Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

I tend to get stuck in genre's for a while. Here's another Melbourne band from the so called "jangle pop" sound.

Good stuff crew always interesting, watched a little go betweens doco on telly the other night. When I was younger I didn't appreciate their song writing enough, It kind of lined up with a few of the forum threads of late title wise that Ive been reading and enjoying. Probably been thrashing the surf instrumentals on here but I find them relaxing. Judas still ruling. Makes me laugh too. Especially when I'm talking a leg off a chair on swellnet's hot topics or trying to squeeze a surf or swim. Keep them flowing.

‘99 spent a couple of weeks in the Republic. 3 weekends I stayed in Waterford with friends while I travelled through the week while they were at work. Epic fun. Saw this band. Waterford’s own. The lads spoke of them with reverence.

One of my favorite DJ's to dance to, Made friends with this DJ one night in 2005 or 2006 and i had a backpack on for my jacket and spare undies. He thought it was full of pingers and introduced me to all his temporary girlfriends (he had like 7)and i got access in the VIP booth. Good times.

What’s all this rubbish about dancing?

If you’re an Aussie bloke of any worth you should really be leaning against a wall up the back, feet planted firmly on the ground with perhaps a head bob to the beat as long as you don’t spill your beer. No moving till the last song before the lights come on which indicates it’s time to locate a root.

Haha dsds, i used to enjoy bustin a move to the right music, started off break dancing then got into raving(90's) and shuffling..i was offered a few jobs teaching people to dance or one add and my friends said i danced better than i surfed. I was one of the original Melbourne Shufflers, when a couple of traveller clubbers taught me.I wasnt as talented as my euro buddy though.
Pulled the ladies.Only problem was i couldnt find a room to go back to in the big smoke, had to travel 50 minutes to my mums house on the train.
Fell asleep going home many times and woke up on monday morning after the train had gone from bondi to cronulla about 6 times each way surrounded by people in suits..lol.

Right, I'm going to whack this up just cos I like lists.

This is a rough desert island albums list.
Top ten in no particular order.
A desert island list is quite different to a "best of all time" list - they might not be the ultimate but they cover an array of moods and situations.
Here goes.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Allman Brothers - At Fillmore East
Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, the Innocent and the E-Street Shuffle
The Church - either Heyday or The Blurred Crusade
AC/DC - Powerage
The Orb - Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
INXS - Shabooh Shoobah
Dire Straits - Dire Straits
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
Cold Chisel - East
Go Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane
Redgum - Caught in the Act

Ok, the top ten quickly blew out to top 16, so much for concision.
Maybe the only thing missing is some really good, driving, dirty progressive house for when you find that stash of gold tops somewhere on the island.

Also, it was real hard to leave out The Avalanches.
Actually, I think I'll include it.
A brilliant concept album.

That PIL doco was great. Never have got into their music. The pistols carnage still followed. I heard a big David Byrne and TH sound in bits. Did they influence Talking Heads?

Big thanx to crew for above trax...enjoying & will revisit + Udo's link...sounds great!
Just gonna tweak those low hanging old school Oz Loose ends...
Thanx blackers...wore out that brilliant 1979 Don't throw Stones LP
We Qldurrz loved the Sports & let it be known we treat' em real good every visit...Legends!

That's really clever icandig ... 2 cabs was a real good Alt stocking filler back in the day.
Again! Can vouch Qldurrz rated that Vic track...way up high!
Qldurrz will instinctively reward that contribution with a rare Brizzo B side.

1981 Xero (Lust in the Dust) Mini Lp (Qld bookend) > 1981 Models (Cut Lunch) Mini Lp
Yeah! Ok that's a big call but this band could support them on tour & maybe come away with the prize!
Brizzos do have a few secret gems locked away...Try to slot this one into that one...should go...Aargh!

Xero : Every Kiddy gets a Prize (AKA : The Brizzo Models) Rare track in the day (swellnet secret disc!)
Being serious...few Brizzos would dig out this rare B side...time to share the secret sound of Xero.

Thanks for nothing TBB. Xero look like a band I'll have to investigate further. I enjoyed the above tune. I note that some Go Betweens members also spent some time in Xero (which is a big plus in my book). I spent some time on the GC in the late 80's early 90's, but I was too late for the Brisbane punk movement by then and don't know much about it.

Qldurrz continued tribute to The Models
This next Alternative Oz Classic is impossibly perfect!
Our Salute to Vic New Wave Godz...
Enjoy a Perfect Sunday Cruiser...cop an earful of this!
1981 The Models ~ Cut Lunch (Mini LP - Side A - Track 3) "Atlantic Romantic"

Make mine a double... ( Oh Man! Don't tell me tbb is gonna cue that uber-cool Model's song...OMG! )
The Models ~ Happy Birthday I.B.M.

Gonna do it...Models deserve a triple play but with a Tribute to a fallen Vic New Wave idol.
Qldurrz & tbb were blown away by this Model Vic Rock Star.

May 1980 LP Breaking Silence ~ Release
27th May 1980 "James Freud & The Teenage Radio Stars" opened our Gary Numan Gig
Can tell cousin Vics that he blew away our ever fussy cranky crowd at Festival Hall.
4th May 1980 Here's the Countdown Gig... song is of course "Modern Girl" (Oz New Wave Holy Grail!)
Crew can thank icandig for reigniting swellnet Model triple play for our top notch Sunday Supplement.
