Happy Australia day !!!!

Sure the long weekend officially starts tomorrow, but patience has never been my strong suit and today is just too damn fine to waste with thoughts of routine So I’ve kicked this thing off early.

Actually started with a bang last night as another earthquake shook me from sleep. It was a stinker of a night . Building up to some monsoonal activity and the hot , still nights are here with a vengeance. Laying with the sheets bunched on the floor and the air from the fan brushing my skin.

Then I was woken by the Big Fella of the mob of greys that gets around the traps. He seemed to think that indoors was the place to be. First time I’ve seen a kangaroo trying to negotiate a fly screen door. Stupid prick.

Third event for the night and it sounds like someone’s after my tinny - the Sea Wok . Throw on some shorts and bolt down the path to investigate straight into an industrial sized spiders web. Still asleep , I actually feel the Big Golden orb running across my chest trying to escape.

The boat was fine . The spider and myself came to an agreement to stay the fuck away from each other from now on. Back to bed.

Woke up bleary to a perfect day. Northerly beats me to the punch . Surfing’s out so it’s coffees at the kiosk then a quick dive to spear some lunch.

Fish in the fridge , the days heating up and I’m planning on cracking my first beer at 14:30.

Feel free to join me.

Time to take stock of the incredible life we’ve got in this amazing country.

You might not like the premise, but I reckon this holiday rules. It’s the celebration of Australia at its peak. Everyone has let go of the old year and made inroads on the next. The craziness and release of the Chrissy / New Years is behind us and the summer has been wrung of every bit of fun available. The caravan parks and coastal towns are still chockers but the last hurrah is upon us. It’s been great and I’ve had a ball.

So raise a glass or an ice cream or a halal salad or whatever the fuck you want in recognition of how good we’ve got it here under Huey’s benevolent gaze.

There will never be total unity, changing the date even suggesting it is divisive.

But i guess the horse has bolted now, each year will get worse and then most likely the date will get changed, some people will complain because its changed and ruined our tradition/culture then some will complain that an change of date is not enough and that we still need to change what we do on the day, and then others wont be happy with the new date.

And then I'm sure in time we will then look to changing other dates or names like Christmas or Easter because it offended those of other religions etc

Going to be interesting how quick these kind of things happen?

Ten years I'm guessing.

Not that i really care that much, i don't really celebrate or enjoy these days anymore, but i think it is kind of sad because we don't really have much culture or traditions but they are being eroded.

You’re only saying that cause my posts are almost legible.

If you could actually decipher more than half of Crypto’s posts he’d surely prove the greater tosser.

But who knows ? I’ve been wrong before.

Seriously, though , some of the stuff I write on here is hurried and not thought through properly, just spat out in order to disagree with someone either because I enjoy their debates or because I can’t stand them.

The Adam Goodes / Stan Grant comment today was a good example of that . I’d usually delete them , but sometimes it doesn’t happen cause the conversations absorbed them already.

But carry on hating me if you’re that way inclined. We can’t all agree or get along .

I don't really care if you think I'm a tosser but i dont recall you even having a say on the topic.

Just agreeing with someone and then calling others names is pretty lame.

At least give us your view so we can have a discussion, and agree or disagree etc.

Or at the very least post some lame memes, although preferably not because they bring very little to the discussion.

Me, Blowin and dare i say Crypto all have one thing in common, we are willing to put ourselves out there, even if at times its a bit impulsive spontaneous.

I know i shouldn't but i do like to shit stir a little bit, i do exactly what Blowin just said, but that said i stick by everything i type, if i offend anyone well good.

We get to change whatever but can never unplug Jan 26 Day of Mourning! Aborigines have no choice as we chained them to that date.
We can partake on equal level with respect.Comes natural to most of us! Sorry!

BTW. i was trying to find out last night how realistic this opposition to Australia day is within the Aboriginal community, there is really not much info out there.

But found this article from last year, and its from the most far left rag in the country so i was surprised things hadn't been pushed higher.

It found only 15% of Australians that wanted a date change

And only 54% of Indigenous Australians, yes sure thats just over 50% but its not very convincing considering the issue as when asked you would expect they would feel they should say a date change should happen and off that 54% you can bet a large percentage in reality after the poll didn't think twice about the issue.

So save to say even among indigenous people as assumed most couldn't give a rats about the day or date change.

So 15% of Australian population plus half of 3% of population (Aboriginal population) so all up about 16.5% of Australian population support a date change.

"Oz day used to be fun until the flag wavers and lefties got hold of it."

Isn't that the truth!

It was just a public holiday, a fairly bland generic one, that was a day off more than anything. Half the time you wouldn't have even known what it's for....just like the rest of our public holidays...now that is aussie culture!!....In a nut shell...

And now....fuck me...It's turning into a day of outrage, to top the other 364 days of perpetual outrage.

Nice conversation on RN this morning, with lefty Michelle Grattan saying there's a heap of other indigenous issues we should be talking about...I agree, we probably should...and probably would....if permitted...maybe 'the conversation' could endeavour to facillitate those conversations more. Instead we'll just argue about superficial shit...again...

Conversely, is scat-mo serious?

A reenactment of the sailing of the endeavour? For reconciliation of all things...WTF!

This man has no idea.

Interesting show on NITV last night 'we don't need a map'. Very relevant to this conversation, with southern cross tattoos, cronulla riots, big day out bans, and potential indigenous nationalism all getting a run. A good little insight into indig. culture too, great little docco.

This debate like so many is what happens when there is no political leadership. Can any of us imagine for a minute that past prime ministers from Whitlam through to Howard wouldn't had a well articulated publicly stated view on this issue? You may not have agreed with it but it would be there. Now we have various shades of beige on both sides, fuck shorten has to hit the road running after the election on so many issues.

Whoevers responisible I just don't think it's good for debate or society, as most people are in the middle by definition. Increasingly way over there into the middle in most cases. Yet these extremists views - from both sides - get all the attention (and resources), leaving most people from all political leanings feeling unheard and neglected.

1938 'Day of Mourning' stands alone/proud each 26th of January to mark Landing.
DOM or 'Citizenship Day' is longest running national date honoured occasion.

That's right! Aborigines display greater reverence for our White Australian History.
As such PM is pissed off by Aborigines unbroken ties with "Jan 26 Title Claim"
Scomo seeks to abolish 'Day of Mourning' & re date Aboriginal Mc 'Happy day'.

Promo's Jan 26 is 'New Aussie's One Day Sale' + that other thing if we so bother...

It doesn't matter what the medium, opposing views are increasingly portryed as 'far right' or 'extreme left' and vice versa in the media and in general.

It's just an attempt to discredit the other side rather than argue the point. I reckon both sides have some pretty extrene views on some pretty key points at this present moment in time, but neither side are willing to debate them, so they just yell at each other.

factotum exposes yet more Textbook brainwashing.
Southern Land was named Australia before Brits even entered Southern Ocean.
New Zealand/Tasmania/Australia already discovered & named.[re:factotum] Above.

Darwin > E'Coast > S'Coast maps out 1600's Spanish/Portuguese/Chinese relics.
Cook with stolen maps was last to step ashore on same Oz Eastern Coastline.

Brits trailed the Dutch/Spanish/Portuguese/French to New Zealand...
Brits claim Cook was first to land in NZ ...Again more Bullshit...
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/australiaandthepacific/newzea...

We see a pattern with Euro's respecting Native lands & Sheltering in Bays.
No need to claim inhabited lands, especially where natives are defending the shore.
Just name the place & get outta there alive....sure some got banked on a tide.

Cowardly British hunted South Pacific military bases to fight off enemy France.
Cook wasn't gonna respect Native people nor their Lands.
Cook would shoot & kill to claim the shore of each nation then hoist the Kings Flag.
He'd then disarm wounded Aborigines.(Brits still refuse to return spears/shield)
Cook's Theme: Lure with trinkets >Shoot Natives> disarm victims> Fly Kings Flag!
https://www.themonthly.com.au/issue/2018/may/1525096800/bronwyn-adcock/c...

King's orders were to Chart the Coastline omitting strategic Strongholds.
Reportedly Harbours/Ports/Islands/Points and we can also note omission of Rivers.
In fact some were coded into the Charts with deviated lines hiding Stronghold.

For 100's of years Oz Scholars have relied on Comics as geographic benchmarks.
He bastardized Charts for Military aims.
Can you see the theme of Brit War mongers reshaping our nation as a fortress.

Paranoid Cook reckons French are also securing South Pacific so he plays wild card.
Cook claims East Coast Oz in Kings Name as no one lives there. 'Despite invasion!'
Joseph Banks reckons Captain has lost the plot. No protocol claim was carried out!
Fake News/False Claim...How does Cook explain away booty of spears +shield?

1791 Convict Bryant's log of East Coast / Morton Bay was confiscated by Bligh.
Bligh hands over Bryant's log to Flinders who rediscovers 1799 Morton Bay. (Hero)

Now it's revealed Bungaree was 1st Oz to circumnavigate Australia. [re: factotum]

1938 > only ever Aborigines front up on Landing Day! Our PM aims to ban them!

What chance for our schoolkids to have a decent education in lying shameful Oz.
