Yeah done fuck all???? Just more BS from you VL

Australia is one of the most successful countries in the world with dealing with Covid the biggest event we have seen in our lifetime.

Most countries are not only being farked over from a health perspective by Covid but also an economical perspective.

It's early days yet and far from over, but this week signs are looking much better than expected, technically the recession has ended (doesn't mean we wont have another one)

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-02/australia-september-quarter-econo...

So we are doing very well from the two very important aspects health & economy.

Thats why Scomo's approve rating is so healthy at the moment.

BTW. Scomo is good at some aspects of marketing like his image of being a politicians but still relatable as a daggy everyday dad, but marketing is more than that it's about using the media and events to your advantage, which he is really not that good at, especially using the media. (you would think he would have a whole team advising him on these things)

You want an example of a very good marketing politician look at Jacinta arden, Covid aside she has failed on pretty much every election promise, but it doesn't matter even if covid hadn't hit these things would not be a focus because she is amazing at marketing herself and using media and events to her advantage.

not to detract from a pretty fair point... well kind of fair... kind of fairly tediously predictable, and full of braindead point scoring and nothingness actually... but anyway...

serious question, what has albo achieved in that time?

aside from ghosting the opposition position better than anyone, ...anyone ever, ...even better than shorty shorton everything..., what has albo done in 12 months?

or actually thinking about it... what have labor even done in that 12 months?

now I accept the lnp have been rather lacklustre amidst rather massive potential political opportunities... but what have labor actually done?

joel fitzgibbon stole morrison's climate change position I guess, ...and albo came out batting for china at one stage... but putting those two sojourns into the average and the ridiculous aside, I honestly cannot think of anything at all they have achieved in that time period

and I'm serious, I cannot think of one single time they have effectively held the lnp to account, or even raised a single issue of significance that has caught the public's attention, not one, not once... in 12 months...

the oz public is being taken for a ride by both sides of politics at an alarming rate that we have never seen before

the bang for buck is dismally in the negative and plummetung, it's disgusting

I know we're 'the lucky country' and all that... but we are in the middle of a pandemic, and some major economic reshufflung, the most significant shake up to lives in a lifetime, ...apparently...

"Should Scumo have done something in the last 12 months or should he perhaps have waited for the Royal Commissions findings and recommendations?"
No, Scumo should have done something years ago. He should've done something when firefighters warned him in May 2019 about a severe shortage of aerial fire fighters. He should have done something immediately after last summer's fires. But he did fuck all, and it's too late for this fire season.
Waiting for a Royal Commission's finding to do the fricken obvious is the lamest excuse ever.
Scumo's response to the bushfires was typical scumo. Just like Covid, he punted nearly all the responsibility and blame on to the states. And then he had the nerve to show up when the problem was solved, try and claim the credit, announce funding for the recovery, which the flog didn't deliver. The bloke is terrible in a crisis. He's is just a very shallow man. But hey, he puts up Christmas decorations in front of his private photographer and all the newspapers get a copy.

No I did read the section you recommended and I read the recommendations of the Royal Commission.
Australian, state and territory governments should develop an Australian-based and registered national aerial firefighting capability, to be tasked according to greatest national need. This capability should include:
(1) a modest, very large air tanker/large air tanker, and Type-1 helicopter capability, including supporting infrastructure, aircrew and aviation support personnel, and
(2) any other aerial firefighting capabilities (eg Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), line-scanning, transport, and logistics) that would benefit from a nationally coordinated approach.
Recommendation 8.2 Research and evaluation into aerial firefighting
Australian, state and territory governments should support ongoing research and evaluation into aerial firefighting. This research and evaluation should include:
(1) assessing the specific capability needs of states and territories, and
(2) exploring the most effective aerial firefighting strategies.
Chapter 8 National aerial firefighting capabilities and arrangements 223

Recommendation 8.3 Developing the aerial firefighting industry’s capability
Australian, state and territory governments should adopt procurement and contracting strategies that support and develop a broader Australian-based sovereign aerial firefighting industry.

fitzroy-21's picture
fitzroy-21's picture
fitzroy-21 Saturday, 5 Dec 2020 at 5:47pm

"Each state and territory manages its own aerial firefighting capabilities comprising
owned or leased aircraft. Additional aircraft are provided by the National Aerial
Firefighting Centre (NAFC), a business unit of the Australasian Fire and Emergency
Service Authorities Council (AFAC). NAFC procures and allocates a fleet of aircraft and support services, from within Australia and overseas, to supplement the capabilities of the states and territories."
"The Australian Government is committed to providing approximately $15 million per year during the period 2018 to 2021, with total funding amounting to $44.79 million over three years."
"For the 2019-2020 bushfire season the Australian Government provided NAFC with an additional $11 million in December 2019, and a further $20 million in January 2020, increasing its total contribution to approximately $46 million for 2019-2020."
There is pages of factual information from the Royal Commission. Read it.
So what has dear old Dan spent his money on over the years in your neck of the woods??

Vic Local's picture
Vic Local's picture
Vic Local Saturday, 5 Dec 2020 at 6:38pm

Fitz, Many highly experienced fire fighters were trying to tell scumo that there wasn't enough aerial fire fighting planes for the upcoming fire season.
That was in May 2019. They were saying that due to global warming, the fire seasons in the northern and Southern Hemispheres were overlapping for longer periods of time. They were saying there was no guarantee Australia would get planes if they were still fighting fires in America and Europe.
Scumo didn't want to hear the message about global warming, because that would require him actually do something, so he refused to meet with the firefighters.
It needed a national response and scumo went MIA.
And people are still living in caravans, because Scumo went MIA during the recovery too. He's a fair weather PM who is shithouse in a crisis.
Edit
"the Australian Government provided NAFC with an additional $11 million in December 2019, and a further $20 million in January 2020,"
At this stage half the eastern seaboard was on fire. That funding was so late it was pathetic. Australia was negotiation contracts while it was on fire. Talking about negotiating on your knees. And then getting the Aircraft into the country took even more time. Scumo was, and still is, just fucking useless. But he builds cubbies for the girls and cooks Jen a curry.

Vic, The "Elvis" and fixed wing water bombers are not shelf item products. You can't just write out a cheque and take delivery. There is also a wait list as counties throughout Europe and America are waiting also.
An owner of one of the vessels I run has a son who is a pilot of the "Elvis" and he travels the globe flying these things fighting fires. He is run off his feet. Struggles to book a holiday he is in such demand. I have had some very interesting conversations with him regarding his work, the contracts and politics just for those helicopters.
Again, you are simplifying it too much thinking Scumo had the power to just fix things if he acted. Do you actually know how many we have on order? Do you know when they were ordered? No, you don't. What have the states done to fulfil their obligations?
I agree with your last comment, people still living in caravans etc. But again, is that entirely Scumos fault? Does the insurance companies not hold some or all of that responsibility? Like in my home town, all the builders are currently booked out for 12-18 months. How do you know they aren't still living in their vans awaiting insurance pay outs or builder delays??
EDIT: An those fund were ADDITIONAL funds to those already dished out since 2018. Again, what have the states done with their funding and responsibilities?

Vic Local's picture
Vic Local's picture
Vic Local Saturday, 5 Dec 2020 at 7:31pm

Wow Fitz,
You start by linking the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements, which lists a shit load of recommendations for the Federal government , and then yell "what have the states done". Having it both ways I see.
Do you understand the point of the Royal Commission? State based responses to natural disasters that cross state borders failed. This was entirely predicatable, especially in the case of fires in a climate change world.
Most of the recommendations of the Royal Commission point to things the Federal Government should do now (and should have done years ago).
When it comes to the raw politics of fire fighting in Australia, the LNP don't want to admit climate change makes fire fighting much more difficult. They avoid the topic at all costs. If people's houses burn down due to LNP inaction, that's a price the LNP are happy for others to pay.

really?

the guy who likes to think he's the smartest guy in the room, ...and that's what you've got?

that's the depths of patheticness you're willing to plunge to?

seriously dude, ...to quote myself, ...again...

what the fuck is wrong with you?

and... you really need some new material

...a new schtick...

because, you now are appearing to be as broken as hilary's shattered bossom...

it's back to the therapists for you ol' boy

...before another emerging

with another profile...

again...

ok, let's try that again...

how about you back off on the hostilities and try and contribute something enlightening or positive occaasionally rather than constantly trying to tear everbody down?

or, you could just ignore other posters, put up your links you feel so passionately about and you might actually gain some influence...

or, we could all just continue the gloves off shit giving fest, and you can be a more and more twisted nasty woman as more and more posters tire of your mean girls schoolyard domination routine...

Im cool with all of then
