Yeah, the footage is a little shaky, there's a few dud notes, but there's also a number of high points - see Messrs Backsider and Frontsider near the end. Call it rambling, loose, and fun, much like the score that holds it all together.

Relatively uncrowded compared to Kirra. What a contrast. Obviously not enough cameras and heros out there.
Sad to see the jet ski wankers, making a nuisance of themselves.
Going off the sound track, I was waiting to see Jesus take the drop.
Rather that then that joke called Coolangatta.

I don't think that's it.

The edit looks good but in reality I'm betting it would have been hard work out there.

First you have to get out of the rocks or near the river, then once out id expect with what looks like a fairly easterly swell it would have been super shifty and plenty of way to fast sectiony ones and close outs.

Burleigh is much better much on more south east swells, although at this size on more south east swells the current can be so strong that it actually pulls you away from the waves.

Looks like a shitload of hard work.

Bit like a big night at the casino . 99 percent of those attending will walk away with a flogging to their psyche but that 1 percent that pulls off the big win.....oh yeah.

Either way, win or lose , you’ll be lost in the moment as the adrenaline takes you to places you rarely venture.

Who dares wins .....right , Clam !

My favourite Gita clip so far. The boys having a genuine dip paddling the local all set to a crunchy tune.

That is without doubt the most hideous music I have ever heard.
Some nice waves thou.

Been out there on a day like that about 10 years ago. The paddle out was super serious with lots of water moving and a huge crowd watching probably hoping for you to end up on the rocks for entertainment. Standing on the rocks waiting to jump was probably one of the most intimidating situations I have been in. A mixture of desire to snag one of those perfect barrels, fear for skin and scrapes, fear of being pounded on the rocks in front of a huge crowd, knowing I was out of my depth and being too proud to turn around and walk back up the hill dry as a bone.

It was pumping but somehow I picked a rare gap and got out clean with my heart pumping and genuine fear driving every stroke. The big sets were so heavy and top to bottom that getting caught had doom written all over it.

So I sat out there dodging sets too far out off the rocks for the medium ones and never quite positioned for the big sets. The show from the water of the waves themselves and those who knew how to handle them was quite something to behold. Aqua blue barrels from land look very different close up and as you paddle into them.

Unfortunately I only had my short board and struggled to get into the waves and only caught one big wide one before getting washed in.

It looks nice from the shore but big Burleigh is heavy and you need peak fitness, a longer board and great takeoff skills to handle it. I was lacking in all three.

The take off on the last one in the clip is pretty amazing - just a quick slip into the pocket .

Yeah super impressive and paddling in to boot. Awesome take offs and as remarked on above, that last one was exquisite timing. I liked the music Evo but I think you had to be there.

ahhhhh frog, you hit the nail right on the old head. Beautifully said. yep i grew up on an old Kenn Custom single fin 7`2 jumping those old Burliegh rocks with everything going on like ya mention. Ahhh man, yep ya know your alive for sure. Loved ta see the banks performing again for the boys. Shame the f#*king bullshit jet ski`s got into the filming, but oo yeee, the boys dropping in and guning it or at the very least holding on to their balls and having a go. Magic
