Watch: Aileens By Air And Water
You may recall the video of Aileens we posted last weekend, which was all shot from the clifftop. In the post, we anticipated what the water angles of those would be look.
Well, wait no more as here's both water and air footy of Russ Bierke and Taz Knight, plus a few other hard-charging locals, on the bombs.
The video has questionable editing but the captures are spot on.

do we really need that relgious bullshit? no. no we don't. shut it. st. patricks day. what a lot of fucken garbage.
Relax it is just an excuse to have a pint of Guiness.
Constructing an entire faith-based paradigm and maintaining it for centuries on end in the face of clear evidence that it's a load of nonsense seems like a lot effort to go through just because you're looking for an excuse to drink a pint of Guinness... but then again better off having a drink than indulging in some of those those other (shall we say) faith-based activities that the RCs are famous for.
Be careful what you wish four or may just lose around 4 or 5 public holidays a year.
A big pass on the god bothering from me too…but bless old mate…it’s his vid and it obviously gives him meaning and joy.
Bloody epic conditions though. As clean as I’ve ever seen it. How much would you like to have been out there!!
A pretty good explanation of how most surfers face those bigger days right on the limits of their ability.
Unreal...how gd were the conditions...so clean
I enjoyed his little Rant
Pogue Mahone to all of youse
It’s culturally appropriate, but not for me. I watched with the sound off. Great waves by Rus and Taz, seemed to have their pick. The local lads looked a bit shy apart from the lid, mind you I wouldn’t even be out there so I am not going to criticise.
Three things that you are expressly not allowed to be now: White, male, christian.
They can suck it up, they've had a pretty good run these last couple thousand years.
The most persecuted group in history for sure!
it would seem bashing religion is quite in vogue in the media anyway
what a lot of bullshit.
@Island Bay - yeah according to the febrile right wing soft cock sooks who can't take the slightest criticism nor construct anything more than the most specious of arguments with respect to anything. White male here. Don't care if you're a god -botherer or not and you're welcome to it, but if you start giving me a mouthful of your god bothering garbage you should probably expect a response.
Cuppa tea and a lie down.
Spot on
I find it fascinating, and somewhat repulsive, that a seemingly intelligent person can be so invested in beliefs based on incredible stories concocted millennia ago.
Waves amazing and surprisingly mostly empty.... I mean, obviously very challenging and scary but,... come on you Irish guys... have a f#ckn crack would ya!
People now days believe men can be women and vice versa. Go figure.
Great waves and hard charging by the Aussy lads and the lid.
Good effort just to be having a go for the rest.
I didn't mind learning a bit about St Patrick - I didn't know anything about him.
Old mate appears to have more peace in his life than most, so maybe there is something in that.

That wave peeling off the island looked very pleasant too.
Sick clip until the god bothering peado bullshit at the end just fucked it
Have to pick the right one sometimes it looks the the best bet is the chip in from behind the peak being the easiest way in. Lot of guys not catching anything in the line up you wonder why they are out there in 8º water temp and not on the shore having a Guiness. Seems a nice guy however he seems to have missed the catholic schools I went to which turned me completely off any sort of religion.
C'mon now..! Can I get an "Amen"....??
Epic waves!! That West Coast of Ireland has soooo many set-ups
Doesn't sound like anyone on here is going to be easily converted....
Another one of Taz Knight shot from the water. Incredible wave.
Aileens roll-in to ultra grower:
IB that's the old school way.
this new video with Russ is the new school way: no roll in ! & behind the peak
If there really is a God - why doesn't he send us more qual waves ??? :)
Some seriously good setups over there! How was that left! Cold Water Indo!
Years ago I saw an episode of a bbc doco series called coasts, anyway this episode focuses on some very rare plant species that have evolved to survive in a very tiny place where they shouldn’t have survived a week but somehow survived amillenia. Anyhow towards the end of the episode about 2 minutes of footage obviously filmed in a different season, it showcases what I can only describe as the greatest wave I’ve ever seen. It was a very long peeling right point comfortably holding well over 10’ in an unchanging bellow sea level tehopue type barrel it’s entire length. As far as I know it’s not been seen in this current run of Irish clips. It’s power and size seemed to have no place peeling so long a distance with such perfect shape. The episode was filmed in county Clair
Reckon it's Ailleens Seaweed:

Thanks mate that’s been a blurry memory in the recesses of my mind for years. But regarding the world breaking party wave, it probably gets exceeded every day at the super bank.
Nah, really sweet wave Seaweed, I hope seeing the vision again didn't burst the memory-bubble too much... well noted, I really enjoy Coast, and that episode had slipped me by.
(during lockdown, my partner and I had an occasional joke, trying to wake earliest, make toast for the other, and drop it off announcing 'this... is Toast!' with a serious Neil Oliver stare, a hair-sweep turn, then striding off purposefully to the middle distance. Ahh, the long groundhog days just flew by...)
