Best Days: East swell magnets over the coming days, south magnets Sunday and Monday morning

Recap

Tiny waves yesterday, while this morning a small E/NE swell looks to be offering inconsistent 1-2ft sets.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Apr 3 - 8)

The E/NE swell seen through today is expected to persist through the end of the week, generated in our far swell window north of New Zealand by persistent E/NE trades.

We may see a touch more energy Saturday and Sunday from the strongest part of the fetch, coming in more around 2ft on the former, possibly even a touch bigger Sunday, but very inconsistent.

Winds look favourable and offshore each morning ahead of afternoon sea breezes.

Also in the mix for Sunday is our S/SE groundswell, with it being generated today and tomorrow by a fetch of polar SE gales south of New Zealand.

We should see the swell arriving later Saturday and peaking Sunday to 3ft across south magnets, easing back from 2-3ft Monday.

Winds Sunday look great and offshore from the N/NW, with N/NW tending W/NW winds Monday.

Longer term we've got small levels of E/NE and S/SE swell on the cards for next week with nothing too major beyond this. Check back Friday for an update on next week though.
