Dan's Labor got spanked dropping a massive 5.6% of vote yet bizarrely lost no seats?

Current State Total Vote Count ALP 965 K (vs) LNP 896 K.
Vic tally is closing faster with each postal Vote favouring LNP.( Noting 31.77% votes to count?)
Oz Media would assume that LNP is on track to overtake ALP on Votes cast to Win Vic % Vote!

Media "Landslide"..."

as I heard this morning, dandrews has 'the laptop class' sewn up

but in traditional labor seats ie. those that actually have to do work... those that either lost work, lost businesses, or had to slave through the pandemic... there was a huge corona backlash...

but it was all in strong labor seats where the backlash wasn't strong enough to actually flip the seats

and, ironically, in these ip obsessed times... those seats (and backlash) was probably made up by a large proportion of new migrants... 'the people of colour' ...as is polite to say in some circles...

no landslide, just kinda lucky where it mattered (a bit trumpy 2016 you might say... or not...)

if anything, there was a huge movement away from labor for victoria - 'the very labor state' - much like federally, the two major parties are scraping through on pretty unconvincing primary votes

you go you little voter!

vote the bastards out

eventually...

I just dont understand why the backlash hasn't been far bigger especially in the burbs and the area where burbs merge to regional areas.

It's not just peoples jobs and business that were lost but lockdowns took a toll on families in all kinds of ways, many kids educations have been put backwards if you compare victoria's lockdowns to other areas of Australia or the world they were far stricter with no extra benefit, add in all the other debacles with quarantine ect and the hole dug should be way too deep to get out off.

And then add in the debt blow out with little to show for it.

Its baffling even with such a poor opposition you would have thought people would want some kind of justice, but it's like Covid and lockdowns have all been erased from peoples minds.

Having an actually opposition with a half decent leader that actually stood for something would have helped but still, its crazy that people can be so negatively affected and then still vote for the same government that treated them so badly.

They ran the virus to zero, only place in the western world to do so. Then he flipped and went along with NSW libs and fed libs, so he should draw fire from both sides.

But it's the most progressive state in Oz, don't expect it to change easily. What it means is state debt is going to grow more. What state was Vic in in the early 1990s?

@sypkan , just curious as to what type of government you would like to see in the future. If it isn’t the labor or lnp who would you like it to be ? Would you like independents to run parliament ? How would a prime minister be elected? Or is that something you would like to see changed as well ? Could you realistically see enough independents being able to agree and get new legislation passed ? I do agree that there needs to be reforms in tax and IR but how could this come about with independents running the show ? Just curious as to what voting the bastards out will achieve and why independents replacing them is the answer ?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-11-27/victoria-election-2022-result-tri...

"Quiet Victorians spoke on Saturday night to deliver Dan Andrews another term as Victorian premier.

The deafening noise of the divisive pandemic era — leading into a toxic election campaign — had continuously amplified the voices of the angriest, most-disgruntled Victorians.

Quiet voters don’t get the headlines. They don’t make the fuss. They just get on with their lives, and they made the decision that Labor and its polarising premier were worth re-electing. "

"While the Andrews government has received a substantial swing against it — especially in its western suburbs heartland — the Liberal Party failed to capitalise on it at a time where the dominant media narrative was that Labor was finished.

This result is the biggest wake-up call for the Liberal Party. Its strategy failed to appeal to millennial voters and those younger still, and the party is now in substantial trouble."

Here's the Polwarth summary, Richard Riordan wins for the libs:

https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/results/2022-state-election-results/results-b...

and here's the split by voting centre. Richard might wish to do anything possible to stop Torquay and Torquay North (edit, all the coastal towns... the coast/inland split is profound) growing further given the ALP vote there after preferences, lol. Check how different they are to the other voting centres! Big greens vote probably goes toward this.

tbb should've shared credits > Vic Election stats (Sorry 'bout that!)

Vic Election commission wasn't forthcoming so tbb flicked over to Wiki /ABC /Age for half decent stats!
Sure! Its seems odd ... Happy to share wotz important to Vic Crew.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Victorian_state_election

Green Ant Bully threatens to magnify these little itty bitty Vic LNP voters tally.
"Please Stand Back! Further!...Gonna need to make some more room...Wot! Huh! "
Update 68.3% State Electoral Votes counted ( Postal Votes favouring LNP )

2022 (Swing % ) Victoria Fed Votes > State Votes
ALP Fed -4.01% > State Votes 1,057,499 (37%) -5.8% (Winner Dan is hastening ALP demise!)
LNP Fed -5.18% > State Votes 1,000,654 (36.1%) -0.1% ( Loser Guy won back 5% of Lib Vote)
Greens Fed +1.85% > State Votes +0.63% (Green vote collapsed by over 1%)

Pause! Every person in Politics & Media can clock Dan's dire demise by the minute!

https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/vic/2022/results/party-totals

The Age > [ALP] Tally is sliding real fast > soon be plummeting beneath Steady [LNP] Tally!
Sure! Lets not talk about the Elephant in the room...wheel out the Girl to jump from the Cake! OMG!
https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/state-election-2022-results

Dan is fast losing Vic Popular Vote Mandate...
Ant's Next Count (Today / Tomorrow Update) ALP will be a minority Vic Govt by % vote!

tbb is advising ALP victory Parade to engage brain before frothin' at the mouth...
Enjoy yer Victory but accept a harsh dose of reality that Dan is less popular than that other retiring Guy!
Noting that soon to be Vic's most popular choice of Leader has already resigned...(Wow!)
Good Luck Vic...Enjoy living under the biggest loser's shadow!

[disclaimer] tbb is 100% certified neutral!
Just sharing the blatantly obvious wot media fail to acknowledge...
Can assure that these stats have sternly & hurriedly been frowned upon as being of little consequence!
So Vic can just carry on with least most popular Leader with fastest waning support! (All Cool!)

NSW goes to the polls in four months. If Chris Minns gets up over Dom it will mean the ALP is in power across the entire mainland, State and Federal . It will be interesting to see how the LNP and the media barons that support them react to the result in Vic. and the prospect of oblivion. They have a lot of work to do as the brand has suffered enormously it seems by lurching far right, poor leadership, embracing climate change denial and inaction, losing the female and younger demographic, and embracing the Christo-facist nutters. Do they continue with a direction that has failed them or move back towards a centre right philosophy and outlook more in line with Menzies original positioning. Australia appears to have shifted on them and they need to find out where it is and act accordingly or it may be a long time before they get in anywhere again. Female leadership and abandoning the fossil fuel backers would be a good place to start, but not likely.

ALP Governed Federally & in all States & Territories from 3rd Dec 2007-23rd Sept 2008

(Salute!) Wiki uncovered this exact same Aussie Voter's Anomaly + real handy timeline slide graph.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premiers_and_chief_ministers_of_the_Austra...

Guy Smiley > Yes! During 2022 > Local Dan -5.87% has lost more Vic Votes than outsider Scomo -5.18%
Almost impossible! But there ya go! Now compare the Media Fanfare for the Biggest Loser?

LNP Vote dropped -5.18% in May Fed Poll but clawed back by Guy to -0.1% Vote drop in Nov State Poll.
Yes! Of course we're comparing Fed > State...but this same result can be fact checked in each Leader's Seat.
But it shows Mathew Guy lifting the Scomo Curse to limit relatively minor Voter % damage to State LNP Vote.

Bulleen - Mathew Guy 48.2% dropped to (2022) 48.16% (Postal Votes are Likely to improve on his vote!)

Plummeting Vic ALP Voter % shows Dan is most unpopular & dragging ALBO further down into the Abyss!

Mulgrave Dan Andrews 56.73% dropped to (2022) 51.04% reflecting State wide ALP -5.8% drop in Vote!

Honest Media should question massive fall in ALP Vic Fed > State > Dan's Vote > fastest eroding ALP voter Base!
Guess Wot! ALP shit don't stink! (The current biggest Losers just won the Vic Election...Like Wow Wipeout!)
Vic Election reveals Dan has been nest egging an ALP Time Bomb! ('Dan's Shout!')

""Quiet voters don’t get the headlines. They don’t make the fuss. They just get on with their lives, and they made the decision that Labor and its polarising premier were worth re-electing. ""

worth re-electing?

or the alternative was unelectable?

so so unelectable... yet got a significant portion of the vote regardless?

""While the Andrews government has received a substantial swing against it — especially in its western suburbs heartland — the Liberal Party failed to capitalise on it at a time where the dominant media narrative was that Labor was finished."

this is the area the analysis I heard was referring to...

(but some just can't help squealing 'questionable facts' and the like... (the denial and party nutter force is strong with this one))

"This result is the biggest wake-up call for the Liberal Party. Its strategy failed to appeal to millennial voters and those younger still, and the party is now in substantial trouble.""

yep, much like morrison, they went all hard negativity... as I said, even though dandrews is an absolute fuckwit, steering the most corrupt of governments... the electorate still don't hate him like the flabberghasted right wing nutters do...

and seeing the abject incompetence and uselessness of the right wing nutters, I guess many just couldn't go there

anyone but labor and liberal really

anyone at all...

at the end of the day, I can never ever ever put liberal above labor on my vote card (they both go last - even below ON of late...)

but the last few elections, there's been a few I have actively hoped labor don't win... (i just don't want to be responsible for the voting in of the liberals)...so make of all that what you will...

I just think labor don't deserve to win, they've sold people out for so long I just find them pathetic in whatever they now offer. they're corrupted and compromised to the extreme... and I'm not just talking about aldi bags of cash...

and dandrews and vic labor are a particulary stark example of this

they're all full professional politicians top to bottom, at least independents have some life / work experience behind them - ffs, even the libs have more 'norms' amongst them...

we're kinda stuck with the lib / lab duopoly for some time, so minority governments with a strong independents crossbench is my choice atm I guess

but ideally I'd like to see strong independent coalitions forming so we can move away from the two party duopoly dogma. plenty of other countries seem to do ok with 5 or 6, or even 12 smaller parties that form coalitions

in oz complacancy and apathy reign supreme, and the two majors have rode this for far too long, misleading the public there's no alternatives

I see this dam wall they have created is slowly crumbling, and that is a good thing, not before time... probably, hopefully... just in time... looking at the US...

but to be fair to the corrupt lying snivelling weasal cunt dan andrews... I actually largely support some of his recent ideas re. energy, and was actually quite impressed... until I heard about the debt, and thought how the hell is he going to pay for it?

labor in power 19 of the last 23 years... and a state debt larger than NSW, QLD, TAS combined! ...that's quite a record!

struggling health care system, shit roads, congestion, place is dirty, rundown, and packed out...

and dandrews solution? ...pack in some more, and run up some more debt to 'grow the economy' ...dudes a fucking clown, viccos a borderline basket case, the people should be pissed!!

Morriscum’s sermon today was all about how good a job he did and how many lives he saved and how he left Australia in a better position then what it was in before he became king pin . He spoke about being humble and served Australia every day to the best of his ability. If you wanted to know how many secret ministries he had , all you had to do was simply ask him , apparently it’s parliaments fault for not asking . I really thought he was going to use the line “ how good is Scott Morrison “ It was amazing at the end of his sermon on the mount to watch the LNP single file line up and congratulate him .unfuckingbelievable

Vic Election Paradox...we all see a Danslide (Good but mostly Bad!)
All see ALP hold Govt or win an extra seat or two but that's hardly a fair reflection on how Vic Voted.
Green Ant Bully [Factcheck]
Danslide (Translation!)

Upper ALP (-6.57%) -3 seats (vs) LNP ( +1.5%) + 3 seats = 8.7% swing to LNP +6 Upper Seat Gain
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Victorian_state_election
87.1% count (-5.8%) Danslide equals the largest post war era resentment of a sitting Victorian Govt
That's surely Blockbuster News? ( Apparently these days, that's considered fantastically shit hot! )
https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/vic/2022/results/party-totals
1979 (-5.9%) swing against [L+NP] resulted in the loss of 10 loose knit coalition seats.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Danslide only keeps going down, down deeper down...sinking to the murky bottom of the harbour!
Recap the largest Pendulum Swings for Defeated Leaders losing their safely padded Seats.
Media aren't interested in Sensationalism these days...might embarrass the Expert [Factcheckers]
-1.7% / 1999 Vic Premier Kennett (Rejected)
-4.14% / 2007 PM Howard > Media {Flogged by a little Woman}
-6.51% / 2022 Dept PM Frydenberg > Media {Flogged by a Little Woman} > Tipped to run again!
-8.13% / 2010 Vic Premier Brumby (Rejected)
-8.2% / 2022 PM Morrison > Media (Rightly Humiliated for the Next 1,000 years)
-8.5% / 2022 Vic Premier Andrews > Media "Our Heavenly Father is ordained Saint Dan!"
https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/vic/2022/guide/mulg

Clearly the crew were right that Premier Dan is ALP + Victoria + Oz biggest loser & greatest liability.
tbb is not saying this > History of Vic ballots is Billboarding > Time to go > Oz biggest Loser Dan.
Any political pundit banking on Dan is delusional, as he is more toxic than Scomo! (Check the swings!)
Dan would not be Premier if was running in a contestable seat...that is bleedin' obvious!
Fact that opposition Leader was not even half on the nose & fell on his sword on day one...says it all!

Historical all time record loss of respect in Dan's Govt but not one Victorian will call out #1 Bully!

Media can choose to ignore the elephant in the room but Victoria has clearly rejected Dan's Govt.
ALP machine & Faceless men + tbb read Danslide as meaning exactly that...Time to go you Big Bully!
Time for the Media to grow a brain & call it as it is.
2022 Danslide = Vic ALP Premier is bleeding a record 8.5% of Votes & lost 5.8% of supporters
tbb don't think it's wrong to call the Danslide News...it's hastening the demise of Vic Labor!
Again! tbb is neutral & never once dreamed to Vote for [L] & most likely never will.
This is about the demise of fair & decent minded media...that can no longer report openly on an election!
Corrupt Bully Pollies & constant blatant dumb arse media

Question of Murdoch Influence in Vic Premier Dan's 8.5% slide...
Who better to Poll about plotting Dan's demise than Sky News...All say Aye!

26th Nov 2022 Newspoll seemed to correctly shame an eerie 9% swing against Dan
Dan's satisfaction dropped 51 > 46% + Dissatisfied with Dan- up 44 > 48% (That's pretty close to the Mark)
Crew's call : Influence / Truthful reporting / Best bet polling of 2022 Vic Election (-8.5% swing against Dan) Wow!

It's seriously unbelievable and I'm not alone in that thought, you only have to look back at the comments from people here with little interest in politics and often not Victorians and their views on Dan and what he did to Victoria even outsiders can see how incompetent and destructive he has been.

Forget about me Supa, i feel for the people that lost loved ones due to Dans incompetence and people like my cousin that lost a well established business and went through hard lockdowns.

It goes to show you though that people don't always vote out bad leaders that sometimes if the alternative has little too offer and is just as unlikeable and stand for little it doesnt matter how bad the current leader/government is its not always a sure thing, LNP and Matt Guy were terrible in every regard which is crazy if they had been at least half electable it should have been a land slide victory for them considering Dans complete incompetence during covid, his world longest lockdowns, police state like dictatorship(even tear gas and rubber bullets) and all the suffering he caused, out of control debt and spending and then the endless corruption and scandals. "I dont recall"

Honestly I've tried to figure it out and only conclusion i can come up with is that people like a strong leader you see it all around the world and through history it doesn't matter if they are a bad or good leader you can literally be an evil dictator as long as they are a strong leader they will get a cult like following.

And as much as i despise Dan, he is a strong leader, he takes no shit and does things his own way (but this is also very dangerous), one of the key things he did was also turn up for media during Covid every single day and convinced people he was like some war leader fighting some war against this evil enemy, calling it things like a "wicked enemy" i dont know if it was planed but it was very clever it convinced a lot of weak minded people that he was their saviour when in reality he was the exact opposite.

I get people could be fooled by this if had nothing to compare against, but when you are siting side by side with other states that are doing far better when you are failing then its hard to explain, i think it comes down to a type of arrogance though of not wanting to accept your state that has become like a team really did fail and you almost convince yourself you are some type of winner.

When the equation is “it’s not me it’s the rest of the world” time to reevaluate your position and/or that of your information sources.

Federally, Labor is looking increasingly like a 2 or 3 term government and in Victoria Labor is looking at 4 consecutive terms minimum given the current majority. Looks like the silent majority is speaking loudly about what they want “their” governments to do.

1) the opposition are abysmal... not just miserable conservatives in disarray abysmal... but totally unappealling abysmal; mathew guy is toxic; last minute incompetence caught out; and they went negative, way way negative... misinterpreted the public nagative; and shacked up with nutters desperation; and offered little alternative from what I could see

2) whilst your assessment of corona and corruption above is spot on ...and it is just plain offensive how dandrews and co. face such issues... the public has moved on, they want corona behindthem, and they just accept 'the left' totally got corona wrong... with dandrews being an extreme of the extreme... in the game of extremely wrong...

3) viccos are weird, they pride themselves in being 'the most progressive state' (even if to outsiders they often appear as the most conservative) in this topsy turvy world of contenporary politics... so i suspect, a large portion of the population would never turn on their dan... no matter how much he gets it wrong, how much debt he racks up, and no matter how many corruption scandals he lies his way out of...

its cultism, in and amongst an age of faux tribalism perpetuated by a corrupt media and polical class

sorry indo, but you're surrounded by a bunch of sado-masochist (but conservative) weirdos...

Just saying.

I actually think they're doing alright too

and think they'll probably get 2 terms with the libs so all over the shop

he's like a brain dead footyhead, mindlessly cheering his team... or he's an extremist propaganda-ist, dutifully, repeatedly, point scoring every issue...

the irony runs thick with this one

Labor want to subsidise coal companies which are subject to price caps.
I think that tells you a whole lot about Labor.

There is a big difference between causation and correlation. Blaming new govt for present inflation situation is incredibly uninformed and ignorant.

I think you can when their whole mantra pre election was cost of living would go down under labor. Didn't need to be a financial genius to work out that was going to be extremely difficult if not impossible.
I'm not saying anyone else could do better but that is what they ran with.
You can't say it's early days either as imo it's only going to get worse.

Come on give him a break! Someone needs to stick up for those poor foreign owned fossil fuel companies paying minimal tax and receiving record profits from our natural resources. Of course Australians should pay more and if that means Australian businesses and households go broke, well hey, that's the market working how it should. Interference in the market never works, just compare Australia's tax revenue from its resources compared to Norway or Qatar!

Even the Tories in the UK introduced a 35% company super profit tax.

An obscure company with no website, no telephone number — and no employees — was used by one of Australia’s richest families to make $550,000 in secretive “donations” to the Liberal Party just weeks out from last year’s federal election. https://theklaxon.com.au/ztem-2/
