afternoon.

Exposed breaks should kick to 5-6ft later Sunday, hold Monday and then 5-6ft+ through the day Tuesday. A slight drop is due through Wednesday ahead of Thursday afternoon's pulse again to 5-6ft.

Weaker trades are due through all next week opening up exposed breaks for longer each morning when winds should be more variable.

Longer term some better groundswell is on the cards for later in the month, but we'll look at this closer Thursday.
