Aggressive blighter isn't he?

And not very bright if he thinks that reducing issues to binary discussions and false dichotomies, and aggressively shutting down anything else is good for the causes he claims to support.
Such a ninny.

Not having a go mate. That’s just what I have seen.

I think the gender thing is just dog whistling too. But that’s just me. I don’t think these issues are worth the time that is spent on them. Issues that “woke” can be applied to now since it’s appropriation from its original meaning are red herrings diverting attention from the real problems that face society.

Fark, I was hoping not to get involved in these retarded discussions.

Happy you had a good time in Indo. Can’t wait till I’m on my way.

I don't think putting a label on things as woke means we avoid discussing things, but sometimes the extremes are so crazy that we just go okay its not even worth discussing, even those that lean left here im sure roll their eyes at that list of genders and cant take it seriously, thats why i used it as an example because we can all agree on the craziness of it.

I think its okay to believe in whatever you want, but once you get to a stage where you force your beliefs on others then thats a bridge too far, that is happening in some spaces like social media platforms where misgendering or any criticism of some ideological beliefs can get you banned or is viewed as hate speech.

Shame on you Labor.
Shame on you Tanya Plibersek.

“Excruciating.
That’s the only word to describe the plight of local residents at Gelorup, south of Perth, as the bulldozers moved in on Monday to flatten their woodland to make way for the Bunbury Outer Ring Road.
The Gelorup corridor woodland is alive with rare and threatened species. While there are good options for the Bunbury bypass, which would equally shorten the car or truck trip from Perth to Busselton or Margaret River by fifteen minutes, there are none for the Gelorup patch of banksia, tuart trees and wildlife.
Last weekend, I flew to Bunbury to show our Foundation's support for this courageous group of community members who have been battling to save this beautiful patch of threatened, wildlife-filled woodland.

Here is a video of my speech at this weekend of community action (see below).
Besides the sight of bulldozers and escalators moving in to kill their beloved woods and waterway, the agony is so much worse because this destruction was authorised by Australia’s most powerful environmentalist, Tanya Plibersek.
At her National Press Club speech, in which she made public the latest State of the Environment Report (which the Morrison government had hidden away), the new minister spoke of her shock at reading how fragmentation of habitats and clearing of vegetation were prime causes for Australia having one of the worst extinction rates in the world. “Too much clearing of habitat has already occurred. Too many ecosystems and species are under threat,” she told the club.
“Australia is one of the world’s deforestation hotspots. Between the years 2000 and 2017, Australia cleared over 7.7 million hectares of threatened species habitat across the country. That’s an area bigger than Tasmania. Much of this clearing occurred in small increments. More than 90 per cent of it was never assessed under our environment laws. When we destroy these habitats - and when we don’t restore them elsewhere - endangered creatures lose their homes. And that has consequences.”
“… our environment is not getting the protection it needs. Which is why, in this term of government, I will be guided by three essential goals. To protect, to restore, and to manage Australia’s environment. We need to protect our environment and heritage for the future. We need to restore environments that have already been damaged.
And we need to actively manage our landscapes, oceans and waterways, and the critical places we’ve vowed to protect … that’s our agenda,” the new minister added, raising environmental hopes across the nation.
So how can it be that, with Plibersek’s signed approval, five weeks of agonising destruction of the Gelorup woodland has begun? Her approval came with conditions largely concocted by the Western Australian Labor government’s Main Roads proponents of the bypass. These include blandishments such as trees with nests of the critically-endangered possums must be gently bulldozed over in daylight hours so that the bewildered creatures can run down the trunks and be ‘shepherded’ into trees adjacent to the proposed highway. Anyone with bush knowledge knows that possums are territorial and this plan will lead to deaths. The adjacent habitat will not be vacant unless it is already in an unsurvivable, hostile condition (eg, with predators like dogs or human trappers).
The ‘shepherds’ will attach collars to the possums to allow for monitoring. But a study has found that even light collars greatly reduce the marsupials’ chance of survival. The exiled possums will be studied to death.
The Gelorup woods are also important habitat for three of Western Australia’s struggling species of Great Black Cockatoos, rare orchids and the world’s two largest mistletoes. One of the largest (8 metres round) tuart trees left after the extensive historic destruction of WA’s southwest forests will, at best, be left stranded beside the four-lane motorway. The internationally-listed rare Black-striped Minnow fish will have its important Gelorup habitat bisected by the highway.
Minister Plibersek received a rousing ovation when she told an international conference on the environment that “under the new Australian government, the environment is back – front and centre.”
So whatever possessed her to give this desecration of National Heritage the nod just a month into her ministry? And what can excuse for her stonewalling the Friends of the Gelorup Corridor who have been campaigning for two decades to have the highway rerouted across nearby cleared land. She has not responded to these good people. Not a call or letter, let alone a visit to see what could be done.
Imagine Anthony Albanese’s new Treasurer, Minister for Trade, or Minister for Resources, ignoring pleas from a corporate entity that sought their urgent attention.
Tanya Plibersek has also stonewalled us as we campaign to save the takayna / Tarkine rainforest from Chinese mining giant MMG’s proposed waste dump. The courts have given her time to reconsider her predecessor’s mistake. On the day the machines were moving in on the Gelorup forest, MMG’s machines were moving out of the Tarkine forest, under direction from Federal Court Judge Mark Moshinsky who found that Sussan Ley had got it wrong when she gave those bulldozers the green flag. Ley had failed to adequately, with active intelligence, take into account the precautionary principle which says that if you don’t know enough about the status of a threatened species (in this case the Tasmanian Masked Owl) that lack of knowledge should not go against the species.
The very same day that I was with the Gelorup residents in WA, our Foundation's staff and volunteers were overseeing the expulsion of mining giant MMG from takayna's rainforest, following our successful Federal Court case against MMG's toxic waste dump.

Tanya Plibersek is tasked with reviewing Sussan Ley’s Tarkine decision in light of new and compelling information that giant Masked Owls are resident and breeding in the targeted rainforest. As at Gelorup, there are options for MMG outside the Tarkine.
After Gelorup, many of the Tasmanian campaigners’ hopes have turned to foreboding. Is Minister Plibersek there to protect the environment or the Labor Party which has traditionally backed mining, logging and roading over environmental imperatives?
Even at this eleventh hour, so early in such a promising ministry, Tanya Plibersek has the opportunity to get back on track. There is new information about the failure of WA Main Roads to prevent death and injury to Western Ringtail Possums in its recent other road works. Her approval at Gelorup was on the condition that none of these critically endangered possums will suffer injury or mortality: that requirement cannot and will not be met. She should urgently review her decision and save their ancient Gelorup woodland habitat. Minister Plibersek should also require MMG to treat its acid wastes outside the Tarkine. In both cases, she can avoid the destruction of magnificent Australian places and wildlife because there are prudent and feasible project alternatives.
As Tanya Plibersek told the Press Club: “If we continue on the trajectory we are on, the precious places, landscapes, animals and plants that we think of when we think of home, may not be here for our kids and grandkids.”
Minister Plibersek is uniquely placed to change that trajectory. Gelorup and takayna would be the perfect places to start.
For Earth,”

But really she owes Murdoch no other media would dare to print articles with her views on indigenous issues and the exposure has helped her get her views out there that in part has got her where she is, the ABC (who she sued) or Guardian or Crikey sure dont give her a voice.

Anyway good to see her getting attention even in left wing circles the more people who learn who she is and her views the better and i noticed her social media following has sky rocketed in the last week or two.

That kind of cost comparison just goes straight over the head of most people. But when you consider the whole City Link project in Melbourne around 1996-2000 cost about $2.2 billion and included all that infrastructure, then a $1.25 billion tag for a bypass should surely be scrutinized by someone with half a brain.
It seems these large scale government funded infrastructure contracts have a common thread in that their cost consultants are fairly useless in:
a) Preparing realistic budgets up front, and
b) Controlling cost blow outs during construction

The grannies have seen massive change some are highly educated in their fields I admire that they often rally together and get things started through their expertise and action massive part of the community representation in getting things done or brought to light no doubt governments wish they would die out but they are resilient honest and passionate about their causes often with lived experiences and knowledge environmental or other issues

they add allot to communities through effort and often by volunteering long hours
No wonder government let aged care slip they don't see value where there isn't a buck or a cause to be served in some situations

screwing the communities and issues over that the grannies so often represent I look at it as passion for where someone lives and putting a human face and voice to value of the issues that can't raise awareness on their own accord

I sound like a green nutter but it's the knowledge of what often remains hidden from public domain that must sometimes be publicly addressed in a communities best interests are to be preserved Tanya didn't give a damn she stayed silent from a position of leadership she's getting called out by concerned Australian tax payers who are effected or concerned

why won't she front up because it's easier to turn the cheek from a position of power

she's effectively dismissing concerns of community we see this often in politics when it gets brought to light on many issues Australia wide

environments are a concerning topic as are many others at the moment

would the minister please front up or reveal the reason they wish to remain silent or is that to much to ask for from concerned Australian citizens on a number of issues utter bullshit from the top down

Robwilliams, Rabbit68. Bob always make sense and it sounds like Mother Rabbits68 does also. Age is no barrier to caring about the things I/we/you respect. How can people not see the beauty in Australia’s flora and fauna, unique to the world and the envy of some countries. Here we go again and again and again, more unnecessary land clearing for what, a few minutes of quicker travel, makes me sick, this obsession with getting to places quicker and quicker year after year, if you break it down, we humans are the sick puppies here. What’s next ?. A Bibbulmum Track super highway to the SW of W.A just to funnel the masses to the Margaret River region and once again destroy the very place just a few flocked to decades ago. Plenty of templates in existence NOT to follow, Byron Bay, Noosa Heads etc.

it's interesting watching advocates - and especially labor - being quite dismissive of people who are unsure about the referendum, and wanting to know the detail of how 'the voice' will take shape...

with rather belittling calls of... it doesn't really matter... or there's ten years / decades of background process... and, there's 500 pages of report full of detail... 'look it up' ... etc etc...

when one thing clear from the q and a panel was... seemingly, hardly anyone knows how it will take shape... including the non j. price crew on the panel...

and, a show of hands of the q and a audience - who were largely indigenous and on board types... showed a very small number of hands go up when asked if they understood what it all was about...

the ad dude from gruen transfer - a self proclaimed propaganda-ist - and jaquie lambie, both have said they support 'the voice' ... as they both conveyed concerns labor is going to fuck this up ... by being dismissive of people's concerns, and seemingly, being cagey on the detail...

sure looking that way atm...

Either way she will gain more popularity and exposure for one simple reason the problems she highlights aren't going anywhere plus either way the whole Uluru statement/Voice to Parliament stuff is going to just cause more division no matter the outcome.

If it gets passed you have just further divided and officially divided Indigenous people and non indigenous and anyone who thinks its going to bring practical changes has rocks in their heads..

And if it doesn't get passed you will have the whole white woke brigade still pushing for it and blaming lack of progress on issues because its didn't pass.

Either way she stays relevant and will only become more relevant if anything, she is only 41 and she seems pretty tough skinned, so hopefully she actually goes much further in politics.

It really makes you wonder how some people will give equal credence to the lone 1-3 voices in any debate to the vast majority. Especially so when these lone voices come to the debate without peer review or support or the backing of their own community or history of community leadership.

Its a lot like manmade climate change where the one scientist in the room denying its existence is given equal billing with the 99.99% of scientists who believe its real,

So there were 12 deliberative dialogues leading up to the creation of the Uluru Statement.
Joining each dialogue were a representative sample of approximately 100 Indigenous people drawn from local traditional owners, Indigenous community-based organisations and Indigenous leaders.
These regional dialogues selected their own representatives to attend the First Nations Constitutional Convention at Uluru.
At the Convention, and by an overwhelming consensus, more than 250 delegates adopted the Uluru Statement.

And where was Jacinta Price?
Somewhere in the far off distance, most likely spruiking for the IPA, Rupert Murdoch and more mining on Indigenous land.

100% yes One nation, one government, one set of laws for all etc

So you honestly believe people should be treated differently based on ethnicity????

How far do you believe in this outdated view?

Different voices in government based on ethnicity?...Different laws based on ethnicity?...Different school system based on ethnicity ?...where's your line?

BTW. Obviously one nation, one government, one set of laws for all, doesn't at all mean that the nation is not diverse in ethnicity's, culture and dont share common goals or that we dont value our differences and even if you were some crazy nutcase that was against this idea, the reality is Australia is one of the most multicultural diverse nations on earth and always will be.

Actually not one voice, there is a number of indigenous people in the public eye that hold her views or similar for example Anthony Dillion, Warren Mundine, Josephine Cashman, and I'm sure many who aren't in the public eye.

Anyway, once the majority of people thought the world was flat, it took one person to discover its not and I'm sure a long time to convince others it was in fact round.

Corrupt grifters ..
In a side note, watched a bit of question time last week, dam the LNP are hopeless without the speaker protecting them, sooking clowns. Highlight was Angus Taylor carrying on with some crap and Albo replied along the lines that don't worry there will be other bodies to look into those activities in reference to upcoming ICAC.... Reckon Angus is going to be a busy fella....

I do apologise I actually meant to quote all the tripe you said that we can all see above, but had some technical issues.

Anyway its irrelevant what you think she has been elected to the senate by the people so her voice will be heard.
