Blindboy tells me that populism is inherently bad because it places the decision making process square in the hands of the population- a concept I consider democratic. But apparently the decisions are best left in the hands of our “ expert “ political class.

How’s that working ......https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2019/03/60-minutes-ridicules-alan-tudge...

This is the answer I gave you then, and nothing has changed.

"BB, the U.N. and the W.H.O talk about economic development, education, birth control and also government incentives as methods to address population growth in developing nations."

Trump2: The Not-So-Real Donald

The deal has been done. It's been right there for all to see for quite some time now, but hey..... look over there! Who's watching, with Mueller and walls and Kim to distract us? No, the coup was stealthy, no military, no impeachment, just gentle persuasion ...... and a fair offer. Protection and a second term, just give up your power and hand it back to the Republican establishment. Think of the benefits, you can tweet whatever you like, play golf, watch Fox News talk about you, eat Maccas. What more could your fading cognitive powers want? No more briefing papers, no more worries about people resigning, respectful policy analysis in mainstream media. Statesman, they'll call you a statesman Donald! You can go down in history as a statesman.

And all your legal problems gone. Obstruction? Under the carpet already! Collusion, well you never did, I mean who in their right mind would ever have considered conspiring with you anyway. Your deep and on going ignorance of anything beyond your limited range of sound bites was absolute protection. The flunkies did the dirty work and will have plenty of time to think about it because, yeh that too, we really don't want you pardoning them, bad for the party image. Anyway, like you said, you prefer people who don't get caught. Sexual harassment, fraud? No worries a quick word in the NY prosecutor's ear and you're in the clear.

Your base? Well yep, you've sold them out. No wall, no change to immigration, and no, sorry Donald, but you didn't make America great again, and no, it won't be on your second term agenda either. Not good for business, wages would have to go up, then there would be all those schools and hospitals when there is more to be made selling weapons to terrorists ..... sorry our wonderful Saudi allies.

And you know this is nothing new. It's old school US politics, if you need a stooge, sorry actor, hire a pro, not a top draw one, just some fading matinee idol or reality TV has been. Just some one who can look the camera in the eye and smile while they avoid the question.... and Donald you don't even have to do that. Say what you like ....... and we will do what we like. Same as always. Did someone mention disruption? Ha ha ha ha ha

I can see no reason for anyone to take exception to the Mueller investigation - processes such as these have plenty of precedent in USA political history. This specific investigation does not target an individual but examines whether that nation's democratic system has been compromised by influences and intrusions made by another nation - one of the concerns, among many, was that such interference may have occurred during meetings held at Trump Towers between Russian government operatives and Trump campaign staff at a time when Trump Inc was attempting to procure finances for a development in Moscow. The basis of this part of the Mueller investigation is valid and needed to be assessed....there are a range of other activities attached to Trump Inc's financial activities, including tax evasion, that will also be investigated (as have been and are the finances of other corporations where concerns regarding non-compliance exist). That the AG's short summary contends that the President did not engage in collusion with Russian intrusions into the 2016 campaign is surely a good thing - it would be of great concern if it was found to be otherwise. It is all part of a due legal and political process and part of the checks and balances that form the basis of a democracy......no one has had access to the full Mueller Report and is qualified to draw any wholesale conclusions yet.

SO people think that just because Mueller's report was handed over late on Friday arvo to Barr (a Trump appointee) that his 4 page summary is the end of the story.

Really?

In Barr’s letter, he specifically quotes from Mueller’s findings about possible obstruction of justice: “while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

AS for "Love or hate Trump, it's about time everyone just accepted him as president and moved on from the which hunt'"

Yea naa.

It's a long way from over.

The lawyers have plenty of work ahead of them.

I guess the transparent and honest thing for Trump to do would be to publicly release the findings without redactions.

What's the chances of that happening? Sweet FA I reckon.

Blowin's picture
Blowin's picture
Blowin Tuesday, 26 Mar 2019 at 9:29am

Due process ?

It’s been a witch hunt since day one. The entire concept of Russian collusion was a FABRICATION by his political enemies. It’s not like a crime has been committed and the wrong person has been accused.

There WAS no crime.

Its this fact that is relevant. It’s not enough to prove his innocence and move on , the spotlight and investigation should now turn towards who and what has intentionally created this defamatory and disruptive campaign in order to oust a democratically elected leader.

For two years the MSM has piled on , both aiding and abetting false allegations to be leveled. Not just slightly , the story and campaign against Trump has been concerted , calculated and relentless. The aim has alaways been to depose Trump , not seek justice. When it became apparent that purely creating the smear campaign wouldn’t be enough to get rid of him the conspiracy then turned its efforts towards deposing him through “ obstruction “ which was nothing but Trump defending himself against false charges.

Again and again the global media , the Democrats and their internationally dispersed stooges - such as Blindboy - false accused an innocent person of criminal acts in order to further their political desires.

This is a criminal act in itself.

The act of diverting the energy and focus of the nation’s leader from the job of running the nation so he can defend himself against false allegations is an attack on the nation itself. It’s nothing short of treasonous. The standing of the President in international eyes was severely diminished by his own domestic enemies and their selfish ambition. The worst bit is that these people remain believing that they were justified in these actions. Look at BB . Not an ounce of contrition.

It turns out that the Mueller investigation was actually a blessing as it’s shone a light on those who would truly circumvent democracy......Trump’s accusers.

Trump is the same fuckwit he’s always been . At least the MSM and their co conspirators are finally exposed as the fuckwits they’ve always been as well.

Blindboy has been spreading fake news for two years . Imagine if someone had been relentlessly and publicly accusing you of a crime you’d never committed for two long years.....

Clinton wanted war with Russia. Many , many people would have died in this needless war. Russia gave the US public the entire picture of the woman on which to make an informed decision.

And you think this is a bad thing .

Thank fuck for Russia because , as has recently been illustrated so graphically, the MSM had no desire to tell the truth about Clinton even if the result of which is avoiding a global conflict .

It is very accurate.

It describes how a verdict has been reached and that the conspirators have chosen to ignore the findings. I’d like to think that the final two paragraphs were employed ironically- that of using the opinions of a couple of utterly unrelated Hollywood groupthink leftist who are doubling down on revealing their partisan ignorance as an example of the state of politics in the US. But seeing as how it was the authors example that the issue is not settled , I suspect not.

Also loved the way the issue was compared with Nixon - as usual - except in Nixons case a crime had been committed and then they discovered the President was responsible. Unlike Trump whereby his dislike led to the urge to create a FAKE CRIME with his guilt preordained.

Still no mention of Russian meddling revealing nothing but the truth about Clinton. If only all democracies were lucky enough to benefit from a third party informing the public just who it is that is seeking absolute power in their country. The USA should be grateful. The world should be grateful.

Strange calls in here of FAKE NEWS/WITCH HUNTS/FAKE CRIME etc etc etc...the investigation was not about any particular individual's behaviour or actions - it was regarding validated concerns regarding Russian intrusion into and manipulation of the American 2016 election...... a significant number of indictments and convictions have emanated via an independent legal process....nothing fake or partisan about that - Mueller is no Democratic lackey rather a competent professional with an impeccable record.......the issue of collusion appears (given what has been released via a 4 page precis of a significantly larger document) to have been resolved, with other matters such as obstruction and perjury still to be attended to. People are doing time for breaking laws and others cleared of misdoings (thus far) - the investigation has well proven its worth.

[Breaking News] One Nation caught out in US/NRA sting (Foreign Donations?)

factotum's picture
factotum's picture
factotum Tuesday, 26 Mar 2019 at 7:05pm

One Notion and the NRA!

Oh dear.

But then again, who is surprised in the slightest?

The timing and M.O. of this is interesting though.

I like this quote from our Prime Marketer about the whole embarrassing affair.

“But the fact that they were prepared to do it, if you are ever wondering why you shouldn’t be voting One Nation, there is a pretty good reason.”

But he once again stopped short of declaring One Nation should sit at the bottom of any Liberal party how-to-vote cards.

“I am not interested in getting One Nation’s preferences, I am interested in getting their primary vote,” he said.

“I won’t put up with it. That is why I don’t want their preferences, I want their primary votes because that is the right thing for Australia.”

One Nation are low-hanging fruit, rotten to the point of falling off the tree. An easy target.

As John Birmingham said about ex-One Notional Fraser Anning, "He is saying the quiet part loud. This government and its leading figures have long said the loud part quietly by stoking fear and hatred for electoral gain..."

Now let's cast our minds back to Pauline and One Notion mk I.

Much has been said about Big John Winston Howard of late and his 'unequivocal' rejection of Pauline & One Notion regarding any kind of preference deal.

Jeez, how well we remember that he even sicced his mad dog, Tones Abbott, onto her, eventually leading to her doing hard-time!

Good old Winston, the man of steel! The integrity oozing out of every orifice. Huzzah!

Yeah, nah...

Of course, we all really know that Big John saw her as an electoral threat, and just stole her racist shtick, all the while whispering the loud part quietly like the cunning shithouse rat he always was.

Fast forward to Pauline & One Notion mk II. Now the 'notion' is just all about the $$$$. She learned something whilst in the political wilderness. Get in and make bank! Dancing with the idiots! A new sunrise!

Yet instead of being stalked by the Machiavellian malevolence of Big John, she's up against the third-rate Prime Marketer. A man OPENLY stating, "I don’t want their preferences, I want their primary votes because that is the right thing for Australia.”

Talk about shouting the quiet part loudly!

What a shit-show. Australia, you're standing in it!
