Anyone here riding Bonzer's? Came across the Octafish design today which looks pretty sweet and then down the rabbit hole of looking at various other models and options.

Thinking they would fly on pointbreaks but may struggle on beachies?

I've got a 6'4" bonzer five. I rate it highly!

prefers better surf but i found the extra fin hold useful in hollow beach breaks. Have also surfed it at some of the mid coast points and it was hoot.

6'2 x 19 1/2 homemade Bonzer 5.
6'6 x 19 3/4 Russ Short from Malcolm.

Nail a turn on a Bonzer and you'll hear angels singing.

Both, of course! (But I meant angels).

Angles or angels?

Six of one, half a dozen of the other, according to your friendly local mathematician...

Really nail the turn and you can hear the angles acutely.

I have a self shaped 6-7 5 fin bonzer and had a 6-4 that I eventually snapped
Amazing in the barrel
Hang in nicely on critical take offs
Fast without pumping - so much that I had neighbours comment on waves I caught and made on the 6-7 (anyone noticing waves I ride is unheard of)
Finally imho they have a nice stringer centric feel and very easy to get on rail via the single fin and Vee Double concave
Yeah I am a fan

Have a bonzer rant, Les used to. The nugget v bonzer drive and cliff top rants were epic. Fuck he hated nuggets!

Udo, you'll be pleased to know I ended up nabbing that Bonzer, which makes it the second board I've bought that you've flagged on these forums! The board's in mint condition and the contours at the back are super tidy - who knows what they do but they sure look cool as fuck.

Needed to test drive ASAP, so i went out in slow 1-2ft with a light onshore and even in those conditions I got a taste of what she's capable of. I've been riding an old school twin fin recently and this was the polar opposite of that. Heaps of hold - will stick the bottom turn no matter how shaky, and once you're out of that, pick your line and cruise. Really keen to take it out in some good surf, and will be packing it next time I'm heading to the points up north.

No I don't, but I'd love too.

that fin really felt amazing. it was a loaner and I had to give it back.

I emailed Roy asking him where I could buy one but he said he wasn't making them.

any bonzer experts out there able to help my indecision / ignorance?

currently drooling over this.
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bondi-beach/surfing/campbell-brothers-bo...
vs
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mullaway/surfing/new-east-bonzer/1273933229 shaped by blake metz in byron.
never had a bonzer before. go to board atm is the 5'8 26-27 litres, Bonzer site recommends replicating standard size for your 1st bonzer. but I dont have that luxury on the 2nd hand market.

Metz shape has about 36 litres of foam in it - wow. cheaper but riskier unknown model.

doubt the CI will up much longer now I posted this. such is life.
thanks heaps in advance
