Interesting stuff
....because a lot of it is actually not legal. It could well be the biggest expose since they dredged the harbour.
BB - It has been going on for hundreds of years . Anything illegal should have been prosected already .
Most billionaire's are not that dumb . That's why they pay big money to super smart tax specialists to use these legal schemes to avoid tax . Not one case they mentioned would be illegal . I wish they were .
Of course there would be some illegal stuff going on but a huge percentage would relate to how the money was made , not how it is structured .
I bet you will be completely wrong ( again ) and we will not read or hear anything more about this in a few weeks ( probably days ) . The dredging of the harbour may find one one two fish but they will be very small .
The journalists don't get paid anywhere near the money the tax specialists do . We all know you usually get what you pay for .
Have a look for yourself.
BB - I have seen all the news about this and I stand by EVERY word.
What is illegal in todays news ? This story will die quicker than your fish out of the harbors water .
Craig - I hope this is of interest .

Ah yes saw that, but looks like any ECL on the East Coast in my opinion.
PS will get back to your Niña questions tomorrow.

This also applies to all the respiratory muscles (intercostal, diaphragm etc).
A lot of intubated respiratory patients (emphysema, PF, etc.)are often difficult to wean (get off the ventilator).
In ICU, we take over their entire breathing pattern, including tidal volumes, minute ventilation, respiratory rate (the patient is usually heavily sedated and/or paralysed) to manage their illness. In particular, we are trying to manage deranged pH secondary to respiratory compromise, ie. hypoxic or hypercapnic respiratory failure or both- won't bore everyone with the mechanism, but needless to say the human body has truly amazing compensatory mechanisms).
Like all muscles - Don't use it , lose it.
The big questions, which we ask of every patient who is about to be intubated...
Is this a reversible cause?
Will intubation change the trajectory of the illness?
Will it possible to respiratory wean the patient? (that is, reduce the patients respiratory support).
Thus, once extubated, will they have the capacity to breath up for themselves?
However, with the right weaning strategy + appropriate respiratory PT (utilising muscle memory), hopefully we can return this cohort of patients to pre-intubation breathing levels.
China is threatening Taiwan now trying to provoke a reaction . Hitler did the same in Poland .
I can't believe they want a war now with all the shit that is going on but sometimes that's the best time to start one .
Here are some truly amazing photos of various marine creatures . Ocean Photographer of the Year 2021 winners – in pictures https://www.theguardian.com/environment/gallery/2021/sep/20/ocean-photog...
supafreak you have to love that southern calamari. Looks like a 70s album cover.
@blindboy , hard to pick a winner, I liked the seahorse clasping onto the mask , bit of a tragedy the masks polluting oceans everywhere.
"China appears to have folded and unloaded Australian coal shipments despite an unofficial import ban, according to FT, citing multiple commodity analysts. The move emphasizes China's dire need for coal supplies amid a power crunch with more than half of the country's provinces rationing power. "
China will always act in their best interests and always do whatever it takes to get what they want .

Good piece on Taiwan.

This is significant. The first fixed wing plane to land on a flat-top flying the rising sun in over 75 years.
(The story of Izumo and Kaga is pretty trollish too - designated DDH ("helicopter destroyer") they arrived with 800ft of flat deck - an aircraft carrier in all but name. There were protestations. Recent heatproofing of the deck allows the F35B to land, giving the ship far greater air power projection.)
This is crazy, check the rod and chain stuff near the end! Ha.
Impressive.
Now we know who to call when we're invaded by a battalion of rampaging roof tiles.
Hand to hand combat is so passe.
Not to mention quite clearly flaunting social distancing protocols.
Reminds me of the scene In Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, when Indy is looking for the lost heroine and comes across the black-clad bad guy swinging the fancy sword. While the bad guy is strutting, Indy indifferently lifts a gun from his holster and shoots him dead.
This time it's North Korean guys with quick fists versus a drone loaded with loitering munitions.
Ha! I thought the exact same thing.
Chuck in a hand gun and it's all over.
@Zen
Can you give your 2 cents worth in that other thread (Aboriginal injustice one) on the word Jap or Japs, your opinion would be the most valid on this topic, so interesting to hear. Cheers.
I did because he asked nicely.

Not at all, go read my own comments and personally experience on the word, im not comfortable using it.
I asked Zen because he lives in Japan and married to a Japanese lady and he is a straight shooter, if anyones opinion on the topic holds weight its Zen's, so honestly wanted to get his take.

Sorry for the late notice but there is a show on the ABC at 9.30 pm today about Bronwyn Oliver . One of Australians best ever artists . Sculptures .
Hutchy,
Thanks for the heads up, I will watch later. FYI if you're interested, the NGV has a couple of good Henry Moore sculptures and an original preliminary casting of Rodins' 'the Thinker'.
Big fish for you fisho's. Catch and release.
udo you have to ask if it was just the usual mind boggling incompetence of the COALition or a deliberate ploy to keep their fossilised friends in business a bit longer.
You are so Blinded BB .
The question you are asking us to consider is do we stop building solar and wind mills ?
Should we stop all the incentives to build them ? Wasn't it Ruddy that paid for homes to have solar panels and pink batts to be installed ?
"With all this capacity coming online, we are suddenly running into grid congestion issues," Rystad Energy senior analyst David Dixon said.
It has been happening for a long time . Unless you think the previous 5 governments were incompetent for promoting wind and solar it was always going to happen as you know .
If the sun is shining and the wind is blowing we have excess energy and it has nowhere to go .
13 years is clearly enough time to plan and begin work on an expansion of the grid. COALition incompetence or something more sinister are the only viable explanations.
Political cartoons of the year. Some rippers. Personal fave is the “grand old party of Lincoln “.

Apparently ducklings surf behind their mum to save energy.
Simulations reveal that ducklings swimming in a single-file formation behind the parent can achieve a wave-riding benefit whereby the wave drag turns positive. Ive never heard Medan described in that way, i dont go in there now that the airport is out of town, no offence i always thought of it very differently, i much prefer Padang as gets the sea breeze and you can still look out to sea.
