Surfing Life and White Horses to be sold
Pacific Star Network (PNW), publishers of Surfing Life and White Horses, are currently in negotiations to sell both titles.
PNW acquired Surfing Life and White Horses in November 2014 when they purchased Morrison Media. The deal gave them ownership of the hugely popular Frankie, plus Smith Journal.
In an interview with Swellnet in November 2014, Peter Morrison said part of the PNW deal is that staff at Surfing Life and White Horses will retain their jobs and also remain in their Burleigh Heads office (PNW headquarters is in Melbourne).
The arrangement wasn't permanent and with PNW's focus on Frankie there was always the risk of subsequent change.
The situation mirrors many of the surf brands who floated on the share market and were consequently run by non-surfers. It's understood the potential buyers are the current magazine staff, hence the titles would be owned and run by surfers again.
Surfing Life started in August 1985 as Australia's Surfing Life, founded by Peter Morrison with a goal to "fill a void in Oz surf publications." Morrison ran it for 29 years before selling in 2014 to work on other projects. Surfing Life is currently up to issue 331. White Horses began in 2013 under the care of Gra Murdoch. It quickly became coveted by surfers "of a certain age" for its quality layout and content, plus its inclusive style.

Hell, surfstitch are buying more distribution channels?
That's the first thing that jumped into my head when I glimpsed the title.
Hahahaaa ... fuck, I need to go surfing :(
wonder if a sort of co-operative ownership arrangement would work for something like White Horses?
does this mean the racists are selling it or did they already offload it after their otis article?
