Every woman I know is more than comfortable with the term “ chick “.

Christ , how far do you reckon I’d have gotten in this life if it wasn’t for the women that bestow their generous nature upon me ?

Girls and women are their own people with their own strength. They dont need your charity .Get over it.

Your problem BB is that you talk as though I have no respect for women but it’s yourself that places no respect in their abilities or achievements. Take a look around you. Chicks surf rings around the both of us in a lot of cases. If they want to do it shaking their yaya then more power to them . And if a man dares to appreciate it it doesn’t lessen them or us . It’s nature for fucks sake. We were born to appreciate and lust after a healthy female form. If you feel the need to flagellate yourself after the fact then go and join the church.

Surf here was compromised by the extreme tides. I should have adjourned to the gronk point early in the piece.

Shoredump, I agree.... Men sexualise women.. Men now even sexualise men... Women sexualise men, and themselves. But that's not the point I'm making.

The argument in the other thread was that Swellnet does NOT subscribe to that. Yet here we are, as derra points out, using so called "pop culture" ( a line from a song promoting casual oral sex in the heavily misogynistic hip hop rap scene) to caption a pic that was IMO put up for no other reason then to dispel an accusation. It's an average pic at best, and an even more average caption. In fact, Id say the pic would never made the cut had it not been for the deleted thread.

Perhaps we could ask some of our female regulars here for their opinion....

Ohhh.... hang on...... There aren't any...
I've been here for years now. Never EVER seen a woman comment on anything.
Sorta says more than any caption, yeah blowback?

The coverage of Joyce in mainstream media in recent days has emphasised his betrayal of his wife and family and his toxic hypocrisy. What has been missing is an assessment of his much more serious and hugely more damaging offences against the national well being. He, more than any other politician, has contributed to the rorting of water rights that has seriously damaged, probably permanently, the ecology of the Murray Darling Basin. The National Party, under his direction, has sought to undermine rational climate change policy and boost the fossil fuel industry. His welfare policies have consistently attacked the most vulnerable in our society. Like his ally Abbott, he has sought to convert his anachronistic morality into law, while simultaneously trying to raise religious institutions above laws that might limit their right to impose their medieval belief systems on the wider community. He was a priveleged prat playing the bumpkin to avoid closer analysis, while lacking even the wit or the basic Machiavellian skills to carry it off. It is to be hoped that he disappears from public life though, reality check, the overwhelming probability is that he will be replaced by another hired mouthpiece for corporate Australia with an equally smug and self-righteous line of shallow, unexamined moralistic bullshit. Yet at least we can look forward to seeing less of that particularly unpleasant, beetroot tinted leer on the nightly news.

I think you are right Ben though I am not sure that it reflects well on the voters of New England. First because they have consistently voted for self-interest; for someone prepared to empty the pork barrel into Tamworth and undermine environmental legislation in ways that benefited his voters. Second, from all reports you would have had to have your head in the sand for the whole of his most recent campaign to avoid knowing what was happening. It seems to have been common knowledge. The sad conclusion is that the voters who are dropping him now are hypocrites of the same standard as the man himself, since it is not the offence that has changed their mind, but the fact that it has been exposed.

Dead right BB. The agrarian socialist philosophy it reeking with it.

By the way, your denunciation of him in the previous post covers a lot of ground, but misses his explicit support for coal seam gas on farms, which surely goes directly against the interests of his constituents (but not Gina Rhinehart's interests)

I can never figure out why farmers keep electing these hayseeds. Climate change policy and a carbon tax, sustainable water resources and bans on coal seam gas are all in the farmers' interests, and yet they keep voting the national party back in.

Mind you, it's not only farmers who regularly vote against their own interests.

Good summation Blindboy.

Here is yet another article exposing the water theft from the Murray Darling Basin.

https://www.theage.com.au/environment/sustainability/shut-it-down-murray...

To your list you could add that Joyce labelled Gillard "deliberately barren" in his defence of his version of "family values" when he opposed Federal funding for the cervical cancer vaccine. He opposed this vaccine because it would promote promiscuity amongst young women ...... bahaahahaha.

Further, the background as to how Joyce came to buy up a large parcel of barren wasteland in NSW 12 months before a mining company headed up by a former National Party leader staked a claim for coal mining needs to be investigated. While Joyce and this company head/former Nats leader meet on numerous occasions leading up to the purchase "apparently" the opportunity to make a fortune wasn't discussed! A Federal ICAC would have a field day on that.

Joyce would be hurting because he would have unfinished business for his mates in the parliament and he has probably ruined all prospects of following scores of other former National Party leaders and senior officials and working for the Minerals Council or one of the big mining companies. Through their actions these people demonstrate the National Party no longer represents the interests of ordinary hard working country people but the big corporate players in agriculture and mining. Got no idea why country people vote for them.

Jobson Growth plays a big role I think, Guy. Sorry to say many people still believe what they read in the local Murdoch rag and so are deceived into voting against their own best interests. It is an old game and the Nationals lead by several lengths in the cynical exploitation of their voters insecurities. Pump up old school economic thinking for big development projects and pointless infrastructure while making mock of sound environmental management and feeding paranoia about refugees and recent migrants. The Liberals represent broader interests and so have to be more careful.

And, in arguments eslewhere...

"...The other way in which I do agree with my fellow panelists that political correctness has done an enormous amount of harm in the sliver of the population that might be, I wouldn't want to say persuadable, but certainly whose affiliation might be up for grabs, comes from the often highly literate, highly intelligent people who gravitate to the alt-right, internet savvy, media savvy, who often are radicalized in that way, who swallow the red pill, as the saying goes, the allusion from The Matrix. When they are exposed the first time to true statements that have never been voiced in college campuses or in The New York Times or in respectable media, that are almost like a bacillus to which they have no immunity, and they're immediately infected with both the feeling of outrage that these truths are unsayable, and no defense against taking them to what we might consider to be rather repellent conclusions."

"...Now let's say that you have never even heard anyone mention these facts. The first time you hear them, you're apt to say, number one, the truth has been withheld from me by universities, by mainstream media, and, moreover, you will be vindicated when people who voice these truths are suppressed, shouted down, assaulted, all the more reason to believe that the Left, that the mainstream media, that universities can't handle the truth. So, you get vindicated over and over again, but, worst of all, you're never exposed to the ways of putting these facts into context so that they don't lead to racism and sexism and extreme forms of Anarcho-Libertarianism. So, the politically correct Left is doing itself an enormous disservice when it renders certain topics undiscussable, especially when the facts are clearly behind them because they leave people defenseless the first time they hear them against the most extreme and indefensible conclusions possible. If they were exposed, then the rationale for putting them into proper political and moral context could also be articulated, and I don't think you would have quite the extreme backlash."

"...It’s demonstrative of how true Pinker’s argument is that he was shellacked even for making it. But the Left can’t be bothered to think about their own role in provoking the rise of the despicable and atrocious alt-right movement with their identity politics and intellectual censoriousness."

https://www.dailywire.com/news/25730/harvard-professor-steven-pinker-poi...

Pretty sure Pinker is not a right wing nut job...or at least wasn't, not until the left moved so far across to lefty lala land anyway. Therefore in the process, positioning everyone as RWNJ's (and labelling them as such...as they do!)

If the left has had its day how do you account for Corbyn in the UK and Sanders in the US? I think you would have to go back further than the 70s to find more extreme left wingers in significant positions and at least to FDR's New Deal to find anyone comparable actually in power. I also get the impression that the generation now in high school and tertiary study are potentially more inclined to the left. The pendulum swings and the right wing views of their parents are being increasingly rejected. Imagine learning about climate change as a teenager and realising that your parents' generation have dropped you in it. Add in job insecurity, and rising inequality and you have a strong incentive to swing to the left.

sypkan's picture

I reckon corbyn and sanders are about way different things than say clinton and trudeau's view of the world. Way way different things, and this is the split in the contempory left that has been exploited by trump.

As pinker is saying, the alt right has filled a kind of void, and also exploited it, to the enth degree with their tech savvyness. It wasn't even that hard, computers are what they do, they love it. And, unfortunetly, milo comes across a bit cooler than katy perry.

I hate to say it blindboy but the left's got nothing, with nothing in sight, and the corbyn sanders brand will never cross the socialism paranoia of the US. And possibly would not even in UK or OZ. Not unless something big goes down anyway.

The main factor in the rise of the right has been corporate financing. After ww2 the oil industry started to invest in Republican candidates. Richard Nixon's first campaign for Congress was funded by oil money. They wanted control of oil and gas reserves to be given to the states, which were more easily corrupted or at least cheaper, than the Federal government. The role of the Koch brothers and other similar plutocrats cannot be under-estimated. Along the way the advertising industry, having worked out how to sell shitty products like cigarettes, got into the business of selling bad ideas. The entire alt right agenda has been sold in the same way and is even more lethal than tobacco.
