In late May Donkey Bay - AKA Skeleton Bay - in Namibia kicked over much to the delight of South African surfers, travelling tubepigs, and the odd SUP rider. Morning gloom made way for blazing sunshine as the waves relentlessly spiralled down the sandbank.

This vid is solely drone footage which limits the perspective, but still, it captures that unrelenting down the line rush.

And SUPs at Skeleton Bay..?

I liked that footage more than most other clips of the same spot. The wide angled distant views that take in the rider in the foreground, the successive waves in the set with riders taking off and the beach itself provide an excellent perspective. I enjoyed the variety of rides a lot more than the usual string of in-the-tube shots of other clips. You get a much better idea of how the waves break there. That's also a reason why many videos and photos of secret spots are not much to look at; they have to crop the picture to hide all clues about the location that you're left with a photo or clip with few, if any, physical features and the end result is the worse for it.

looks like wave quality is really starting to deteriorate there......

Not much tube riding going on, a lot more racing the section. Far cry from epic Donkey.
