daverave,,,, hahaha... That was a nasty chunk of reef.... "biscuit reef"..... The left would just rifle towards the biscuit, and if you didn't flick out in time, you were munched like an iced vovo at a bingo meet lol..... I remember pulling in, getting clipped and doing cartwheels in the barrel... You had just got out of the water, and was sitting up on the rocks looking straight down into the pits..... Remember that? There was a dead tiger shark washed up in lodged in the rocks.... the whole bay stank...... I got pitched over the "biscuit".... You thought I was dead..... I came up and saw you about to jump in and gather my corpse...... Somehow, I was totally unscathed.... Don't fuckn know how...... remember that, jimmy???? Classic times hahahaha.....

I reckon your right sheepy, there is a lot of snobbery around Ms Lambie, but I tend to agree with most things she says and the way she says it as it is. You could put money on what Alan Jones will say about that coal mine ...... all good. In fact since Abbott banned his ministers from appearing on Q&A I think its been an even better show without the usual mindless scripted neocon dribble, which bring me back to Ms Lambie, nothing scripted about her but in a good way.

ps: good to see you up and about again, hoping your getting some good surf and warmer water these days.

Why is Abbott a Dead man Walking?

(A poem by G. Henchel)

Was it justice, was it Karma?
Was it Murdoch, was it Palmer?
Was it lying and conceit?
Was it backbenchers fear of defeat?
Was it Mathias and Joe's cigars?
Was it because we've stopped making cars?
Was it climate change denial?
Was it putting Julia on trial?
Was it the daughter's scholarship prize?
Was it debt and deficit lies?
Was it removing the Carbon Tax?
Was it trying to give the RET the axe?
Was it cutting Foreign aid?
Was it being so retrograde?
Was it the Minister for Women joke?
Was it all the promises broke?
Was it Brandis's bigots rights?
Was it prancing around in lycra tights?
Was it cutting the SBS and the ABC?
Was it costing more for university?
Was it imposing a GP tax?
Was it the disregard of facts?
Was it the ridiculous Dames and Knights?
Was it the threats and talk of fights?
Was it Joe's "lifters and leaners"?
Was it cutting the pay of parliament's cleaners?
Was it punishing pensioners and the unemployed?
Was it the total moral void?
Was it the embarrassing G20 address?
Was it the ongoing budget mess?
Was it the book-launch travel rort?
Was it knighting the Queen's consort?
Was it use of the sham inquiry stunt?
Was it the weasel words of Hunt?
Was it the 800 Million given to News?
Was it longer unemployment queues?
Was it a budget most unfair?
Was it too much body hair?
Was it nobbling the NBN?
Was it lying again and again?
Was it exploiting terrorist threats?
Was it job applications of Eric Abetz?
Was it the sex worker wink?
Was it being too slow to think?
Was it Joe's "poor people don't drive"
Was it the polls taking a dive?
Was it the surprises and constant excuses?
Was it asylum seeker abuses?
Was it the work of Peta and the IPA?
Was it repeating slogans day after day?
Was it the dog whistle of "Team Australia"?
Was it the pungent smell of failure?

Was it Arthur's memory at ICAC?
Was it giving Mr Burns the sack?
Was it ever declining polls?
Was it funding Internet trolls?
Was it Newman's election loss?
Was it the submarine double cross?
Was it saying the "Adults are in charge"?
Was it making the deficit more large?
Was it the whole damn useless crew?
Was it the ties of bogus blue?
Was it the hubris and the swagger?
Was it Malcolm and Julie's dagger?
Was it saying he would change?
Was it becoming even more deranged?
Was it eating an onion raw?
Was it the data-retention law?
Was it exploiting Dr Karl?
Was it frequent smirking snarls?
Was it the daughter's low rent at Kirribilli?
Was it "Fixer" Pyne being silly?
Was it acting like a bar room yob?
Was it offering Bjorn Lomborg a job?
Was it saying "I suppose we must grieve"?
Was it the constant attempts to deceive?
Was it ditching his gold plated PPL mess?
Was it then making Labor's PPL less?
Was it saying the deficit is no longer trouble?
Was it increasing your own deficit double?
Was it a second budget based on deception?
Was it threatening to call an early election?
Was it trying to get Gillian Triggs out?
Was it Dutton acting like a Brussel sprout?
Was it "get a good job that pays good money"
Was it laughing at things that just weren't funny?
Was it all the talk of double dipping?
Was it cabinet leaks a constant dripping?
Was it denying marriage equality?
Was it Brandis reading poetry ?
Was it paying people smugglers to turn around?
Was it the dead cat bounce the polls have found?
Was it saying how much he hated wind farms?
Was it lying each day without any qualms?
Was it the false outrage at QandA?
Was it telling ministers to stay away?
Was it Bishop's ride in a chopper?
Was it cos Abbott did nothing to stop her?
Was it Shorten's conference revival?
Was it party room fears for their own survival?
Why will Abbott get the shove?
The answer is, all of the above.

@sheepy,

I'm not sure if these people have ever known the meaning of conflict of interest!

We all knew what Abbott and his team were against at the last election but few of us fully realised that there was no policy agenda behind the 3 word slogans.

By any reasonable measure, no matter what your political inclination, the Abbott government must be considered a massive disappointment / failure. Perhaps the worse government ever.

Apart from the far-right ideologically driven (failed) 1st budget where Abbott targetted the people in the community who can least afford cuts to incomes / services what have they done?

Smarter people than me could quickly list 20 meaningful things the Abbott government could have done to improve the country but unless it supports the status-quo e.g. the coal industry, they refuse to act.

I read recently that with Abbott its all ideology, how true, but the problem is greater than Abbott. There are 70 like-minded conservative politicians forming his power base. Remove Abbott, sure, but who do you get in turn? just another conservative clone.

I'm so far removed from oz politics that I feel it hardly rates a mention.

I suppose the question that's really on my mind is do you and those around you feel worse off? What I mean is do you feel your lot in life has diminished under the Coalition or were you more prosperous under a Labor government?

When I go home which averages out at about once every 2-3 years, the only things that really seem to change are the prices. A few new buidings go up here and there, a road is upgraded or another under construction, public transport is still underutilised because everybody thinks they're entitled to a seat and can't stand up for 30 minutes, surf is still crowded and the big beautiful wide open spaces are still there with clean air, very little litter and people going about what they do. How much is a schooner these days? I'm scared to ask.

I think both sides of politics in Oz are rotten to the core but I'd like to think there are a few on both sides and in the independents that keep an even keel. I'm for a strong middle class but agree with abolishing certain forms of middle class welfare. I think a countries prosperity can be measured by the strength and breadth of it's middle class. I don't think the Coalition are all about just the big end of town, I think they really want all Australians to work, pay tax and enjoy the beautiful fruits this country provides for them. And the reason why they're not in opposition is that quite a few other people feel the same way. Some people may have more in life than others, but sometimes I think some people on here don't believe well off people actually work hard and that they just inherited everything.

Worst government/PM ever? Not yet.

thanks happy and zenman, really interested

i think your right happy regarding no overarching vision being their problem. they just seem to have cruised in thinking they'll do what john howard did and everything will be sweet. a lot has changed since howards time.

good response zen, very thoughtful, i don't think my lot dimished/deminishes under either side. but I do expect LNP to be good economic managers that will maintain/increase prosperity. with the current government even bodies like business council, and others criticise the current government openly, not norrmally the done thing, and that's where I've given up on them. I expected all the other stuff the leftys are outraged about (with the exception of the prince phillip thing (what the fuck was that about????)) but I'll only put up with it if they're doing what they've supposed to be doing well well, it appears they're not!!

gotta agree (almost) LNP aren't just about the big end of town, they want to encourage participation of all, (sometimes.through tough love) but abbott and co. are way too close to big mining, big oil, big coal. which makes our global climate change position embarrassing to say the least.

love your comment regarding public transport, lots of talk amongst Australians regarding climate change and pollution, but they're all too precious to stand up for 30 minutes, this is the' sense of entitlement' governments should be addressing. they need to see what the japanese do to get to work hey zen? on one of the 'best public transport systems in the world'
