What’s going to happen in America when Trump gets re-elected ?

How far will the fascists go to remove the democratically elected leader this time ?

Still some notion of America's capacity to reinvent itself, it's a nation of immensely creative and ambitious people, however partisan politics and ideological movements are congealing around non-negotiable positions, while the Bush Wars are depleting morale, self-belief, and money.

Perhaps the worst thing that could happen to America is Trump getting re-elected. He's served his person, highlighted a heretofore ignored concept, but everything he's done since then has been devastating to America. Cometh the hour, cometh the wrecking ball.

If he gets in the future is China's for the taking.

And if Kanye West becomes pres I'll sign up to the CCP myself.

It’s a struggle to endure this fella , yet he makes some worthy points.

The more important question is, what happens when Trump loses? Trump isn't going to accept that election result but I'm confident the US Military will behave appropriately and ensure Trump actually goes.
It's the heavily armed Karen and Ken's in the Trump Cult that are the problem.
There's three guaranteed things for election 2020.
1. China and Russia will be doing everything they can to help Trump (The dictator cuddled) win.
2. Trump will do plenty of things, like voter suppression and gerrymandering, to ensure the elections are not free and fair.
3. It will be violent.
But hey, on the bright side, 99% of Covid cases are harmless in the USA, so they got that going for them.

Agree it's hard to see Dems crossing the floor on some matters, perhaps lessoned learned from eight years of oppositionalism?

Never mind China on the rise, Trump cannot lead for the nation, only his base, so if he gets in the self-fulfilling prophecy of all preppers, Libertarians, militia men, and miscellaneous nutters comes one very large step closer to reality.

Stu.....go to 4:25 in that video to hear Michael Moore talking about the situation pre-Trump victory and predicting Trump’s election.

I’d never seen it before. The sort of obvious insight completely lacking from the MSM ....even to this day !

Yes , it’s still true to this day. Even more so now that the population is getting told what they can and can’t think in a manufactured culture war.

Trump will romp it in and shit will hit the fan . He’s obviously not the leader needed but there is literally no one else willing to walk the path that the population has highlighted with the protest vote.

Question remains ....Why do the Democrats continue to refuse to acknowledge this ? Why are they ( like the ALP ) so beholden to the neoliberalism that undermines their core principles ?

Joe Biden ? I’m not sure if he’s the answer to anything except the question “ What does it look like when an ageing politician suffers cognitive deterioration under the public gaze ? “

Trump is Trump. He was always going to operate in the ugly combative way he has. It’s the Republican Party that continues to support him that should be held in the highest level of contempt. So it has come to this in a country where if you wear a mask to protect yourself against COVID-19 it is seen as a sign of weakness, of how leftist you are and how much of a sinner you are blocking God’s holy airway. North America is broken, a shell of its former great self,

I disagree with the notion that armed nutters will rise up if Trump fails because they aren’t that brave nor organised, maybe some isolated acts of violence but hey that’s an everyday event in the
land of the free.

Don’t discount Trump not contesting a second time, he will prefer to not contest than lose.

Yep, I've seen that, and understand why they vote for him, but it's just Trump talking pretty. Same way he said he'd drain the swamp, and then stacked his cabinet and the executive with cronies. Trump's reshoring was largely bogus to begin with, automation and wage costs laid waste to the dream of American factories on American soil staffed by American people.

But yeah, he said the right thing.

Stu......so much could be done to MAGA. It doesn’t have to end at hollow pre-electoral platitudes.

That’s why I’m completely at a loss as to why the Democrats are fielding a mentally unsound right-wing candidate instead of recognising the successful concept behind Trump’s victory , realising that it actually falls within the scope of their principles and seriously running with it themselves.

I’d say that it’s a similar case and cause to the ALP abandonment of the working class....corruption.

"I disagree with the notion that armed nutters will rise up if Trump fails because they aren’t that brave nor organised"
Guy, This is true to a point. These armed nutters see themselves as rugged individualists, so we will see lone wolf terrorism repeated many times across the country. It won't be organised on the ground, but it will be organised online.
I read a book called "A Warning - Anonymous" by a senior Trump administration official. The author obviously is, or was, a central figure in the Trump administration and he writes about a plan for a "mass resignation" of the "steady staters". These are people who support republican causes but are horrified at Trump's incompetence, ignorance, racism, and corruption. They planned to all resign at the same time to highlight how bad things are under Trump. They didn't go through with the plan because their replacements would have been dangerous "yes men".
Most of the Steady Staters have been picked off or resigned individually. You can expect all these ex-Trump administration officials to dump a huge pile of shit on Trump during the election campaign. The full horror of Trump will come out prior to Nov 2020.

Trump's "no better or worse - or more divisive - than the Democrats."
Trump is a person who tweeted a video of his supporters yelling "white power"? He used the military to tear gas his own people so he could do a photo shoot at a church. He regularly retweets extremist content and promotes mad conspiracy theories.
You've spent years on this site promoting and denying racism. It's no shock that you think the Democrats are as divisive as Trump. When it comes to racism, you and Trump are cut from the same cloth.

The entire US system of voting is flawed. When a state with 500 000 people can have as many Senate representatives as a state with 16 million then you know things don't add up.

But it goes much deeper than that and there isn't anyone more capable of explaining the deficiencies than a comedian who knows what he is talking about.

"How did the 2020 presidential election in America come down to Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden? Hasan illustrates why our partisan, two-party system is the result of winner-take-all elections and why ranked choice voting is a much more democratic alternative. He also talks to U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) about the ideological divide in the Democratic party between moderates and progressives."

Westofthelake makes an excellent point about electoral distortion in Nth America.

Like so many other important public services e.g. health, education and policing nationally consistent electoral laws and standards like we have here in Australia do not exist in Nth America.

Electoral laws and standards governing every and all facets of how elections are run in Nth America vary wildly from state to state. Gerrymandering is extreme and US citizens are barred from voting in many states if they have a criminal conviction.

There are many objective studies of the US electoral system that conclude a Republican president and a majority of Republican senators and governors would never be elected if all these electoral distortions were removed.

North America - the land of the free and democracy, yeah nah.

you're totally misinterpreting my point re. abc, but I'll move on

my main issue with them is the totally warped version of events they presented. the reporting of chaz about 5 days after it happened, presenting it as a daytime music festival - which it was - whilst totally ignoring all the nastyness that went on at night. same with ny and just about the whole coverage of every city. totally ignoring an absolute abundance of normally 'gold' news material.

the vids were all there for all to see, assumung you knew where to look. ...and assuming a 'journalist' would know where to look...

absolute gold standard news material, ignored for months

the best of them?

I follow a heap of them, whilst trying to ignore their influence, so not good with the names, but its all the cnn's, vox's, nbc's, cnbc's cnnnnbc's and on... nyt, wa-po, etc., even pbs

there's definitely some weird 'consensus' of reality going on

No, Stu. I mean hypocrisy.

When the reality of her inferral is that convicts sent against their will to a prison island for the term of their natural life , should be “ owning “ their white guilt and committing to repatriations , whilst I’ll bet London Bridge to a dollar that Harry - the direct descendant and primary beneficiary of the crew who declared Terra Nullis / Slave trade / colonialist profiteering- won’t be saying goodbye to too much in the way of real wealth .

Misguided implies that they don’t genuinely expect anyone to dedicate real wealth or sacrifice to the cause. Of course they do.....just not their wealth.

That ain’t some “ white fragility “ buzzword spewed out of some woke clown’s imagination. She is separating White people from the rest of humanity and declaring that they are uniquely guilty of some supposed injustice and that every other race is owed something. She ain’t referring to Japanese , Chinese , Saudi’s or Sudanese ....she means White people.

Because it’s not a standalone incident. It’s not happening in a vacuum.

I’m talking about the emerging mindset that White people deserve to be persecuted.

Take that couple in the states who were quietly having dinner inside their house when a mob broke into their yard and started saying they were going to murder them , burn their house and kill their dog. The crowd was chanting “ This land isn’t yours anymore .”

A man and woman left to defend themselves from hundreds of unprovoked mob fuvkwits and who do people side with ....the mob !
Crew talk as if these people deserved what happened to them and that they were fuckwits for being shit scared and brandishing guns against hundreds of people.

That’s fucking perverse.

There’s even fuckwits on here taking the piss out of them , calling them Karen and Ken . Acting like they earned what happened- still happening- because they were white.

Put that into context with the same people crying because someone, somewhere suffered a micro aggression such as being asked where they were from . The same fuckwits who think the full weight of the law needs to be thrown at someone who gives a race based verbal slur on a bus , now think that it’s funny if two innocent people are targeted because of their skin colour - as long as it’s white.

The incident happened in the USA but the mindset is here- White people are bad and deserve what they get.

I’m commenting on current affairs and events. Shit which is in the papers and on the news every day and you ask me not to discuss it on Swellnet cause you think I’m some White supremacist suffering white fragility and dirtying up your homage to critical thinking.....pfffft.
