Watch: Jai Glindeman // Free Flow
Why does a song sound good?
Why does a painting appeal?
Why are some surfers so eye-catching? They ride the same waves, on the same boards, do very similar moves, but our response is different.
Style is a topic that endlessly does the rounds: What is it? Who has it?
Jai Glindeman most certainly does, but what is he doing to create good style. Quiet hands? Angled front foot? Squat stance?
The floor is open, put your thoughts in the comments. One thing I will note is that the foundations of Jai's style: how he bends his knees and where he stands on the board - further forward than is normal - is very similar to a bunch of other surfers. Namely Shane Herring, Ellis Ericson, and even Cheyne Horan - all of them surfers that had both style and power.

omg @2:15...
Yep, that is a sick clip!!
He certainly rips doesn't he. Unique style...feet further forward, closer together and seems to drive his turns whilst constantly in flow and trim. No fill in that footage either...didn't he get some waves!
As an aside...I've heard from multiple people he's become a bit too greedy in the water recently...
That's not been my experience and I've surfed with him plenty.
Always seems really chill and respectful in the water when I've seen him in action.
Why the past tense for Ellis? He's still around and still ripping.
Ahh didn't mean to imply that he's past it, just the others in that list. Ellis still rips and has the classic 'power squat' style.
Best style around, I reckon.
Like a cobra in a silk scarf - a good description I saw.
Those shots of cloudy are insane how is the size!
Pure power surfing. And not a single air. Loved it.
Anyone know what that board is he is riding on that right at the 6:00 minute mark - think it's Northpoint WA? Looks really short - but heaps of volume and fast as f#@$....
JS Goldenchild ?
The Backfoot 3 inches in Front of the Tail Pad in that Section...Fuckn Hellova Good Surfer
Check the Heel nToe Movement Here
Hell Yeah...Im a gunna try me that next session. I picked up an old Psycho Nitro second hand and its so short (for me) that I find myself riding with the back foot forward and it just flies...might have to look down and check my foot placement. That's beautiful to watch. Seems to smooth the style out and he still puts it on rail. So cool.
That was GOOD! There are a fair few of these personal promotional clips where the surfing is great but some of the wave quality can be a bit mediocre. The waves on this clip are just about all primo ‘in your dreams’ quality.
