Here's a photo of the model ridden in the vid (diff board, same model). Note the asymm fin config:

Did you catch the dolphin at 1:28?
Sandspit looks very similar to Snapper.
I don't know if it's me but I reckon he would have surfed those waves better on more conventional equipment. I know he was just cruising but the board seemed to hold him back a little. Just my thoughts.
freddiefferWednesday, 20 May 2015 at 8:20pm
Yeh, definately Zen. He looked ungainly to me. A lot of unwanted slide everywhere, as well as it being at the expense of drive in a lot of his turns.
Thumbs down for me.
roubydoubyThursday, 21 May 2015 at 8:21am
That Dolphin looked disappointed - like he had raced over cause he knew the spit was gonna be on, but then he found there were 150 guys on it.
'Bloody cameras on the beach', he'd say later to his Dolphin mates, 'they're blowing up our local'.
stunetWednesday, 20 May 2015 at 3:13pm
Looked nice and loose off the top but a wee bit boggy coming out of some cutbacks.
Didn't notice the dolphin, bet he's not to thrilled with today's news:
Good surfer with great talent, being held back by equipment.

I see where you are coming from, but without using that sort of equipment and fitting in to the niche that riding it allows him to do, I doubt Patagonia would be picking him up as a Surfing Ambassador. He'd just be another ripper on a conventional board - of which there are thousands and thousands. Have you seen the grommets surfing lately? Doing air reverses at 12 years old? God help us. Being held back by equipment probably helps pay the bills for this bloke.

Love your reply!
Never thought that way.

She might not be marriage material, but she'd be fun to go on a few dates with.
It really does look like snapper from that land angle.
simbaWednesday, 20 May 2015 at 5:39pm
Agree with all the above, board looked a bit weird though.
eelWednesday, 20 May 2015 at 8:48pm
Agreed. His turns looked like shit. Good board for going straight I guess.

Nice bottom/top turn flow
stunetThursday, 21 May 2015 at 9:15am
When I posted this vid I'll admit I was more curious about the asymmetrical board then the surfing or the waves. Here's why.
Chris Garrett asymm S-Tail quad picked up earlier this week. Hasn't been surfed yet.
roubydoubyThursday, 21 May 2015 at 9:30am
That does look all sorts of enjoyable to ride - on a right at least . I'd imagine that extra rail would be great for hollow drops and for carrying speed through a bottom turn - punctuated by a tight carve in the pocket on the short rail. Must be great for tuning your mind into board function and feel.
stunetThursday, 21 May 2015 at 9:40am
It's made for rights, and in specific a right hand point near my home, though I'll gladly take it out in anything (been flat the last few days). Don't think I've ever mindsurfed a board as much as this one. I'd been curious about asymms for a long while but always put off buying one till I spoke to Chris; he cut right through the confusion and spoke clear sense. Now when I hold the board or stare at it I can imagine how it will work, it make sense.
No doubt it'll throw a few surprises at me but it's not even wet and I'm already having fun.

Sounds like she's got you by the neurons, Stu.
That must be a good place to be - exciting and fertile.

Hi Stu,interesting looking board and can relate to the mind surfing before baptism, all part of it for sure, dont forget the review !

I loved the guitar work. How good was the wah wah!
spookyptThursday, 21 May 2015 at 1:41pm
For your viewing pleasure. Lovely guy Chris. Ive known him for years. Used to shape a lot of stuff for me back in the early goldy days in his tin shed behind Burleigh Heads.
Ridden his channel bottoms but never his asym shapes. First asym I saw was shaped by Cutch or Knackers Kozelowski from Beach Beat for the Straddie Assault back in the mid 80's.
stunetFriday, 22 May 2015 at 8:22am
Cheers SpookyPt. Cool vid, though the highlight for me wasn't the shape but Chris' last line: "This one I ended up painting with dirt from home. That way I've always got a bit of home with me."
Ha ha...

Stu, have a look at Pitmove instagram [Ben Wilkinson]
Backhand off the top pic on a 9'0" assymetrical .
stunetSaturday, 23 May 2015 at 8:10pm
Lordy! How is that blast? 9'0" riding like a 5'0".
Had two surfs on the asymm so far, one of them at the wave it was designed for. Feels effing unreal.

looks like he needs to put another fin on the cutback/heel side ..looks a bit too loose to do high speed man-hacks......
