Just watched the press release from Dan Andrews and I really feel for how victorians are going to once again pay for others stupidity. Not sure how they are going to police the 1 hour exercise policy but a trip down the coast for a surf could be costly. I understand these new restrictions are mainly Melbourne suburbs and I’m very grateful for where I live NSW Qld border. When we were in shutdown there was no time limit for our exercise thank god as a 3 hour surf kept me sane after losing my job.
lol he's the man of mystery. I reckon he time-shares in the sand dunes here on the coast...
"lol he's the man of mystery. I reckon he time-shares in the sand dunes here on the coast."
you won Swellnet for the day VJ. possibly the year for that one.
"angry online, smiley in the brine"
Oh haaaaaaaaiiiiiiii boys, Gary's been lurking quietly but he's still out there watching.
It's true that Gary generally lives in the city so he can expose himself to the most possible eyeballs per square km, but Gary was en vacance with family as things went sideways in Vic and has spent the last couple of months trying to keep his glorious rig in shape in the land of Coopers, Serial Killers, and Farmers' Union Iced Coffee.
Gary can't really put his finger on it but he feels an affinity with the mid-coast in SA.
Gary misses his usual haunts though and will return in good time.
I’ve created a monster. Cause nobody wants to ride faceys no more, they want Gary; I’m chopped liver.
But if ya want Gary this is what I’ll give ya: a little creatine kiss from a hard licker
Ah the mid coast!
Not usually associated with glamour, until now?
The magical Mid?!
Fave spot, Gazza?
I reckon you'd be all over Gull Rock.
Well, the surrounding clifftops at least.
That is a sacred place.
No matter where Gary is in the world, every day at Midday his phone starts playing 'Stayin' Alive'; reminding him to open his compass, turn and face the direction of the promised land (Maslin's Beach), and perform 20 lunges as an offering to the holy men & women who established it.
Gary wouldn’t be the first holy man to instruct his devotees in the benefits of downward facing dog or puppy pose
Congratulations to all victorians on what’s been achieved in the last few months, hopefully you can stay on top of covid and return to some sought of normality. It must have been tough for many of you . Hopefully you get some pumping waves in the coming months to return your sanity .
As a Victorian, I want to be the first to thank Sgt Schultz for leading us out of our unfortunate predicament but, my God, those damn conservatives who organised hotel security have a lot to answer for.
Massive thank you for those who have done their part to reduce the spread of this virus. If the ocean and the waves have been missing for a long time, hang in there, the first contact with the water will be amazing, the first wave to glide past will be very special. It's coming, but also a time when other state borders will be open to you as there is a very low chance of the virus being spread and increasing.
Massive Thanx to Viccos working thru Lock Down while rest of Oz bludged.
Seems the Vic Lock Down cured Unemployment & kept the Nation afloat ...Shh!
Corona Unemployment Stats...(Unemployment Peak % 2020)
ACT- 4.469% (We're all flat out Robo Debting your viral dole Forms)
Tas - 6.759% (Too busy laying sea mines across Bass Strait )
Vic - 7.119% ("Only Oz Paid Corona Leave"- won't stop for a 5m' ADF doorknock)
nsw-7.121% (Boarded in on all sides - rather go to work & stare out the window)
WA- 7.977% (Kicked outta Bali for good this time, gotta surf Shark City instead)
S.A- 8.418% (Gone Camping somewhere interstate with a xxx multi pass.)
Qld- 8.587% (Essentially! Someone has to go Surfing, Fishing & Sunbaking.)
Dan's viral lockdown model was the Tonic for the Troops....
Salute Vic for saving Oz economy!
Thanks to Vic public.
But let's not forget who made the mess.
And more than half of Victoria is so stupid they will vote him back in.
TBB don't worry about Vic, if we change every single licence plate to 'Victoria - State of Disaster' the sheer economic activity of 3 million plates or so, will save the country.
Question: did you get the pool back, and have you been able to body bash in the time since the early lockdown stuff? Hope you did, and wish you well.
Being in the lockdown compared to the rest of Oz, it's like having been on another planet - and Melbourne crew probably have a further degree compared to us in regions.
Looking at what's going on in Europe now, so glad to be at this end of a curve rather than what they are going through. It follows the cold weather...
If only more people had your insight Indo. Why is everyone so dumb but you are so smart? I know, it's hard to fathom.
Indo is simply stating the obvious. Blind Freddy could see what would happen without proper security. I'm sorry to say it Adam, but you must be one dumb SOB.
Seems you are worse at maths than me adam.
More than half of victoria, does not equal everyone.
It leaves almost half of Victoria who wont vote for Dan, or lets hope im wrong and the majority don't vote for him again.
You blokes want to know why the ALP will get back in in Victoria? Have a look at the Liberal Party. What a shit show. They got their arses kicked at the last election and they are seriously thinking about replacing their nobody leader with the klutz that got flogged last time. The Liberal Party has been taken over by religious nutters and they keep throwing up genuinely pathetic candidates. A shed load of them were kicked off the team due to racist, homophobic and bigoted social media posts during the last campaign.
They've spent the entire pandemic whinging and carrying on, demanding fewer and fewer social distancing rules.
Yes hotel quarantine is a mess but most Victorians know we'd be in a much worse position if the idiots in the Liberal Party were in charge.
And one more thing, the hotel quarantine in Vic was not much different to NSW. Yes the ADF played a role in Sydney but there was still a soldier knobbing people in quarantine. There was still private security and many of them worked multiple jobs with zero protection. It was pure luck Vic had an outbreak before NSW,
You'd have to be far stupider to vote for the Libs Indo. Why would people vote for a party who's policies are designed to shift wealth from the majority to the wealthy few.
Maybe Indo is one of the wealthy few?
"Yes hotel quarantine is a mess but most Victorians know we'd be in a much worse position if the idiots in the Liberal Party were in charge."
VicLocal, as usual, a completely stupid opinion. Not sure if there is a much worse position for Melb people to be in given they're allowed out 2 hrs per day, in a 5km zone, losing their businesses, homes, cars, savings, super...
Next time just write:
"Ugh aah. blah booga lib bad labour good blah ugh ugh" and save some space
Billy, take a gander at the situation in the US. If you had the Libs in, they may have put the economy above peoples lives.
Businesses, homes, cars, savings and super can all be replaced, lives can't. You could be one of the long covid sufferers Billy, still struggling for breath months later, staring down the barrel of potential life long heart / neurological problems.
Thank heavens for Dan and his crisis council.Lets hope he continues to burn money and bankrupt small business continuing to follow his Chinese handlers orders. When he ventures outside I’m sure all Victorians will give him a rousing cheer.
We will have another federal election (9/22) before the next Victorian election (11/22).
By 9/22 high unemployment, falling house prices, negative interest rates and the prime marketer's debt and deficit disaster will be front of mind even for those who last saw the last of their treasured free franking credit Howard era largesse cash in late 2020. Plus two more summers of the east coast ablaze with bushfires and the world wide economic fallout of a Republican Party not accepting defeat in later 2020 and Nth America spiralling down down to deal.....
The Victorian hotel quarantine saga by then will be long forgotten and/or the blame rightfully placed as the feet of the god fearing speaking in tongues Slow-mo for not accepting quarantine is and has always been a Federal Govt responsibility, true the Constitution says so!
So, as VL was saying the ALP are a shoe in at the next election .... Load up, put your house on it but gamble responsibly.
The greatest scandal in Australia's history has just been exposed but the blind-stupid posters like Guy, VL, rectum and blowjob want Dan re-elected. If this doesn't reinforce the case for chemical castration then nothing will.
Oh look billythekid is back. You're a typical member of the Liberal Party fan club. You spent a couple of months in autumn telling everyone we should just let the virus rip. I'm really shocked you had the nerve to show up here after that.
Mate. Your opinions are dangerous and foolish in the extreme. Typical of the anti-Dan Andrews mob.
It is kind of a good thing though D-Rex that it didn't happen in a Liberal state, the thread would be 50 pages of whinging long by now.
Obviously the best thing to do is let people make their own choices. Wouldn't you rather choose the risk you take? I'd rather choose to risk getting corona than be told I have to go broke. I could choose to wear a mask and avoid crowds etc.
But people like Vic Local are sheep and like being told what to do. They like rules and boundaries because the responsibility of making their own decisions is too much. VL I'm pretty sure a lot of people in Melb are agreeing with my view in autumn, btw. And I voted labour.
well that is the risk. but its not about me. its about the greater good
"Maybe Indo is one of the wealthy few?"
Im not wealthy money wise, but im quite content with what i earn and have and i have a really good work-life balance, plus im wealthy with other things like family.
Yeah sure i could vote for labor and get more handouts that i dont really need or deserve, but my labor voting days are over.
You know why i stoped voting labor, it was one of those political voting websites that shows you how you should vote based on your answers.
It made me realise i was kidding myself and wasn't voting for the right reasons and when i looked more into policy etc, my political beliefs and values etc fall more in line with LNP (although im yet to vote for them directly only by preference)
Thing is Billy, the choices regarding risk that individuals make actually effect everyone. The actions of a very very small amount of people can jeopardise the health and safety of everyone.
How broke would you be if you got so sick that you couldn't work for 6 months?
FYI, Labour aren't a political party in Australia, sorry to tell you cobba, you probably voted informal.
Tell me, what is the dollar figure you put on a life? Judging by your comments, clearly there is one.
I dunno if the Andrew’s government’s approach has been the right one or not. The grand sweep of history and all that.
But I wonder if he’d have been less stringent and more expedient if compelled to face the voters much earlier than Nov 2022.
Fixed four year terms were vaunted as the means for pollies to put short sighted politics aside and look to the long term.
Here in Vicco, for better or worse, that theory’s been borne out.
Personally, I'm not keen for fucking muppets like billythekid analysing risk and making covid decisions for everyone.
Billythekid is a text book example of a Libertarian nightmare. 100% freedom to do what he wants with 0% responsibility.
Billythekid, you are the ultimate man-Karen.
Indo, care to detail what 'handouts' you would expect to receive under a Labor government? They went to the last election with a platform to reduce a lot of handouts...
"Yeah sure i could vote for labor and get more handouts that i dont really need or deserve, but my labor voting days are over."
So how long did you live on the dole to go surfing Indo? Classic stuff, vote Labor when you're on the dole and the Libs when you start making a quid. The full hip pocket voter, still it's honest of you to own up.
“Billythekid is a text book example of a Libertarian nightmare. 100% freedom to do what he wants with 0% responsibility.
Billythekid, you are the ultimate man-Karen.”
Haha! Brilliant. Cheers for the laugh Vic..
I just outlined why i turned my back on labor, i was voting on a perception of what the parties are and not actual policy. ideals etc
Technically I'm now voting for all the right reasons, but yeah when i was young and on the dole people said your best voting for labor for the best money etc plus you just followed the heard either Greens or Labor. (i voted Greens when i first started voting)
The best thing that every happened for me though was Howard making it harder to bludge on the dole it motivated people like me to get off my arse and really seek work, it was the nudge that we needed after being trapped in the system and by then there was also much more jobs as the economy had picked up. (BTW. i wasn't alone, i was living on the Goldie and all mates started really looking for work and for a while it seemed like everyone was on the dole but then everyone started getting jobs)
BTW. When i finished school it was at the peak of the recession and even if i wanted a job or apprenticeship it would have been super hard to get especially in coastal areas, i was happy surfing, partying and traveling (two six month trips living in a kombi between Vic to Cairns & Vic to Noosa most of that time spent between Crescent to the Goldie) even did my first Indo trip on the dole thanks to some cash work.
I don't really vote based purely on money even if i joke i do, id probably be better off voting for Labor if i did as im not on a high income, i could earn much more than what i do if i worked another 10-15 hours a week or employed someone (which i use too but just found it more of a hassle more paper work, tax, less flexibility etc) but im quite comfortable i have a house near the beach almost paid off, few properties in Indo and a good work life balance.
As it is the whole system IMHO is pretty generous to society, education, childcare, but im sure Labor would give more handout's or make it more generous.
The way i look at it id rather the LNP be in power but when they aren't the likely hood of extra hand outs with labor is always there, i guess that's my way of looking for positives in negatives..
So, having done pretty well out of Labor's policy of maintaining welfare payments above the poverty line, you now prefer to drop them below that level. Hypocritical doesn't even begin to describe your thinking. What you seem to have forgotten (or just couldn't give a shit about) is that not all welfare recipients are footloose young blokes who can pick up enough cash work here and there to maintain their standard of living. Many welfare recipients are in difficult situations trying to feed their families, keep a roof over their heads and maintain some dignity while living below the poverty line. Your suggestion that the system is "pretty generous" is about right if you are middle class, have a decent income and no compunction about exploiting all the middle class welfare options available. If you are out of work in a regional area with hundreds of applicants for any jobs that do come up, the system is very very far from generous.
So Indo why do you preference libs over labs? Is it just because you think the labs provide more welfare/handouts? Is that the only reason?
For the record I've been of voting age for nearly 30 years but I've never cast a vote, neither state nor federal.
The discussions on here have me thinking I might vote just to preference labs over libs... lib corruption / handouts-for-mates is starting to stick out like a sore thumb as opposed to the labs. Federally I'm talking about.
"Even did my first Indo trip on the dole thanks to some cash work"
Er, I'd delete that Indo.
VicLocal and others defending Labor, genuine questions here below as you love to go on the attack with the Libs, but can barely mutter a word against Dan A and his mob in this state.
Are you content with how Labor have handled themselves at the inquiry? Are you satisfied that none of them appeared to know what was going on, or they did know and they are just lying? In which case I'm unsure what's worse.
In your response, please do your absolute best to not respond with "yeh but what about the Feds, what about this, what about anything else that doesn't answer the question"
I ask this question as someone who voted Labor last state election, and someone who thinks the Vic Libs are an embarassment, I've said this before on this site. It is entirely possible to be a Labor voter and still think they have been a pack of lying cunts this year, or if not lying they are just inept & collecting a massive paycheck without knowing what's going on in their portfolios (looking at your Mikakos).
I also ask these questions with this thought in mind: Anyone can lock down the state for months to get cases down. That's the easy part to get on top of the virus. But can you protect the state as every other state has with strong plans in place once we open up?? That's the real test, at which point it's in my opinion our state government is the countries biggest fail in the history of Australia.
Indo, It's pretty obvious what you think a "handout" is. government payments to people on low incomes. eg unemployed people or pensioners
Indo, are the following government handouts? $30mil to a Liberal Party donor for a $3 mil block of land. Billions in subsidies to the fossil fuel industry, Endless untendered contracts ending up in the hands of Liberal Party mates. $440 mil to some shonk for security on Manus Island. Billions to aged care and child care providers (with a shit load going to Dutton's missus). The billions in middle class welfare payments handed out by Howard. Billions going to well-off pensioners in the form of franking credit rebates for tax they never played in the first place.
Personally, I'd rather my taxes help some single mum put food on the table than allow some corrupt liberal party donor afford another super yacht.
"Even did my first Indo trip on the dole thanks to some cash work“
So you like cashies, as a tradie I’m guessing you still do
Would you be happy to see your taxes going to single surfee travelling and surfing around Australia in a clapped out Kombi on a shoe-string budget?
"Would you be happy to see your taxes going to single surfee travelling and surfing around Australia in a clapped out Kombi on a shoe-string budget?"
Zen, The reality is, some people will always take advantage of the dole, but they make up a very small percentage of those receiving it. Estimated at 10%.
The last figure I saw about jobs advertised to people looking for work is 1:13. So while I'm not keen on funding lazy fuckers going on Indo-style road trips, I don't want to punish the 90% of people who get the dole and want to work.
I would , Zen.
Make it a Voluntary deal.
Give a year of national service then get a year on a guaranteed minimum income. That would be a great plan for our youth. We would have a steady stream of young crew ready to learn a skill and serve the community which would also create a stronger bond with our national community. Make them feel a part of something. Give them a sense of what nationhood actually means - that we are in it together as a society by contributing to projects which benefit the greater good. Then they had a year to roam the nation as they see fit and find their place without the threat of destitution and societal pressure to have a job hanging over their heads.
I reckon you’d have way more productive young people relocate to the regional areas after they’ve had a year to find somewhere they like and settle in and meet people which leads to employment down the track. It’d also help divorce young people from the idea that you have to go to Uni if they found a job they liked and were good at whilst they had the security of guaranteed income.
Let the youth be free and let them prosper. Consider it seed money.
"Are you content with how Labor have handled themselves at the inquiry? Are you satisfied that none of them appeared to know what was going on, or they did know and they are just lying? In which case I'm unsure what's worse."
damn good question Dx3
i fucking cannot stand this behaviour from any politician, regardless of team
but vic labor have taken this to new heights with this little inquiry, bloody shameful, making scotty from marketing appear totally amateurish
...if they get away with it...
which they probably will, ...as vic is full of idealogues, and they posses an opposition about as palatable as an abbott fish ice cream desert
Dan takes the wrap for PM, just as Aged care...(Feds do Inbound Quarantine.)
Media won't dare bite the PM's hand that feeds their only Full Page Ads.
Airports / Border Camps / Outlying Govt Buildings are retrofitted for Quarantine
The idea of Quarantine is to isolate the virus not spread it thru Oz Cities.
Oz Darwin example...(Video)https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7992909/Military-approves-11-CO...
PM ordered OZ viral arrivals into CBD Hot Hotel Chains of his choice (eg: Rydges)
Explain how Qld / NSW chix agreed? They couldn't, wouldn't & didn't! (see > PM)
Non ventilated, no light o/n Apartments weren't fit for 2 weeks, so many escaped.
PM's Policy states non hospitable (Upright) [+] after 14 days were free to leave.
Repeating this was Federal Quarantine that released positive cases thru our cities.
That's right! 1000's of Scomo's viral aliens walked free & Media says nothing?
Scomo's [+] Aliens freely spread virus thru city transit. Check-ups- seldom if at all.
PM's Border Force was always controlling & costing decisive half of all Quarantine.
PM bussed [+] to CBD + Outsourced Laundry-Meals + released [+] > city transit.
After PM's Hillsong Princess Oz wide Plague he decided to gift the ADF to his Gurl.
PM's pash doll billed other states for her flash AFP / ABF / ADF / Red Cross .
No other state was offered or ever given this VIP package & is to last the longest.
Yes! ADF was offered for borders but at premium cost for other state's Hot Hotels.
Ghoulish Shock Jocks reckon Vic could learn a thing from Lib's NSW Quarantine.
Note: Each of Sydney's rolling breaches is still reported as....Sydney's (1st Breach?)
Govt's Media actually thinks nobody notices? Well! Most don't!
No media ever presses for source or how far the outbreak...(PM's gurl is off limits!)
* From Day One Sydney Rydges loses 33 (Cruise delegates-Doctors) Finds just 6 .
* Other chix bashed guards to escape to the park for fresh air & even onto a Plane.
* Another dude Wrestles security to breakout & have a fag. (Says he didn't inhale!)
* Marriott Security Guard spreads Covid-19 > Syd Courts > Syd Markets (Where?)
* World health ordered 366 to evacuate a filthy Sydney Quarantine Hotel
* ADF Guard is busted fucking a guest old enough to be his mum (He claims older!)
Clearly NSW not Vic has the Quarantine Crisis....well durr...Who can't see that?
Shock Jock's model NSW Quarantine Guards hard at work in Sydney Hot Hotels...https://imageresizer.static9.net.au/Pi248Aql9bOUn3ojTJPb9Fbk77g=/636x0/h...https://imageresizer.static9.net.au/fvzB8t1MzL-2OD4D8EvOs1N5ie4=/636x0/h...
WA Hot Hotels turnstyle had one lady doctor, who was told to shut the Fuck Up!
Lost her job after counting 30 had walked out with Govt VIP Bubble Gum Cards.
Rydges Brisbane was another Hot mess, all states but Vic recorded breakouts.
Other states had issues with shops, smokes, girlfriends, masks + NZ break outs.
A Crowne Plaza breakout idiot climbed into a Police Station to arrest himself.
PM directs Hot Hotel Chain manager to fuck his guest & spread the virus over Vic.
NSW has 400x more breaches than Vic, but media won't breathe on PM's mistress.https://www.abc.net.au/cm/rimage/10933588-3x2-xlarge.jpg?v=5
Vic were played & screwed without a Hillsong mate to run or interject in yer inquiry.
Qldurrz will swap...Anna + All of Goldie's Essential Vic Beachfront Magnates +
Bonus - Eddie's 40,000 Millionaire Hot Seat's for AFL Final + One Goldie Logie.
All that for just one of Dan the Man's real life, up front dinkum press interviews.
"Would you be happy to see your taxes going to single surfee travelling and surfing around Australia in a clapped out Kombi on a shoe-string budget?"
I'm totally cool with it ...if there's no jobs...
which was the case when indod was doing it...
I actually see it as a form of community service / sacrafice. If you can live a relatively healthy (non depressed) life on the dole through times where there is little prospect for employment, without being a burden on other services, ...good for you... go for it...
better than all those small business scammers cooking their books to keep their healthcare cards and the like whilst leading 100s of $1000 lifestyles
or the new manifestation of the above, cooking the books to maintain jobkeeper payments
the doley in his kombi is small fry
I agree Vic, it was a rhetorical question and Dude, I think your idea has merit.
Welfare is such a hard thing to administer- how do you target those that need it the most? How do you withhold it from those who need it the least?
An important question is (and all things being equal) how much do you pay a person to keep them out of poverty, to lead a relatively dignified existence but not take away the incentive to improve themselves either through getting a job, training or education?
