New Victoria restrictions

Just watched the press release from Dan Andrews and I really feel for how victorians are going to once again pay for others stupidity. Not sure how they are going to police the 1 hour exercise policy but a trip down the coast for a surf could be costly. I understand these new restrictions are mainly Melbourne suburbs and I’m very grateful for where I live NSW Qld border. When we were in shutdown there was no time limit for our exercise thank god as a 3 hour surf kept me sane after losing my job.

yep, that's what pisses me off too, the middle class welfare. I got mates cooking up, and talking up, the job keeper scheme, they're the same mates scamming (legitimately) middle class welfare too. passionate, righteous lefty's in their politics, and aggresive in their righteousness, much like viclocal

been some interesting convo's with me agreeing howard largely squandered a once in a lifetime booming economy. but the agreeance is long lost when one talks of winding back some of their much beloved howardesque middle class welfare

same with jobkeeper, the economy, or the burden imposed on following generations are never even a consideration...

it's an interesting range of contradictions from my perspective

Blowfly, are you blind? I spent the arvo schooling VL on his hypocrisy of not being able to bring himself to speak ill of the labor party for lying through their teeth to protect their own asses as they have done all week, using all the examples available for all during this waste of time inquiry, a waste of time purely as nobody was willing to say what happened.
The health and jobs minister Mikakos and Pakula have both been caught lying today on camera, meaning they have lied after swearing to tell the truth during the inquiry. Why else you reckon they all lawyered up individually??

Reckon that warrants a nod of at least “yeh that’s pretty fucked” even from the most rusted on labor supporters.

NSW 400 Quarantine breaches (vs) Vic zero.
Now Jenny goes missing under a Bus.
https://www.9news.com.au/national/victoria-health-minister-jenny-mikakos...

Was there ever a Vic ADF Hotel deployment?
Why couldn't they find the Airport Bus?
Who removed them from the Hotel & to Where?

Qldurrz will answer all & clean up cousin Vic's inquiry.

It's all pretty straightforward but it's also very mucky & full of shit.

Video killed the FOI
Quarantine Arrangements were set up by a Star Chamber Video (No Paper trail)

Health Minister has sweeping Powers over movement of people & goods thru Oz.
We all see this in each of our state where Health Ministers call the Shots...

States (EM)Emergency Management must plead resource poor to apply for waver.
Failing that they must cough up for ADF assistance...(Politics gets in the way!)
You'll read he said she said & news that reports opposite. Each State different.
Basically you can have ADF but Feds will politicise the Army for your downfall.

ABF / ADF are deployed to assist security at Airports Arrivals & Borders.
ADF transport the arrivals to Scomo's Hot Hotel Chain Rydges or stated.

They cannot order anybody only advise instructions as a bouncer could.

Why must every Scomo inquiry omit the beginning & Hot Spot to frame a lie?
Ruby Hillsong Overboard / No Virus at Lab / Hot Hotel ADF went door Knocking

Yeh mate that's the definition ......now all you need is evidence that anyone in the Victorian government was guilty of any of those offences. There is to my knowledge no evidence for your accusation of corruption. Mikakos and Andrews disagree about what happened but neither account directly contradicts the other. What you believe is irrelevant, it's the public record that counts. Unsupported allegations of corruption are the lowest form of politics. They undermine confidence in government and democracy. Put up or shut up.

This corruption refers to Fed Govt Defence Minister's Timeline obviously...
https://www.minister.defence.gov.au/minister/lreynolds/statements/adf-su...
* Linda claims ADF were ready to Go, yet they were days late to all Airports?
* This 2-3 day hold up cost a breakout of 37 breaches.
* PM informs States/departments/media (Often!) that ADF secure all quarantine.
* ADF Never even spotted one inbound Plane into Victoria..( Not very Secure?)
* ADF never secured O/S Vic Airport to Quarantine (Regardless of Whatever!)
* Were ADF deployed to transit home PM's still infected Day 15 Quarantine Cases
* Did ADF just watch as PM's Day 15 infected Zombies walk City streets?
* Linda claims Victoria said no to ADF but news reports Yes & ADF were deployed
* ADF Stood outside Vic Hotels for 2 days then fucked off...ask Linda why!
* Minister redeployed starstruck Hot Hotel ADF to Housos Leadership teams
* ADF Sydney were responsible for fucking guests & 400 Quarantine breaches.
* PM ignores reality & claims ADF did a great Job in Sydney like his (ABF Cruises)
* Feds supply 60 ADF tech heads to digitize Sydney CT then say Vic CT is Shit.
* Did ADF offer to secure 'Covid testing' for o/s Arrivals at Melbourne Airport?
* Were ADF deployed when ABF Covid-19 outbreak shutdown Melbourne Airport.
* Were ADF deployed to secure Site when Govt Shut Down Melbourne Arrivals.
* Were ADF troops deployed to mop up Fed's Vic Aged Care Pandemic...Hell Yes!
* Feds now cut ADF Qld Border Duties short despite Qld Police requests.
* Are Feds continuing ADF on all other borders (Without any Request)...Yes!
* Did Fed Govt politicize ADF on numerous occasions during Pandemic...Yes!

Were any of these Victorian ADF related major failings mentioned once in Inquiry?
Was Linda's fucktard pile of garbage sworn in as Gospel by toffs...my wordy Yes!
Did Media forget they've already printed the complete opposite to inquiry findings!

tbb defines this process as Corruption...not what hapless Vic ALP did or didn't do...
Defence Minister + Inquiry heads + Media should be sacked for being corrupt...durr!
Good Luck Vic & Jenny ...you good folk deserve better than retarded ADF assault.

How desperate can you be to defend the indefensible tbb? Your unreadable gibberish has reached a new level. The entire State of Victoria understands that the Labor Govt is corrupt, an undeniable fact which was exposed at the inquiry (read the transcript). Now we can add utter mindless stupidity to Sgt Schultz's resume. Case in point - restrictions were minimally relaxed yesterday to allow fishing for 2 hrs within 5 kms of your home, but boating and golf are still not allowed. Therefore it is now legal to crowd piers but illegal to fish from a boat a few kms from anyone else, or play golf hundreds of metres from any other golfer. Not even mindless twats like blowjob and vic bitter can blame the Libs or the ADF for this one.

My thoughts are show me a Government that's completely transparent, and not incompetent/corrupt and I'll show you a pig which can fly. They're all a shit show and they're all human.

Anyway - I saw that for the next step Melb Metro can travel to regional vic provided they're not at a different stage of lockdown? Anyone got their head around how likely that will be?

I actually think its a smart strategy, with levels so low in the rest of oz, a containment strategy appears totally flawed. both in terms of dropping in and out of lockdowns, and gaining the confidence of the rest of australia

having said that, I think eradication is a bit of a pipedrean. those borders (international and domestic) need to open some time ...soon... people are getting toey

Stok - on the metro/regional bit, as per the roadmap the next step beyond what regional are currently in is a "statewide" step, so regional VIC can't go any further with easing restrictions until metro Melb catches up to them. To borrow that nauseating phrase, once Metro Melb progresses passed current level restrictions we are once more "all in this together" before we move to the final step.

I actually raised this in the surf report comment and some legend clarified it for me, as I was worried that the 5km raidus might be dropped but we still might not be able to go regional. Thank fuck it's not the case, as I'm outta town as soon as legally allowed!

People wearing face masks, scarves and face shields the last however many weeks seems to be working fine and has led us to be ahead of the predicted forecast and yet now all of a sudden everyone HAS to be wearing masks only!
Why?
What we've been doing is working well, why bring in even more un-necessary fucken rules. Jesus I cant stand this cunt of a man. He's gotta go after this is over.
And still no-one knows who was responsible for the hotel quarantine stuff up?

Back to surfing... yeah I lasted about 5 weeks out of the water then I was willing to risk a fine.
My top 3 de-stressing activities are 1. surfing, 2. swimming (laps in pool or in Bay), 3. CrossFit/f45 session. All those were suddenly illegal so I lasted as long as i could then that was it.

Hopefully you are reading it wrong and its much sooner than that for you...

Don’t get too excited just yet with regional opening up (or even the dropping of the 5km rule) in the next step just yet, direct quote from Andrews this morning:

Q: Just on the 5K rule, essentially the further people get from the centre of the city the more punishing that is because they don't have as many shops or parks or amenities within their 5K radius, how much did that reality factor into your decision making in deciding to keep it?

A: all of those factors are really important factors and if I could have announced yesterday in a safe way without compromising the overall objective that the 5Ks was off I would have done that. That's just not an option that the modelling and our experts tell us...it's just not a wise thing to do now. Now in three weeks time...we'll have to wait and see see...I'm not making that announcement but obviously the same process we've gone through this time will be the process we go through then and I can certainly confirm that what's in prospect in three weeks if these numbers continue to fall and testing rates remain at a robust level and all the other things being equal is that the reasons to leave they can go and we can move to a much freer movement...now how far you can go I'm not quite sure where we are going to land on that...we'll get the most...the least restrictive set of arrangements that don't compromise safety or don't run the high risk of us going backwards just a short time thereafter.

That all said, if the active cases continues to plummet as they are, if the daily numbers drop lower and stay low, if the community cases that aren't health/aged care related remain almost non-existent as they are now - good luck to him keeping us locked down in any level of radius.

Victoria’s hotel quarantine inquiry has heard the program failed due to a “multitude of decisions, actions and inactions”.
Delivering closing submissions to the inquiry on Monday, counsel assisting Tony Neal QC said there was no suggestion those who set up the program worked other than with “the best of intentions and to the best of their ability”.
“Bad faith or corruption is not what the evidence shows,” he said.
Neal said public servants were given just 36 hours to set up the program, following a national cabinet announcement on 27 March.
Within two and a half months, the “hastily assembled program failed at two locations ... and with disastrous consequences”, he said.
“It will not be suggested that a single decision or a single actor caused the hotel quarantine program to fail in its objective of stopping the spread of Covid-19 into the broader community,” Neal said.
“A multitude of decisions, actions and inactions, many of which compounded the effect of the other, ultimately expressed itself in the outbreaks which subverted the very reason for the existence of a hotel quarantine program.”

The decision to use private security in Victoria’s botched hotel quarantine program was not a decision at all, the counsel assisting the Victorian hotel quarantine inquiry has said in closing submissions, but Victoria police’s strong preference played a role in the “creeping assumption” to use private security.
Counsel assisting Rachel Ellyard told the inquiry on Monday that the evidence before the inquiry points to no one person ultimately making the decision to use private security guards on 27 March, when the program was announced.
The inquiry has heard on that date, in meetings among senior public servants in Victoria, including emergency management commissioner, Andrew Crisp, and then Victoria police commissioner Graham Ashton, a “creeping assumption” emerged that private security would be used to guard hotels, not police.

Ellyard said because there was no decision, there was no consideration of whether it was appropriate or not, so it was a failure in decision making. She said although Victoria police strongly denies its preference influencing the decision, the “consensus was influenced and strongly influenced we would say, by everyone at that meeting understanding what Victoria police’s preference was.

But hey why not blame Dan? He's an easy target for those who have to have someone to blame and can't be arsed looking at the evidence.

"So no one has to take accountability for it."

People are accountable for their conduct and in this case, in an incredibly difficult situation, some made poor decisions or failed to identify the seriousness of some risks. Does that mean they should be blamed? I don't think so. maybe think about this a bit more.

"Tony Neal QC said there was no suggestion those who set up the program worked other than with “the best of intentions and to the best of their ability”.
“Bad faith or corruption is not what the evidence shows,” he said."

As for frustration, I can't see how creating anger against people who did their best does anything but increase that. Sometimes we should just accept that shit happens despite everyone's best efforts. For me that would seem a better way to maintain mental health.

Considering the coached & consistent responses all ministers who fronted the inquiry gave, and in at least a couple of instances the proven dishonest responses they gave (Pakula and Mikakos lying about their knowledge of security guards for example - there is video evidence), the inquiry was never going to show anything other than collective incompetence was at the heart of the issues with HQ.

I think what is more unforgivable is the repeated concerns raised very early on, within days of its set-up, and from medical professionals no less, that there were significant risks in the hotel program in regards to infection control. Infection control is what fucked this state and the inept contract tracing in place exacerbated it, and I guess as it turns out that was DHHS responsibility, hence Mikakos is gone.

As you seem to love quoting the inquiry, here is another one for you that counsel assisting Ben Ihle gave today:
“The failure by the hotel quarantine program to contain this virus is today responsible for the deaths of 768 people, and the infection of some 18,490,”

And to goofyfoots point - do not as a NSW local pass off what's gone as "shit happens" considering the economic, physical and mental carnage brought on in this state. That's not how it works. This government through their inaction & incompetence has stained this state for a long time to come.
