Watch: Tim Bonython // Five Days At Peahi - Part 1
Here's the first episode of the recent glut of XXL swell on Maui. The Eddie may have caught the real time attention but it was Maui where the cutting edge was revealed. The last burst of swell - not shown in this video, still to come in Part 2 - featured some of the largest waves ever attempted at Peahi.
The domestic flights were chequered with surfers. Names you saw at the Eddie, also appear here, and then also appear in Tucker Wooding's edit from Mavericks.
More impressive, however, are the lesser lights who appear. Take Sam Yoon for instance. More commonly seen riding oversized equipment when Kirra is reeling, ol' Flying Sammy gets a few here from deep on the peak - committed to the max.
We'll post Part 2, when the really big stuff made landfall, in two days time.

Bloke burning Russ ?
Hot tip, watch at double speed with the sound off.
Kings to you, thanks!
Well played....I got a few minutes in and forgot I had it double speed! The WHOLE thing must be in slow mo?
the wave of the day photo with BS surfing 2.1.25 is just mind boggling. literly death on a stick.
The blue water in this video makes Mavericks look so much meaner
Even at double speed it's still slow mo. Fuck me that's bad. I lasted 2 waves.
Just watched part 2 earlier this morning . I noticed Yuri when individually acknowledging the surfers out there, didn’t mention Albee , maybe some tension between them after Albee spelt out his instagram message .
Here’s Albee’s insta comment
