Here's a good summary:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-12-02/christian-porter-greg-hunt-quit-b...

I don't see it as a sinking ship, more of a strategic move to populate the ranks with some fresh faces going into the election. It's a smart move if done correctly, new faces might come without excessive baggage from the past that opposition can easily pick on.

yep, so much so...

whichever side stood up to this rubbish would be a guaranteed winner at next elecion...

the fact neither side is willing to do it...

when the monetry value is irrelevant really...

just shows it's about much more than brown bags of cash...

ol' uncle elmer albo just appeared quite genuine and confident on tv...

and he wasn't just calling peter dutton a boofhead...

releasing their climate change policy, they actually appeared confident and to believe in what they were saying, which is a nice change...

Im suss on the 100 000s of 'positive jobs'...

Im suss on how many times they mentioned 'modelling'...

and Im disapointed they didn't mention a single tree... because all bullshit and marketing aside... they're kinda important... and scottys got that one over him...

but labor appear back in the race, after the recent backflips, ad. speak and convolusions from scotty and co.

cue the greens to fuck everything up with a hissy fit about 43%...

a fairly abitrary number... of many arbitrary numbers... that Im actually quite impressed how labor arrived at it...

time to tear the modelling apart

So what had been really happening while the freedumb marchers have been joining up with the neo-Nazis to demand the right to make bad decisions about their personal health and ignore sensible public health measures?
Well let's have a look. Parliamentary sitting days reduced to 10 days until next August. Accountability? Zero. More oppressive security legislation. Plenty of that. Secret trials? One down (witness J), one to go (witness K).
But hey, why worry about governance, democracy or actual human rights when we can be seduced by carefully planted bullshit into faux outrage about vaccination?
Ever get the feeling you've been fooled? Ha ha ha

Setka was kicked out of the ALP. Andrews had no ability to remove him from the CFMEU because the members elect the leadership. He's not exactly the poster boy for vaccines.

Genuine question: How many neo Nazis do you think there are in Australia? Try to put a number to how many literal neo Nazis you personally believe exist in Australia . Take a guess. Your definition of neo Nazi would be appreciated also.

A more accurate definition of populism:

Grzymala-Busse: Populism is an ideology that consists of two main claims: first, that the political and economic elites act in their own corrupt self-interest, and neither care about or respond to popular concerns. The second claim is that as a result, the “people” need to be represented by the populist party or movement, so that their interests can finally be served.“

How many neo-Nazis? Enough to scatter "Qui" banners around at the Melbourne demos in the hope that people would pick them up not knowing what they represent. Enough to organise militia training events.
Populism is the easiest political movement to subvert to the neolib agenda. Trump being a recent case study. Remind me, what did he achieve for poorer Americans?

What we are essentially seeing in Melbourne is a Trump style mob. A pack of thick-as-pig-shit angry people who are addicted to the circus. For Trump it was rallies, for the anti-everything idiots, it's protests.
They define themselves by who they hate. they don't have any solutions to problems, and they are being utterly played by people like Clive Palmer.
These people aren't going to get what they want, so where exactly does it all end? In the USA, the Jan 6 insurrection was a national embarrassment, and the GOP has been entirely taken over by extremists. Their end hasn't happened yet.
I can't see something like that happening in Australia because of the preferential voting system. Scumo doesn't have to dance with the mob that much. They just need to hate him less than Dan Andrews / ABC / Labor etc. There's a reason why the mob caused a scene outside the ABC and not News Corp.
They are useful idiots for Scumo and Palmer.

So the string pullers have changed their tune, and the rabble mob are focussing on 2 topics that have no end. Hatred of the ABC and "repealing the bill".
Achieving things isn't the point to the mob. Their reason for existence is to create an ongoing sense of chaos and a hatred of Dan Andrews, Labor, the ABC, the Greens etc.
And the main beneficiaries of course will be the LNP and the fat bastard miner.
How stupid would you have to be to not see that you are being played by Palmer and a collection of grifters and chancers? I mean, you'd have to have absolute shit for brains. Oh and goodnight blowin, shortenism, et al.

I was thinking the same when i read the description, but off course VL is full of shit as per normal, there is a huge difference between these protest in Australia and riots in USA with Antifa chasing imaginary fascist.

These protest are true protest and have been very peaceful the crowd extremely diverse in age and demographic and are a result of one of the biggest if not the biggest event we have seen in Australia in our life's, Covid and months of lockdowns where people were restricted from travel, work, seeing family and friends, doing activities they love people literally having basic freedoms taken away for months on end and freedoms still restricted from those who choose not to be vaccinated.

I mean seriously if you going to whinge about something it's a fair thing to whinge about lots of people even lost their jobs and business.

What...wait...am I reading things correctly here..?

LNP: create a tiered US style, private, user-pays vocational and tertiary system tailored to giving a quality education to only the wealthy elite who can afford it, thus reinforcing structural inequality in society and creating an underbelly of uninformed and uneducated masses like the US, and then import immigrants to fill the resulting skills shortages in Australian society, completely shafting everyday Australian people...

ALP: actually restore education funding and increase free TAFE and university places for all Australian people, particularly targeted towards the sectors of our economy experiencing skills shortages, thus giving the opportunity to Australian people to fill those shortages and helping them get the job and career they want...: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-12-04/labor-gets-election-ready-with-a-...

I'd nearly go so far as to say that there is something very wrong with Australian society if the ALP doesn't get a go this time.

On thing I'd personally like to also hear from the ALP is that they also actually want Australia to be friends with Europe and China. We don't have to get in bed with them but our prime minister needs to be able to say call up the French president and say something like g'day mate I'm hitting the French beaches this summer, you want to catch up for some drinks sometime...?

Id actually say there is something very wrong with Australian society if LNP don't hold onto power as you really couldn't have asked for a better run during Covid.

1. One of the lowest Covid death rates in the world. (despite Vic major fuck up)
2. Economically we faired among the best in the world.
3. Now looking at one of the highest Covid vaccination rates in the world

If after all that they don't keep government then there isn't too much more they could do to hold power.

But i do think there is a good chance of change of government for two reason's only

1. it's going to be close to nine years of a LNP government and the longer things go the better the grass on the other side looks, thats just human nature and the media doesnt help things.

2. They are basically becoming liberal lite anyway.

If Labor get in though im betting it will be for one term only max two terms.

ID.
The Morrison govt is an absolute joke. Their economic protection package was farcical. What sort of govt hands over billions of dollars to companies who have made record profits during covid without a clawback mechanism? Idiotic in the extreme, and a decision the taxpayers will be paying for for a generation.
They are as corrupt as fuck, and if re-elected, they will only get worse. There's no federal ICAC, because half the ministers would end up in jail. And that's not hyperbole. Scumo's government just handed $80,000 to one of Scumo's mates for a bullshit report on privately funded quarantine, because they have no intention of doing their job (quarantine) themselves. 2 fucking years to do something and they've built zero facilities.
Scumo's mob have been handing out $80,000 grants left, right, and centre to their mates? Why $80000? Well after that amount, contracts need to go to official tenders. What a fucking joke. They've normalised corruption and rorts. That will be a generation legacy.
I could go on all day about this shitty govt that covers up rapes, treats women like shit, attacks freedom of speech, and has no legislative agenda, but will just leave saying this: These fuckers are in it for themselves. They didn't expect to win in '19 and it shows big time. Most of them were planning profitable post career opportunities, and it shows. Does anyone think they would suddenly get competent and less corrupt if they got re-elected?

@VL

We already know how useless Labor has been in Victoria during Covid with the highest infection and death rate in Australia and even clocking up the worlds longest lockdown (no easy feat), let's not even talk about the jobs and business destroyed.

Now imagine that on a national scale.

And you want to talk about reckless spending, as we know Australia is approaching one of the highest vaccination rates in the world.

But remember Albo wanting to pay people $300 each to get the Covid vaccine?

Imagine how pointless that money would have been

There is about 20 millions people in Australia over 18

Now 20 million X $300 = $6,000,000,000 (six billion)

We dont know how many would have got vaccinated but 4 to 5 billion wasted would have been realistic .

And that figure could have been bigger if they paid people under 18.

There was plenty of AZ the vaccine that on paper always made the most sense to use being able to be manufacture in Australia and not being mRNA based so in theory being the vaccine most likely to have lowest vaccine hesitancy.

Not to mention to reduce vaccine hesitancy we were never going to rush things through, this was said early in the piece.

Obviously nobody could have predicated the blood clot issues, and obviously after that demand became higher for vaccines like Pfizer meaning supplies went to countries over run wth Covid not tp countries with no or very little Covid.

Hence why New Zealand also didnt get Pfizer until we did and were in exactly the same boat.

You know that, but it doesnt fit your narrative.

"even clocking up the worlds longest lockdown".
The blame for last three Victorian lockdowns doesn't lie with Dan Andrews. They never would have happened if Scumo didn't fuck up the Vaccine rollout. They never would have happened if Gladys didn't stuff up quarantine. They never would have happened if Gladys took the expert's advice and implemented a proper lockdown. And the other wave came from LNP controlled SA.
Vic's big lockdown in 2020 protected all the other states you stupid ass. We took an economic bullet for the country. In 2021, Gladys was so fucking arrogant that she believed in her "gold standard" BS, spread the virus all over the country and forced other states to lock down too.
There's a reason why the LNP are despised in Victoria. That last big lockdown is entirely their fault.

Ha ha put the crack pipe down.

I have to admit though i initially thought Gladys really fucked up with Delta, but it became obvious pretty quickly when Victoria locked down hard and cases still rose and got out of control, that it was irrelevant, delta was a different beast and was always going to get out and was almost impossible to control.

And now with hindsight thank fuck it got out and fast tracked things, otherwise the vaccine rollout would have dragged on like WA, NT & QLD and we would still be playing this stupid keep Covid out game.

Hopefully it looks like this new variant is here too so we dont go back to that game.

Wow ID,
So you're having a crack at Dan Andrews for his lockdowns, but excusing Gladys for her lockdown because it was Delta.
Same strain, two completely different standards depending on whether your beloved LNP is in charge, or whether Dan Andrews is the boss.
And apparently Gladys allowing it to spread across the country is a good thing according to you. I'm tipping you wouldn't be saying "well done Dan" if that strain started in Vic, and he ignored the medical advice, and let it spread across the country.
ID. Maybe you should put down the crack pipe.

When the Gladys outbreak started to kick in, vaccines were also diverted from Vic to NSW. At first it was consensual and then Scumo did it in secret.
Let's not forget this was a time when it was painfully obvious NSW was not locking down effectively.
When it was exposed that extra vaccines were being shipped to Sydney (at the expense of other states) Andrews said "we aren't giving up our vaccines so Sydneysiders can have picnics". Well the inevitable happened. The Gladys outbreak spread to Vic after we'd given them more than their fair share of vaccines.
And some people wonder why the LNP is trailing Labor by 20 points in Victoria. We paid a very high price for the arrogance and shitfuckery of Scumo and Gladys.

And if a jurisdiction is getting vaccines from another state, there's a bloody obligation to do a proper lockdown so it doesn't spread. That's just common sense and common decency.

& extra, the sad thing about Dan's passing his legislation is now the CHO doesn't make the call, it's the Premier - so future pandemics are political in response and that just makes for a shitstorm as we are currently undergoing.

Australia's response was initially very good as the nation's CHO was in charge of pandemic response and could do it from a medical, not political, standpoint. All that has been pissed away now.
