That would explain why the public bookings are blocked out for 20 March. I'm booked for 19 March and was considering some follow-up sessions the next day but not to be.
Yeah Belly bit of lucky dip as we booked in for Friday night on the 13 March and got bumped to the Saturday morning 14th as they must of overbooked. However as they stuffed us around we have 2 hours with the pool to ourselves which means only 12 out and get to tell them which waves we want.

For those that have surfed the pond.
Is there any favored time during the day you would book in? What time of day would have the best chance of having best conditions, lowest crowds etc.
It's fairly heavily booked at the moment so I'm not sure if time of day will make any difference.
As for the best conditions, if you're there in the morning the wind should generally be lighter.
I've surfed it twice at 7pm and had a full session of 18 both times, caught 11 waves first go then 12, so no issue with it being too busy.
2nd time was a howling southerly so onshore for the pool and I surfed the intermediate wave, didn't think it impacted it much at all, but I watch the advanced session before it and thought the wave looked shithouse when it got to the barrel stage half way through, it was a really short crumbling wave that was over about 5 seconds after take-off. Everyone was trying to get some cover but it just crumbled on top of them and chewed them up. Didn't look appealing.
Morning your best bet to get lighter winds.

TBB needs to investigate / report on more than strong rumour circulating inner northern suburbs hipster cafes that local repair shop had a constant 100 plus boards in line awaiting fixing. But i think yer right ...there is a new setting & it adds a new random dynamic.
Expert Sessions add 1hr tidal element of Filling & Draining of the pool while in use.
Rush Hour Wave Trains are more gamely & will chart a more wild course.
Experts will need to negotiate stronger rips & negotiate wave face boil overs.
Almost like entering a swirling dervish kingdom of the Beast.
Recall the reason they withdrew the beast was also the 'Wash Over' effect.
Urbnsurf (Private Beast) required billing whole pool due to Left Wave Shutdown.
All here now know, they need less water to let the beast roam in his own yard.
Note from today Urbnsurf will time the tides to run both "L/R" Beasts...(A First?)
This is a very tricky concept in a pool with square sides & random crowd element.

Any firsthand experience on how cold the tub is post reopening in the depths of winter?
Crew in hoods and boots or relatively short session if you just do an hour mean a 4/3 and nude head and feet is fine?
10 degrees or so Seabiscuit. Had a mate that went yesterday in a 4/3 and boots and said it was fine.
Surfed it for 2 hours in 4/3, boots and gloves. Was toasty. Anyone without gloves was saying they were feeling the pinch a bit. Head was fine, unless howling don't reckon hood is needed
Airport West now in Covid19 lockdown so assuming The Tub is now closed although their website isn’t saying so atm.

Yeah not in a lockdown suburb - close by though.
Seems there's a fair bit of availability though. As with most businesses, they would've been hit hard. The could chalk some of it up to winter, but the lack of domestic travel will start to pinch.
Pre-covid there'd pretty much always be someone from interstate in the water on a wave pool trip.
Now they're competing for Vicco surfers only against cheap petrol, warmer ocean water temps and the fact that disposal income will generally decrease for most people. Hope they get through!

This grey water is fed back thru Airport toilets & car wash etc...(Bio check ?)
Recall they can trace Covid thru Sewage... so yep! The risk is there!
Extra to that is that Urbnsurf is 1st cab/bus stop from the Airport (Handles/Rails)
Advise SurfPark visitors to mind the Airport Transit (Buttons & counters as well)

Had a bash this morning - it's bloooody cold, noticeably colder than ocean around Vic. The machine wasn't working for the first 30 minutes of the session either which was handy!

Nope - they couldn't get it fired up for some reason so we were all standing there in our wetties freezing.
It was a little bit strange, they said we could wait and if it came on within the first 30 minutes it would count as a whole session and if it came on after 30 minutes we could surf and also get a credit.....or alternatively you could not wait, leave and then get a credit.
It came on just after 30 minutes so got halfa for free and then a credit.
Was a bit confusing but not the worst result.

I was there this morning. First time since it re-opened. Water temp 9 degrees. I found it a real shock at first and hard to breathe. It gets better as you get used to it but it's bloody cold.
Numbers seem to be down. Good for the punters as you can snag 2 waves in a set on some.
Im 3/2 no booties through winter. Do wear a hood for those heinous times when you have a tough paddle out. No ice cream headache is a must. Im contemplating borrowing aome booties. Got 7-8 8-9 this sat :)
Usually im moving round which helps but the poo does have a bit of idle time. Interested to see how 12 in the lineup goes
Spoke to a bloke the other day, apparently only 3 out at the left on expert. One guy busted his fins out early and was out of action. Two left in the water for the rest of the session.

After some feedback on the pool. I am contemplating heading down to do a strike mission for a few days. Who has surfed it? Would you recommend doing back to back sessions or have an hour off in between? Is it easy to do an hour on the left then the right immediately after? How knackered are you after 3 sessions in a morning? What are the evening sessions like? Thanks.
