Tanya Plibersek :

Never been employed outside of the sheltered workshop of party politics in her life.

Never lived more than 30kms from the Sydney GPO.

Worth $9Milllion.

Supposed to understand and represent the working class of broader Australia.

"How good is Lambie"??????? You're joking right? Dodges serious overseas service by pulling the old "yeah mate my back is fucked" routine, but can miraculously sit for 18 hours straight on a senators bench. Uses Clive Palmer to get into parliament, then stabs him in his rather huge sagging back, Wants to put all aboriginals on the Indue lnp ration card, voted with teh gov to keep sick refugees on manus, now holds polls on her fb page to guage the puplics sentiment on controversial issues instead of using her own mind. Not long ago, she asked her followers to vote on whether asylum seekers should be allowed to keep their mobile phones when in detention ( the coalition tried to pass a bill to take away the phones). She didn't want to state she was for taking away the phones. She wanted "back up", "reassurance". Didn't she get the shock of her life when a massive 90% voted for refugees to KEEP THEIR PHONES. She meekly had to go with what she had created, and voted with Labor. FUNNY AF..... They still have their phones :p

I’m not going to attack Plibersek’s husband for his drug history beyond stating that heroin has been an avoidable pitfall for all but the reckless, the stupid and stupidly reckless since the seventies. I believe Drug criminalisation is maybe the biggest blight on modern society for the past 50 years.

The fact that he’s still got a career after his “ misstep “ unfortunately says more about the flexibility of the law available to those with means and ends than it does to the enlightenment of our country in regard to the policing of recreational drugs.

But I will say that highlighting a staged confrontation between Tanya Plibersek and Craig Kelly as a contrast of political potency is about as realistically demonstrative as claiming that the aggressive pisshead at the local bowlo is a world class pugilist cause he knocked down a lippy geriatric who’d been at the bar since opening.

Ahhhhh backgrounding Plibersek’s husband, just like the coalition has been backgrounding Brittany Higgins partner. Charming. Personally I'd like to see more REAL PEOPLE in politics - those with partners that HAVE had struggles, instead of these plastic fake evangelical happy clappers that have no clue about the real world. It seems blowin and sypo wanna damn Tanya for being successful on one hand, but having an "unsuccessful" husband on the other. She cant win either way right? Bizarre tall poppy syndrome at its finest.

Blowin writes "Tanya Plibersek :Never been employed outside of the sheltered workshop of party politics in her life."
Writing stuff doesn't make it true Blowback.
Re Tanya Plibersek - "She has degrees from the University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University, and before entering parliament worked in the NSW Government’s Domestic Violence Unit."
I personally wouldn't call the (non partisan gov dept) domestic violence uint "the sheltered workshop of party politics". But hey.

Memo, linking that screenshot to that article doesn't necessarily support what appears to be your usual cause.

“Since September 2014, there have been nine terrorist attacks in Australia. All were inspired by Islamic extremists. It is anticipated that any future attacks would involve weapons and tactics that are low-cost and relatively simple, including basic weapons,” the AFP said.

“The threats posed by Islamic extremists is enduring and diversifying and shows no sign of abating.”

Sheepdog I'm still thinking about this one about Jackie Lambie -

"now holds polls on her fb page to guage the puplics sentiment on controversial issues instead of using her own mind"

That sounds like the sort of real democracy that would be a total game changer.
Sounds better than how we're being fucking railroaded by the LNP/Labor duopoly at the moment.
No?

Sypo writes of Tanya "...$9 mil ...never had a real job!"
So Sypo thinks working in the NSW domestic violence unit isn't a "real job". Dealing with battered women and children doesn't count as "real work" for sypo.

And as far as her net worth being "9 mill", NAAAAAHHH..... It's between 4 and 5 mill, which is not outrageous for someone with a house in sydney, where the median is 1.2 mill acording to domain.

Apparently your golden girl Lambie was paid a gazillion on "I'm a celeb get me outa here". Net worth SIX MILLION huh????? Fighting for them battlers she is

And then i got to the end.

Syppo re: "real" democracy -

In Switzerland, to challenge a law, citizens must collect 50 000 signatures within 100 days of the official publication of a new law. If they manage to do it, a nationwide referendum is held. And if the majority of the voters reject the law, it is canceled.

How about that for people power.

And further -

The possibility for the citizens to challenge any law influences the whole political system.

It encourages parties to form coalition governments, to minimize the risk that an important party tries to block the action of the government by systematically launching referendums.

It gives legitimacy to political decisions.

It forces the authorities to listen to all sectors of the population, to minimize the risk that they reject new laws in referendums.

Before presenting a new bill to the parliament, the federal government usually makes a wide consultation to ensure that no significant group is frontally opposed to it, and willing to launch a referendum

Fuck me that sounds good.

Guess what fellas, we're living in a corrupt banana republic.

It's a shit-show.

Here's a classic example.

Brisbane City Council has spent $132 million purchasing a bus depot in Sherwood, after selling the land in 2009 for $21 million and leasing a purpose-built depot from its private owners (for $6.3 million per year) ever since.

This is standard, this IS how our system, aka neoliberalism, works.

people certainly don't realise, the public has been taken to the cleaners, by both sides...

the corruption and nepotism of scomo's governnent is out of this world, labor have difficulty calling them out because they were in on half of it

as I said, an opposition that can hold government to account is just as important as governing, and this sets up the opposition for power. Im not seeing any development there at all

it really is beyond belief the last decade or two in this 'lucky country'. even by lucky country standards, the incompetence, incoherence, and general lack of vision is just bloody shameful for all involved

including the media, especially the media...

even if jaquie lambie never does another single thing, this country is eternally indebted to her, just for her straight talking senate speech calling out liberal's and labor's patheticness and absolute blindness to developments regarding china

the silence of the chamber, and following, was deafening and damning
