I like Sharks they protect people from getting hurt by Greenies.
Greenies should be the ones being culled
Especially the ones that love eating Meat or Fish as watching them being slaughtered is just hideous
I don't know what to say but lets get stick into the Sharks over 3m in Perth WA forever
That way these sharks can play water polo with the greenies because they know where to draw the line on everrrryyyytttghhhhiiiinnnnggggg
I would hope everyone around the world understands one thing Ron & Valerie Fxxked us all twice
Once when they went on a Shark Culling Escapade after getting munched as an act of revenge
Then feeling guilty and saving the Sharks until they reach prehistoric dinosaur size now and just eat any shit going
HONESTLY humans are part of the ocean especially in Perth its water paradise
Most of the croc head greenies don't even go in the ocean
I hope they understand the problem is them .... too much conservation do goody good doism in Perth & WA has created a sharks paradise WA IS NOW A SHARK MACCA DRIVE THRU . CANT GET A FEED GET A HUMAN THEYRE NICE AND SLOW.
To think that Sharks are stupid and cant hunt try asking any Cray boat the sharks are like puppies following them around.
Barnett is at least showing some balls and doing something to keep a balance and try & save its human population & beautiful coastal recreational life
When a dog bites a human it gets smoked
When a shark bites a human ... how the fxxk does anyone expect to track it down
I surf my kids swim in the ocean my mates dive & fish
Its our ocean too
Something has to be done
Well done Barnett at least you have some balls
Stuff off Greenies and work on saving humans or something else.
The whole thing is balance
Right now sharks somehow have adopted the persona of a cute little puppy if you ask any idiot fighting for them
Theres 10 fold sharks around Perth and WA because of dickheads who think its smart to protect them instead of over fishing fish ???

UUGGHH Lenny...Dr Gordon Slack the EN & T specialist in Charlestown told me never stick anything in your ear smaller or easier than your elbow!!

Now that the dust has settled from the establishment of the Great Lakes/Port Stephens Marine park, it's generally considered by everyone who witnessed the entire shameful episode that it was railroaded through the "public consultation...ha ha" process and the outcome was always a forgone conclusion and had nothing to do with science.

Oh I'm just a surfer/fisherman/bum lenny, but I take an interest in things that affect me, like fishing regulations.
In a nutshell, that marine park process was pushed through at light speed. The local fishing fraternity and a lot of non local fishing fraternity got involved and could see through the BS. There were rallies, articles in fishing mags, meetings in local halls with reps from the Govt. etc. and even with the help of the internet to galvanise a movement to stop the park or at least see some real science to back it, the whole thing was predictably shammed into existence before everyone's disbelieving eyes.
And oh feck don't they love to enforce the rules now. You'd get a lesser sentence for murder than for inadvertently fishing just inside the invisible boundaries. Other Marine parks have at least been added to electronic map cards available for affordable GPS devices used by fishermen, but not the Port Stephens MP.
I rang C-Map (one of the companies that make electronic charts) a few years ago to ask why they had not identified the boundaries on their maps. They said they rely on the MP authority to provide the coordinates, which they won't.
Anyway don't get me started, it's off topic I guess, but that MP is a huge thorn in the side of all fishermen in this area and it still hasn't been shown to have had any effect on anything other than to shut people out of some great fishing spots and raise revenue for the Govt. from fines.

"Anyway its a done deal now for THEM, and the attack lottery begins again for US. 3 fatals in 294 days..no survivors. Im so farkin lucky eh...that dumb shit had me. I should not be here."
Quote Lenny67..

Do you really think the shark let you go because it's a "dumb shit"?
C'mon mate, have you ever maybe thought that it let you go because humans aren't sharks preferred food source?

What are you trying to achieve?
SHARKS LIVE IN THE OCEAN...
As long as people continue to surf, people will continue to VERY rarely get attacked.
Same deal as with people driving cars, will occasionally crash and die.
People that BASE jump, will occasionally die
People that race mx will sometimes crash and die

Hey Lenny, why do you keep reffering to sharks as "dumb"? What do you mean by that? They are what they are, aren't they?? I would of thought we could build a stronger case in reffering to some humans as dumb.....

well ive eye balled a 4m white off the coast have youse ?....I surf and dive as do many others,,,but im confused , the red necks amongst us say its a Green conspiracy to say nasty things about Colin and his shark kill and man eating sharks are moving into our recreational waters. If this is correct why have I eye balled a white only once in 30 years and why has no one been munched in the last year ?....how many of you have lost a loved one because of an idiot in a car ?....I have , maybe we should have an open season on red necks who take out our kids on the roads........you drive , you surf, u know the risk,

So they paid Vic a tidy sum , all expenses included, to fly internationally to kill a shark. No shark caught, weak tabloid stunt fails and nearly a quater of a century later and they're writing Vic off as an innocent fish murdering freak.

He might be a freak for all I know , but they paid him to kill that shark. Hypocrites ,rewriting history with the politically correct vantage of hindsight.

This is what WA Fisheries are now emailing out to people who hold a Cray licence.

from Fisheries.
Good afternoon,
You have received this email because you hold a licence for the recreational fishing of rock lobsters and your postcode indicates one of the areas you may fish is Warnbro Sound.
Please read the advice below if you are considering fishing for rock lobsters by diving in the area in the near future.

Shark Caution Advice for Warnbro Sound Water Users
The Department of Fisheries is advising water users in Warnbro Sound to exercise additional caution following a number of detections from a tagged white shark at the Warnbro Sound Shark Monitoring Network receiver recently.

The frequency and duration of the recent detections indicates it is highly likely the current environmental conditions (which could include baitfish and spawning snapper) are acting as an attractant to both tagged and untagged sharks. Environmental conditions which attract sharks are usually transient and it is not uncommon for sharks to be present off the coast throughout the year, however, water users should be aware that, given the current environmental indications, the increase in shark activity in Warnbro Sound may continue for several days, and possibly over the Christmas period.

The Department’s advice is that water users should:

Take additional caution in the Warnbro Sound area.
Keep informed of the latest detection and sighting information by checking the Surf Life Saving Twitter – www.twitter.com/SLSWA or the SharkSmart activity map www.sharksmart.com.au/shark-activity
Report any shark sightings to Water Police on 9442 8600.
Adhere to any beach closures advised by your Local Government Rangers or Surf Life Saving WA.
Kind regards,
Shark Response Unit
Department of Fisheries

yeah, but that kind of touchy-feely BS which tries to paint GWS as some kind of harmless oceanic fairy is risible.

It's a top order predator. It's raison d'etre is to hunt, kill and reproduce.

It's definitely meant to be a joke freeride. But sometimes we need to laugh at stuff that scares us or you would never enter the water, especially around where I live.

what? a government cooking the books...who would have thought. I've always maintained that barnetts action was primarily to avoid a dip in tourism down south...like "hey look see - weve got it under control, its safe to swim".... it had nothing to do with public opinion. so frankly im not surprised he favours the advice of a group that most agrees with his plan.

We - the " human race " ..particularly since the 1980's , are the ones that have brought this whole situation on ourselves.
Shark " Eco tours " for example, have done nothing but - TORMENT - these creatures of the wild. THEY MUST BE LEFT ALONE.
They are predators, and with the rapidly declining conditions of our dying oceans, they ate victims of it - soley due to " the human race 's "
polluting of our oceans. I'm not a " Greenie " I'm a surfer - or was.
It is totally pointless waging a war of revenge on these creatures of the wild. That kind of mentality is utterly thoughtless.
The " balance " - that being - THE BALANCE OF NATURE - ....if you know what that is , has been ignored, land filled, denigrated - to the point now that we are at the point of no return. T H I N K. Look at the bigger picture. Open your eyes.

Interesting read http://www.washarkattacks.net/sprivulis-shark-paper.pdf.

A paper written on the chances of a shark attack vs a cycling accident that actually takes into account the number of regular ocean users, the type of ocean based activity undertaken and whereabouts the activity is undertaken. A bit of a different method than the normal there are x amount of people who go to the beach each year or x amount of people in a certain population and only x number of shark attacks per year hence the chance of being the victim of a shark attack next to zero.

"The results of his study have been surprising and controversial. What it seems to show is that the risk of white shark bite for the Perth metropolitan area for bathers close to shore during summer and autumn is 50 times lower than the risk of a fatal recreational cycling crash in WA.

But during winter and spring, off-shore diving and surf sports off the city appear to have similar risks to recreational cycling. And once you're south of the Perth city limits, off-shore diving and surf sports during winter and spring carry a fatal shark bite risk between three and 11 times the risk of a serious or fatal recreational cycling crash in WA" - http://www.theguardian.com/environment/ng-interactive/2014/nov/26/-sp-gr...

Would be interesting to see a similar study showing risk of fatal car crash vs risk of fatal shark attack for certain population groups.

ONYA. A good one.
One year on from that forum post.

Lots of chomps on the surfer dudes.
3 over NSW and one in SA in the last month. Who have i missed?
Lots of agro in the water by the natives.
Lack of natural food stocks or training the biggies to get food from a "woolly wanker" in a steel cage?
More of us in the water??? I don't know.

BUT PLEASE DONT FEED THE WILD ANIMALS. Its not good for you or them!

Hucky.
