Death penalty for terrorists

I know it won't happen in Australia any time soon but I believe there is a strong argument for bringing back the death penalty for those convicted of terrorist offences in Australia. As there is no prospect of rehabilitation for such offenders, the safety of society can only be guaranteed by their permanent removal. Happily, most of these scum are shot dead by police but for the terrorists who survive or failed plotters who are apprehended it would surely be a favourable outcome to see them swinging at the end of a rope.

The racial equality crusaders who hate white people.

The high priests of tolerance and diversity who castigate people who don’t think or choose to live the way they deem acceptable.

The sanctimonious who try to disguise their preaching as conversation amongst equal parties by employing the collective term “ we “ when they mean someone else , not themselves. Waleed Ally is chronic for it - “ We really are a deeply racist nation “. Is that so , Waleed ? You honestly think you’re deeply racist ?

That’s who I want to see jettisoned into space.

BTW. on the white supremacist thing.

There was actually a guy down here in the late 80s through the 90s i guess he was a full on neo nazi had the full cliche look with the skin head and exposed crazy tatts including neck tatts (which were not so common back then) and he was a solid guy, scary looking dude in every way.

And he had some kind of tradie business, can't remember exactly what it was a painter or plumber or something, anyway his business name was "white power" and had some crazy symbol, i can't remember if it was nazi symbol or a some weird cross or something.

Had a big old bedford van with name and logos etc on it but looked like it was done with a paintbrush so not real professional looking,

I remember at the time think fuck that shits crazy, how on earth does he get work, but i do remember seeing him around with all his equipment and seemed like he had work, and he spent a lot of time at the pub drinking and playing pool so must have got more money than just the dole...

I always kept my distance from him though, was a scary looking dude.

But to be fair last night with the PM he did okay, was trying to put words in the PMs mouth and misrepresent him, but thats expected thats what most media do to politicians and Scomo would have expected it its part of the job.

I know it takes 5 mins to Google...

Waleed was born in Oz married an Oz Ranga gaining a Kiwi Mother in law!
Both his children are Aussie born & bred...the youngest with Autism.
Few of us know of families with stronger Aussie bloodlines.

Easier to argue Waleed is 110% pure White trash with a dash of Muslim!
If not, then what would fair dinkum Aussies like Waleed label the rest of us?

Just noting Waleed has family ties in NZ...every right to discuss NZ shooting?

If I may pipe in here with a little reading between the lines, cos god knows, it's definitely not a strength on the internet...

When blowin writes this...

"We really are a deeply racist nation “. Is that so , Waleed ? You honestly think you’re deeply racist ?

And says that he hates the 'we' bit. He's getting pissed with waleed for grouping us all in together in his lamenting of being a racist nation.

Because some of us genuinely feel we're not racist...actions and words etc.

And with this....

"Waleed ? You honestly think you’re deeply racist ?"

Really waleed? Do you really think you are a deeply racist person?

Surprised that a reasonable cool cat like waleed, someone smarter and better than being a racist fuck, sees himself as being a bit of a racist prick.

What waleed is saying (through his lens of accepted identity politics) Is that Australia is a deeply racist nation, with a deeply racist past, which makes us racist as a people and nation.

Blowin rejects that logic

Or I'm totally wrong, and blowin is a racist fuck....

sypkan's picture

sypkan Friday, 22 Mar 2019 at 1:42pm

It's just the shortcomings of peak identity politics, an idea so over developed and over explored, it has nothing left to offer but seeing and labelling racism everywhere.

Which is fine, until someone points out the hypocrisy, and then IP has no argument, because it developed in a self perpetuating, self reinforcing bubble. Void of argument and self reflection, it developed into religious dogma. All faciltated by a bubble of political correctness, protecting it from the usual justification of academic rigour.

Or, blowin is a racist fuck...

There is no sustainable argument against the proposition that Australia has been a deeply racist nation for a substantial part of its history. The improvement in recent decades is significant but is far from being a complete solution. Those who want to assert that the problem is completely in the past undermine our efforts to improve further. Those who want to take the statement as a personal insult either have extremely limited comprehension or, more usually, believe that equal treatment and acknowledgement of past issues is all that is required. This conveniently ignores the inter-generational disadvantage that has accrued most obviously to indigenous people but also to a significant extent against a majority of non-Anglo immigrants. In the case of indigenous people it also ignores the catastrophic consequences of their dispossession. Acknowledging the past is meaningless unless it is accompanied by effective policies to undo as much of the damage as possible. Equal treatment does not equal equity. Inter-generational issues must be included in any policy if it is to be effective. A further issue that is usually ignored is the patronising and controlling nature of most policies that seek to address inequality. There is a huge amount of evidence that when control remains with the existing power structures, policies simply do not achieve their intended outcomes but do succeed in providing well paid jobs to members of non-target groups.

Waleed uses the “ We “ to signify something we as a nation are guilty of such as denying our history , for example.

But Waleed doesn’t deny our history, he’s too smart for that as are most people , it’s just a writing technique which excuses him from the accusation of finger pointing.

For example Waleed would say - “ We are a deeply racist nation “ when he really means “ Australians are deeply racist “ . Of course he doesn’t consider himself racist , but by including himself in the guilty party it allows him to ascribe character traits and stereotype Australians without facing recourse.

There's no sustainable argument against the proposition that identity politics has been overcooked somewhat either, jokimg, well, not really....

No one's disputing the blackfellas were done over. Not many would dispute they're still being done over with structural racism either.

But some of us endeavour to overcome our internal instincts of racism at every encounter. You calling us all ignorant, stupid and complicit in maintaining the supposed 'white supremicism' everywhere is just a little bit offensive. Surely you can see that?

Not saying that racism is only in the past either. Or that there are no racists left. Just that your reverse dog whistling is rather dumb and divisive.

dog whistling might be the wrong term, race baiting maybe, or....... signalling, I dunno what it is called. But I know it's fucking divisive whatever it is.

Here’s a miniscule snapshot of my experience with racist sentiment in Australia.
I grew up in the country that institutionalised racism and unfortunately was part of that culture (30 years in Australia has made me into a decent human being again I hope).
What I find surprising is that in general conversation with people I meet (ie Australian born) the topic at some point generally returns to my chequered past and I hear the following comment on a fairly regular basis:
“I’m not racist, but ………..”
Now I’m not saying every person I meet says this, but it does surprise me how often it happens and even more surprising in some instances the person it is coming from. That comment does not necessarily make you a full blown racist, but it does indicate an underlying sentiment that tips it in that direction.
Just an observation and not at all insinuating that Australia is a deeply racist country as a whole.

Blowin's picture
Blowin's picture
Blowin Friday, 22 Mar 2019 at 3:38pm

So it’s not possible to interpret “ I’m not racist, but .....” as the person informing you that they are self aware on the issue of racism , but they have a point to make that covers the topic of race and they intend to make it in good faith ?

People do discuss the issue of race and the accusation of racism gets thrown around so flippantly , that people like to clear the air .

Nothing untoward about it.

As you said yourself , the people making the statement are not racists. Its not an indication of anything at all really , It’s just a ridiculous trope that stemmed from a trite statement that half wit commentator made and it’s stuck because it suits those who like to broad stroke their accusations.

Never ever say "I'm not racist but" that now means, I'm a racist...no matter what is said after those words, you could bag the queen out about her shoes, you will still be labeled a racist.

The best way to ensure everyone knows you are not racist, is just accuse others of racism when ever possible, even when things have nothing to do with race, it will make you look good...for best effect you have to get in first though.

If there is someone that is real knob or does something stupid etc, if they are of an obvious race that is not white, just ensure you avoid any criticism of them whatsoever, doest matter what they do....,yeah yeah...i know you are not calling them out because of skin colour or race or whatever, and technically yes you should look past race and skin colour and treat everyone equal, good or bad..

But its better to say nothing or even defend them rather than someone think you are being racist...

B- Aboriginal rural and regional settlements?

Ok Ok...... A "one off" you may say.....

A - Bogan west Sydney "Houso" communities
B - An outback town with a very large aboriginal population and high alcohol intake
C- "white regional towns" like Shepparton or Albury suffering a meth epidemic

Well that sucks dude thats really not fair, If I'm going to call you out on something, I'm at least going to tell you what it is, so now i have to give a god damn summary of it all again.

Anyway if you haven't noticed the whole theme here has been calling out double standards and hypocrisy.

1. Egg incident, it okay and kids a hero because we don't like the guy or what he says, but if it was a right wing nutter egging say a labor or greens poly, everyone here would have a complete different view.

2. Christianity and Christians fair game for any criticism but calling out the huge faults in Islam is a phobia and everyone seems hell bent on protecting the most outdated religion on earth (not to mention calling things people say about islam is hate speech, while ignoring the fact the koran is loaded full of hate speech to the point it clearly calls to kill non believers, which is the root of all these problems, the mainstream view that radical muslims misinterpret the Koran is actually a complete fallacy, its all written there as plane as day, some of the leaders of radical islam have actually studied Islam at the highest level possible, the reality is, we are just lucky that most good people don't follow the korean as intended just like its great most christians don't follow the Bible as intended like bible bashers do, because thats what the bible says to do, convert non believers, the big difference between both religions is one believes non believers should be killed if they dont convert or leave islam, the other just believes they will go to hell if don't convert.

3. Our PM and government completely fair game for any criticism whatsoever on how genuine they are or motives, you can call them liars and all kinds of shit no one will blink(great example Blindboy even started a thread doing it), but if said about NZ PM, shit everyone is suddenly mr morals. (Not to mention absolutely no acknowledgement of the great work done by our governments in tighting gun laws 25 years ago and the countless prevention of terroist attacks)

I can see your honest, genuine, non judgemental view, which you seem to carry with you everywhere. Great work on that extension by the way. Remember folks, you can’t win a debate on religion or politics, you can only have an opinion.

@ID

1) Well, as long as it was something as harmless as an egg. I mean, it's not as if you can equate it with the assasination of JFK - that would just be moronic. Most people can see Anning got in on an extreme technicality and doesnt belong there, so why hold him to the same standard?

2) Agree that sometimes there's an imbalance, but as has been pointed out many times lately, it's not like Christianity hasn't deserved its whipping from Western society. It's been the cause of subjugation, oppression, political interference, physical interfernce (in the case of women and their own bodies), non-payment of taxes, war, and most recently paedophilia. Many people have a right to criticise.

Also, here's also plenty of hate speech in the Bible. The Koran aint alone there.

3) Howard's gun laws have been mentioned here so many times (even by Guy Smiley!). Also, by your own reasoning, if Ardren should be blamed for letting Christchurch happen then likewise Howard for Port Arthur.

Meanwhile, Liberal dog whistling on race has become so prominent that I notice even The Australian is calling them on it, which gives you an idea how genuine their motives really are.

While we're here, the line about Ardern virtue signalling was bollocks. Made you sound like a paid up member of Breitbart or Daily Stormer. Virtue signalling generally refers to some theoretical issue that a person would like to attach their image to without causing them any effort or hardship.

Honestly, here's a person that's meeting with families who've lost husbands, wives, and kids, sometimes many from the same family. The grief is tangible, and far beyond what we could imagine. And she's also got to hold her nation together, set the tone, send the right messages lest the kneejerks begin, and one small token of that was wearing a hijab. I'd call it holding out an olive branch, you called it virtue signalling and it just didn't sound reasonable.

I agree blowin those kind of articles are just terrible and divisive.

They try to paint people based on skin colour or religion as this one thing, painting all white people as white supremacist is just as bad as painting all muslims as radical muslims.

The problem with these people is not being able to separate things like Islam from muslims and white supremacist from everyday white people (although kind of weirdly you don't actually need to be white to have the views white supremacist often do)

Like i said you can hate islam with out hating muslims, and i guess you can hate white supremacy without hating white people.

PS. Stu i don't want to keep going on about this, so will only address this point, but no one has compared the egg thing with JFK, BTW. i was happy to see Blind boy take a level headed view and agree with me in part on that incident.
